Reinserting a section title followed by (continued) after a page break

I'm trying to use ConTeXt for playwriting, and I think it would be best to use sections for dialog. However, if a dialog's text is interrupted by a page break, it is customary to restate the character name followed by (continued) on the following page: --- open --- John My name is John, and I seek help with my --- page break --- John (cont'd) typesetting needs... --- end --- Maybe what I need is instead a mark? Here's a catch though, I will also need this to work for simultaneous dialog as well. This kind of dialog is represented by having dialog sections in columns: --- open --- Alice Bob John, you fool. John, you imbecile. --- page break --- Alice (cont'd) Don't you know that everyone uses Word to typeset their plays? --- end --- How can I do this kind of thing in ConTeXt? At the moment, I've been looking into adding a hook to shipout to prepend a section header with the last custom mark I've set. Even still, I don't know if this would work, or how to go about achieving this. If columns would be too difficult to implement, I'd be fine with living without (continued) support in them since they are pretty rare.

Nested itemize

Dear all, I'm struggling to setup a nested itemize with no blank line and several columns. xml: matches always child of other element

Hi, I must be missing something obvious, but in this example the pattern for <term> always matches the first element, not the one under the current <index-entry>. Interestingly, using xml:index-entry-2 instead of the normal version matches correctly... Any hints what is going off the rails here? Can ConTeXt write its pdf to a different directory?

My .tex file is in a directory within my working directory. I would like ConTeXt to write its output in the same directory as my .tex file. But it writes to the working directory. This was asked 10 years ago: `tex.stackexchange.com/questions/67928/how-to-set-output-directory-in-context-command` The answer given then was to use: `context filename --result=output-directory/filename` But this doesn't work now. When I compile my .tex file, I get a message: `results are to be on the running path, not on 'output-directory', ignoring --result` I've looked in the wiki: `https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Context` Thank you, Peter

Par Builder Tests

Hi all, At the end of June, Hans uploaded a new lmtx version which included improvements to par building which he and Mikael had been working on in math mode. Hans suggested in the online chat that these improvements may be useful in typesetting novels. I was keen to try these since I have typset novels in the past. I have ran some tests on two novels which I downloaded from the Gutenberg Project site as epubs and extracted them to get the original xhtml files which I then typeset in context. I made very little in the way of changes to the files so that my setup for xml was very simple. See the manual Low Level - Lines Test Novel1 Novel2 Test1 70 35 Test2 30 8 Test3 62 23 Test4 89 40 Test5 28 9 Optional1 55 19 Quality 74 32 Decent 39 11 From these initial tests one can see that Test2 gave the lowest number of overfull boxes. So I edited test two, ran it, and the results are below. In novel 2 this was successful in eliminating the overfull boxes but not in Novel 1 although I noticed that majority of overfull boxes were above 1pt with the largest about 12pt in Novel 1. I am at the stage now where I need some kind of strategy to reduce/eliminate overfull boxes, other than changing the tolerance, and I'm hoping for some advice from the community. Suggestions for further reading particularly on the commands in \setupalignpass and their usage would be appreciated and on the best way to tackle overfull boxes. Best Wishes Keith McKay

caption for moved sidefloat in the margin

Hi again, I’m reading through the details manual and set up some figures as sidefloats that are offset to the margin. This works well. Now I’d like to have their captions in the margin, below the figure. If I set location=innermargin, then the caption is beside the image, i.e. somewhere at the edge. If I don’t, I can’t get it to move to the left edge of the image. How can I do that?
