Label loops within a XeConTeXt document

Hi, given the following XeConTeXt document (I use ConTeXt ver: 2007.01.12): \definetypeface[MyMainFace][rm][Xserif][Charis SIL][default][encoding=uc] \definetypeface[MyMainFace][mm][math][euler][euler] \setupbodyfont[MyMainFace,10pt] \startuseMPgraphic{foo} for i = 0 upto 10: % Draw a label at position (i*cm,0) endfor; \stopuseMPgraphic \starttext \midaligned{\useMPgraphic{foo}} \stoptext is it possible to replace the comment with an instruction (or a macro), such that I do not get compilation errors and I get consistent font usage? I have tried the following possibilities: a) label("test",(i*cm,0)); % Complains about missing metrics for font b) label(\textext{test},(i*cm,0)); % Ditto c) label(btex test $x$ etex,(i*cm,0)); % Results in wrong font d) label(\sometxt{test},(i*cm,0)); % Ok, right font, but loop is ignored The best option to my knowledge is \sometxt, but I have read that it cannot be used in loops. Before I start unrolling all the loops in my figures 1) is it possible to specify the fonts in an MPenviroment? If so, how? 2) is there some hack, maybe along the lines of the following (not working) example? vardef prepare(expr n) = save s; string s; s = ""; for i = 0 upto n-1: s := s & "label(\sometxt{test},(" & decimal(i) & "*cm,0));"; endfor; s enddef; scantokens(prepare(10)); Nicola

Macro with suffix

Wierd problem.

On another list a listmate proposes to print a book in two copies side by side. The page size is 5.5 x 8.5 in. He wants to print two copies on his laser printer. He wants two impressions of page one side by side on letter paper, with two copies of page two on the reverse side etc. for 200 pages. Then he will guillotine the stack making two copies of the book. But wait, it gets worse. He is not resetting the book but has a pdf file as his source. I and others suggested the usual bit of using PSUtils to set four pages per sheet and folding them etc. but he doesn't want to get into folding. He has a guillotine and a binder. He doesn't have a folder. So, given a pdf file of a 5.5 x 8.5 book as a starting point, is there a sensible way to massage the pdf or its PS equvalent in a way to give him what he wants? Figure references problem with \setuparranging

Hello, After I uncomment the code below, my figure references are broken -- \in gives ?? instead of figure numbers. \setuppapersize [A5][A4,landscape] %\setuparranging % [2SIDE] I have found some solutions in the mail archive, but even if I comment, build, and then uncomment back \setuparranging, I still get ??. I also don't understand how to use --pdfarrage option, it seemingly does nothing alone. Is there any proven solution? And can this problem be solved on regular basis? Publishing A5 pages per one A4 is a normal practice in my university. BTW, I use XeTeX. -- Best, Vyatcheslav

Chinese, cyrillic questions

Hello all, I have a document which which is predominately English, but contains (currently) also 8 Chinese characters and 2 Cyrillic words (in the Acknowledgement section). First, regarding Chinese: I use: \enableregime[utf] \useencoding[cyr] \usemodule[chinese] \mainlanguage[uk] \language[uk] I would expect having mainlanguage != chinese would turn all enummerations to arabic numbers. However, I still have -, =, etc. in the table of contents, in enumberation etc. Is there a simple command to turn this off? Secondly, regarding Cyrillic: Currently, I follow loosely wiki.contextgarden.net and use \useencoding[cyr] \definetypeface [russian] [rm] [serif] [computer-modern] [default] [encoding=t2a] \def\RuText#1{{\switchtobodyfont[russian]#1}} On my system (TeXLive 2007 as provided by SUSE) bitmap fonts are used as the seemingly needed cm-super fonts are not included; the system, however, has cmcyr type 1 fonts. Howto have page size to fit with image size

Hi all, I want to produce a unique metapost image which should be alone on its page and its file, and I want to have a page the size of the image, whichever this size is. I tried this: \setupcolors[state=start] \setuplayout[width=fit,height=fit] \starttext \startuseMPgraphic{dummy} fill fullcircle scaled 5cm withcolor red ; \stopuseMPgraphic \useMPgraphic{dummy} \stoptext But the setuplayout options don't seem to provide what I want. goto and open file

Please excuse the Mac centric formulation of my question. If Folders B and C are in Folder A, is there a way to insert a link in a PDF file in Folder B that will go to a PDF file Folder C and open it? Thanks for any help or suggestions. Alan

Struggling with XeTeX

Hello Hans, I've updated original TeXLive2007 distribution to the latest cont-tmf beta, by copying \web2c into TeXLive2007\texmf folder and every other stuff into TeXLive2007\texmf-dist folder. Then I rebuilded the format files for both context and xetex (texexec --make en, then texexec --xtx --make en). Now xetex doesn't see the font that it previously did.
