problem with nested tables

\goto with references which don't exist, how to spot?

Hello, I use something like \goto{chapter}[some-reference] where this chapter is not yet written (and thus I have later to check whether it is indeed called 'some-reference' and not by chance 'some-other-reference'). Unfortunally, ConTeXt writes 'chapter' and not e.g. chapter~{\bf ??} or chapter~$\blacksquare$ or something else which is easily spotable. (I like the square, a '\bf ??' is too easily be overlooked.). How can I make ConTeXt show such a sign if it cannot resolve a reference? Tobias

Selecting a page as a figure from a pdf

All, I am aware of \filterpages but I would like to be able to insert part of a single page from a multi page pdf and I have not been able to find anything on the list of manuals. (\clip does not seem to work with \filterpages). Does anybody have any ideas? TIA -- Nigel

MP figures in the background

Hi, I'm doing a christmars card in ConTeXt!. I've the following setup \setuppapersize[CD][A4] \setuplayout[marking=on,location=middle] \starttext \startuseMPgraphic{dummy} ... ... \stopuseMPgraphic \defineoverlay[backfigure][\useMPgraphic{dummy}] \setupbackground[paper][background=backfigure] \hbox{} \stoptext I need the \hbox{} because there has to be something to typeset. The next thing i want to do is to have a second page. I use the \page[yes] command. The problem is that with this the background apears to in the second page, and i don't want that. How can i define a background figure only for certain page? Thanks in advance, Zunbeltz

MetaPost with etex/btex

Hello, The following code results in no label output: \starttext \startMPcode label.top(btex Some label etex, (1cm,1cm)) ; \stopMPcode \stoptext I'm using ConTeXt 2003.12.12. By the way, why don't \startMPgraphic and \stopMPgraphic do anything? David

texexec page selection changes output?

(Sorry if this is the wrong list, I could not find a better one.) I recently used texexec to select a given page from a file (attached) of three pages: texexec --pdfselect --selection=2 --result=cover2-tx.pdf covers.pdf It worked fine, but bnb noticed that the resulting cover2-tx.pdf was different then the original: it is offset to the right by a pica or so, and the "TUGboat" is moved down a similar amount. When I extract the same page from the same file with gs: gs -q -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=cover2-gs.pdf \ -dFirstPage=2 -dLastPage=2 covers.pdf -c quit the result is correct, i.e., the extracted page is identical (as far as I can tell) to the original. This happens with texexec 4.0 (and also with 2.8 and 3.1). This is just FYI in case it's a bug you want to fix ... karl
