Undefined control sequence: \pdfpxdimen

The drops module uses the primitive \pdfpxdimen in a couple of places, but that is no longer defined in the current beta. What is the equivalent command now? Examples of usage: \pdfpxdimen1in\relax\divide\pdfpxdimen\numexpr\dropsparameter\c! resolution\relax % set actual pixel dimension Aditya

Outputting custom types in MKiv bibliography

Hello, I’m trying to create my first publication using ConTeXt mkiv. All going well except for the bibliography formatting. Previously I have used LaTeX, standard entry types in BibTeX, and custom output formats using Biblatex. My publication cites lots of historical sources, viz.: (1) Newspaper articles — currently stored as ‘article’ types in BibTex. (2) Archival sources (historic letter, some leather-bound volume, a catalogued box of old photographs, etc.) — currently stored as ‘unpublished’ or ‘misc'. I would prefer to store these (in BibTeX, buffer, lua, or xml) as custom types (eg. ‘newspaper’, ‘archivalItem’), create setups for how they are output and which fields I output. I found a ’newspaper’ type (and other non-BibTeX types) defined in publ-imp-apa.mkiv as: \startsetups btx:apa:list:newspaper \fastsetup{btx:apa:list:article} \stopsetups I hoped this would mean I could output something: Boxing. (1903, September 13). The Sunday Times, p.8 However, if I create an item of type 'newspaper’ and \cite it I get an output of all stored fields: newspaper: [day: 13] [journal: {The Sunday Times}] [month: 09] [pages:8][title: {Boxing.}] [type: newspaper article] [year: 1903] A similar thing happens if I try to cite the standard BibTeX type ‘misc’. If I store the newspaper item as type ‘article’ I get: “Boxing.”, The Sunday Times, 8, 1903. (missing day and month) Is it relevant that there is a problem when I include \showbtxfields[rotation=30] in my document? The resulting table has ‘*’ for fields in ‘article’, ‘book’, ‘demo-a’, ‘demo-b’ but the columns for ‘newspaper’ and ‘misc’ are empty. Any pointers gratefully received. Cheers, Mike O’Connor P.S. Cross references to column numbers

Dear list members, how can I create cross references to column numbers? I have a two column layout with column numbers in the header instead of page numbers (actually, these column numbers are calculated from the page numbers). Now I want to create a cross reference that returns the column number of the target. How can I achieve this? Of course, I can get the page number with \pagereference (for the target) and \at (for the reference), but for calculating the column number (according to what I did in the header), I would also need to know whether the target is in the left or in the right column, and I can't see how I can get this information. For an example, see the question posted by me at stackexchange: https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/502944/context-cross-references-to-… Besides, I am wondering, regarding the generally very regular and consistent naming of commands in ConTeXt, why this is not so in the case of references. For example, to refer to a page, I need \pagereference (for the target) and \at (for the reference); to refer to a line, I need \someline (for the target) and \inline (for the reference), but only if I want it to automatically add the word "line" or something else before the number, otherwise I have to use \inlinerange. It took me some time to find that out. Wouldn't it be easier to have just one command for the target and another one for the reference, and everything else, as counters and headers to be returned, text to be added etc. to be configured by options? Luatex 1.08.0 announcement

============================================================== LuaTeX 1.08 2018-08-28 ============================================================== (1) This release is a prelude to 1.10, the next stable iteration of LuaTeX after version 1.00. (2) Lua 5.3 is now considered to be default and we might use 5.4 in version 1.10. There are no real functional changed expected. You still need to rename the binary for 5.3! (3) Binary mode is no longer available in MPlib but it is still available in stand alone MetaPost. This simplifies compilation and reduces dependencies. (4) The dependency on Poppler for pdf image inclusion has been removed. We now use a small dedicated library written by Pawel Jakowski. We no longer need c++ compilers. We're in the process of making it behave well on all platforms. It has been tested on intel platforms. (5) We know that there can be some (alignment) issues with the arm platform but these are looked into. Therefore, later this year we will release 1.09. Version 1.10 is planned for TeXlive. We hope that ffi works ok on intel and arm platforms at that point. (6) There have been some extensions to the Lua libraries and some callbacks have been added. Also, a few new primitives have been introduced. The documentation mentions the stable extensions. (7) There are the usual bug fixes and cleanups but there have been no real fundamental changes in the API. The LuaTeX team

Difference in right justification in LMTX

Dear list. Given the following MWE (could not reproduce with smaller example). \setuppapersize[A5][A5] \definefontfeature[base][mode=node, protrusion=quality, expansion=quality] \definefontfamily[mainfont][serif][EBGaramond][features=base] \setupalign[hanging, lesshyphenation, hz] \setupbodyfont[mainfont, 9pt] \showframe \starttext les bestes/ & sus toute la terre/ & sus tout reptile qui bouge sur surete sur la {\righttoleft terre. Dieu} donc crea l'homme a son image. \stoptext I notice that LMTX seems to add some small gap at right margin in the 1st typeset line. I attach the pdf I get with luatex and lmtx. The showframe directive makes it more visible. Joseph

List of Symbols/Abbreviations/Glosses with more then two entries

The synonym "sym" defined by \definesynonyms[sym][syms][\symdesc] can take 2 entries by default: \sym[<RefName>]{<ShortName>}{<LongName>} For theses and whitepapers in the natural sciences and in engineering it is needed to introduce another entry for the unit: \sym[<RefName>]{<ShortName>}{<Unit>}{<LongName>} (<-- This does of course not compile, take it as a feature request) e.g. \sym[Salpha]{\alpha\ }{$[W~m^{-2}~K^{-1}]$}{Heat Transfer Coefficient} where \sym[Salpha]{\alpha\ }{$[W~m^{-2}~K^{-1}]$ Heat Transfer Coefficient} cannot be a good workaround since \symdesc{Salpha} should not include the unit. And of course I want the unit entry to be in a separate column when calling \placelistofsynonyms[sym] In LaTeX I accomplished this with glossaries and glossary-mcols. Is there some neat trick to get this behaviour "the ConTeXt way" (maybe with some Lua + *.aux)? The next step would be to define the table headers of the list of symbols such as "Symbol \NC Unit \NC Description"... Thanks in advance and kind regards, Thomas

Documentation of change / Evolving documents

Hi, I often have documents that are not finished but need to change over time. A client changes their mind, laws are changed, … While working with the document, I want to see the changes. When the document is finally finished, I only want to see the change history. I came up with the following. When the mode is „change“ the date (or version) is shown in the margin and the change is printed in red. Without mode „change“ only the change history is printed. What I want now is to change the layout of the register. Adding some vspace around the date and printing the date in bold. Is there a way to achieve this or am I on the wrong way? Printing catchword or kustode

Hi all, Visiting a museum in Straßburg I saw an old book from Gutenbergs times where the first word of the next page was printed below the last line of the current page. The word, sometimes only a syllable of the first word from the next page, is called catchword or Kustode. They used it to ensure that they bind the pages in the right order. I think that it can also be of help if you read a book. Is this possible with ConTeXt? I could not find the word catchword, reclamans or kustode on the wiki. Lower limit of integrals shifted

Hi, the output of \setupmathematics[ integral=nolimits, ] \starttext \startTEXpage[offset=2bp] $\displaystyle\int_0^1x^2\,dx=\frac{1}{3}$ \stopTEXpage \stoptext is attached. Clearly, the lower limit in the integral is not correctly placed. With hope of a quick fix, Mikael
