Overfull boxes using m-cweb

Hello, I am running into overfull boxes when including a weaved cweb file into a context document. The original reference to the cwebmac.tex file (the plain TeX macro) is commented out and replaced by \usemodule[cweb]. The cweb macros appear to expand something into \*11ptmmmt* which seems to have something to do with it. Is there anyone here with experience and deep (Con)TeX(t) knowledge who understands what is happening? compound titles, lists and headers

Dear list, my publisher forces me to set different things as titles, in headers and table of contents. Hello, I suggested to the author of the very feature rich LaTeX-Listings package, Carsten Heinz, to port this package to ConTeXt, and it seems, that he is interested. But before doing it, there are some questions: * What do Hans and other people thing about that? * listings.sty uses keyval.sty, how is the proper ConTeXt-way to do the same things as keyval, or should listings stay with keyval? Hi, I am not sure how a ConTeXt index register is generated and what role the tui and tuo files play. But could it be possible to manually "fine tune" the generated register? Something like from ... Keywords -- secret 35 -- popular 25, 26, 27, 88, 89 ... to ... Keywords see also Commands -- secret 35 -- popular 25-27, 88-89 ... just by typing the changes in one of those helper files? Steffen

ConTeXt on Debian: The wiki entry

Hi everybody, this mail has a double purpose. At the end, there's a call for testers of a new (planned) Debian ConTeXt package that would be updated more frequently than now (at least in unstable and testing), where ConTeXt is tied to teTeX's or TeXlive's release cycles. But first, I'd like to talk about http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Debian_installation Are some of the people around who wrote this? I found some information in it misleading and in part just wrong (this has already been pointed out two weaks ago by "plink"), and have started to edit the page to change the parts that give us, the Debian TeX maintaines, most headache. But in the lower part, "Steps to finish a first context upgrade", I felt lost. If these steps are really needed, then there's something seriously wrong in Debian's (and probably upstream's) packaging of ConTeXt. Therefore I didn't just change the text to reflect how I think it should work. Instead, we should try to figure out together whether it in fact does not work as it should, and then fix the Debian packages (hopefully still possible for etch). So the specific question I have are: - Is it intended that context formats end up in $TEXMF/web2c/pdfetex/? If yes, why is that so? If not, we should rather find out why it happens and fix it. - Why does it make a difference if the formats are created by fmtutil instead of texexec (Except for the output directory)? Should the upstream packaging be changed so that fmtutil is never used, but texexec, or should fmtutil be fixed to produce the same as texexec? Finally, here comes Norbert Preining's Call for Testers: Dear all! We = Debian TeX maintainers searching for users of the Debian Operating Systems which are also using ConTeXt. Currently Debian etch (testing) and sid (unstable) contains packages for TeX live 2005. But this contains a bit old ConTeXt version, so users are asking us to update ConTeXt. We have prepared a updated ConTeXt package for Debian, based on the latest released version (2006.08.08), and would ask you to help use testing, as we are not experienced in ConTeXt type settings. I checked some simple documents from the ConTeXt Garden, and they worked, but more detailed testing would be nice. If you have interest, please contact us at debian-tex-maint(a)lists.debian.org or, if you have a bit experience, you can straight away add deb http://www.tug.org/texlive/Debian/ context/ to your /etc/apt/sources.list file and install context. How to get a PhD with ConTeXt (+ hard work ;) )

Hi all, Maybe some of yours (from the ConTeXt POV) can be interested by my PhD dissertation and my presentation (both in french)... http://www.nibua-r.org/ConTeXt/PhD/ The slides are made to work under linux with sh script to run mplayer or custom simulations... These scripts will obviously not work without the movies or my simulator binaries... Renaud

bib and bibltx problems

Hi Taco, I ran into the following problems: 1. see attached files. Three bib entries with different authors, but the resulting references are the same for two of them (!). Appearantly, without sorting the bib entries, the extra label numbering does not work correctly. Changing \setupbibtex to "sort=short" fixes the issue (appending "a" and "b") as well does changing "ITERATE {presort.none}" to "ITERATE {presort.clabel}" in cont-no.bst. But is this a once-and-for-all fix? 2. see attached files. In \setuppublications, numbering is given as "short", but the resulting list of references is only as good as "yes" - I only get the numbers, not the short references in the list. Hmmm, what's the cause for this? Any ideas? Or is it My Fault(TM)? 3. In general: If I'd use bib handwriting \{start,stop}publication without bibltx, would I have to care about the uniqueness of the "short" document names (the "s=" option to \startpublication)? Really? Considering hundreds of possible bibliography entries, this would double the effort: Not only the key (the "k=" option) but also the short name must be unique for correct references. 4. Sometimes, the build process ("texexec --pdf test") breaks after changing some text in the bibliography. Appearantly, sometimes the .bbl file is not updated. removing the .bbl file fixes the build. No recipy available, sorry. formula, bookmarks and misc

Dear ConTeXters, 1/ I would like to use a named formula with a reference containing several subformulae each with a reference. The closer I can get to is to add an empty namedformula followed by subformulae (see test file below). How can I get rid of the empty line with a number in the pdf ? 2/ I'm using bookmarks but abbreviations in heads do not work properly. I've used a workaround some 3 years ago but I cannot remember which. Any suggestion ? (see test file below) 3/ What should I do to get the bookmarks numbered with their chapter/section/ etc. number ? (see test file below) 4/ How can I redefine the \vec command in my formulae without having a warning "system : command \vec is already defined" 5/ I do like a lot the minimum distribution so easy to install. It would be even better if bibtex can be added. It's only 82.8 KiB Thanks for ConTeXt (special thanks to Hans and Taco of course), it's really a pleasure to work with it. A new manual

What is needed now for greater acceptance of Context is not new features but a new manual, perhaps a multi volume set with a common index. The 2001 manual is great, but many of the features discussed daily here are not in it. One must chase around the wiki and the individual manuals like "details", and that is not satisfactory from the point of view of the new user. Most of us have memorized the locations of key information but newcomers have not. If a consolidated manual set were offered for sale there would be a lot of customers. xmldir : hyperlinks not working

Hi every Context lover/user, I came to using xmltools for building an long (boring) list of folders&files, with the idea of sharing a cdrom with "automount" niceties (shellexec.exe & autorun.inf telling to open the generated pdf).
