changing the symbol used in \footnote{}

I want to use the crucifix symbol as a footnote symbol on the title page of a book. I don't want this to increment the footnote counter. The best I can do is: \setupnotation[footnote][way=bypage, state=stop, number=†] but this does not produce any symbol at all. If I do: \setupnotation[footnote][numberconversion=set 2] then I get an asterix, not a crucifix, and I don't know how to prevent or otherwise reset the footnote counter for subsequent footnote numberings. fake slant for definefallbackfamily

I can define fake slant for a font with \definefontfamily[mainface][rm][My Fancy Font][sl=features:slanted] How can I do it with \definefallbackfamily? According to https://wiki.contextgarden.net/index.php?title=Command/definefallbackfamily , the following should work, but it actually doesn't: \definefallbackfamily[mainface][rm][My Fancy Font][preset={range:chinese},sl=features:slanted] Besides, the wiki page lists an option `range=...` in the last bracket, but what's actually used is `preset=range:...`. Are they mistakes?

Artifact in flow cell connection

Hi, I have a broken flow cell connection in this minimal example. The broken flow cell is only triggered when drawn within a subsection with an overlay. The logic to create the underlined subsection is by the way copied from the metafun manual source. I do not have the slightest clue what is going wrong in this example. Thanks for ideas. Downsampling images (again)

This is lying around for years, let’s try to get it finally working. The code below works, but doesn’t do the right thing. Since the original image doesn’t contain a resolution setting, gm doesn’t do anything: “gm convert: image does not contain resolution” It would be more reliable to use “gm convert -resize”, but for that we need to know the final pixel size. How can a converter function access … – the final (scaled) size of a placed image – the original pixel size of an image ? With that information it would be easy to calculate the target pixel size. (ConTeXt LMTX) (Beginner) how do i set up vertical CJK?

https://pastebin.com/Cg8ZPDVK I have the code listed above and I am wondering how I can get CJK text to be in a vertical form (along with Vietnamese. I know l2r as an option exists in startalignment, but there seems to not be a vertical equivalent for vertical text. How do I achieve this?

Low-level macro help needed

I have succeeded in many cases, but failed when the macro follows one particular group of patterns. Lemma in footer - some display issue

Dear CTX users, After many months of procrastination and after discovering Ekdosis for LaTEX, I've dived back into the issues of different levels of footnotes in order to display on the first level the current notes and on the levels below the notes concerning lemmatization. Unfortunately, while I'm quite satisfied with the first page of notes, a strange phenomenon affects the lemmatization notes on the 4th page: the number of the line concerned by the lemma overwrites the last letter of the word in the lemma or in the previous lesson. I can't work out the cause of this problem. Even something like the addition of : \kern0.5em doesn't help. Does anyone have an approach that I haven't intuited? Below a MWE :
