issues with footnotes

Dear list, using beta from 2014-08-21 09:59, I’m trying to generate a document that has two bodies of notes: footnotes and linenotes. Since the document isn’t minimal, I include only the notes definitions: \definenote[dict] \setupnote[dict][setups=setups:linenote, n=2, rule=off, split=verystrict, scope=text, inbetween=\hskip1.5em] \setupnotation[dict][number=no, width=broad] \definelinenote[grammatical] \setupnote[grammatical][setups=setups:linenote, rule=off, paragraph=yes, split=verystrict, scope=text, inbetween=\hskip1.5em, compress=yes] \setupnotation[grammatical][numbercommand=, alternative=serried, distance=1em] The output can be found at http://www.ousia.tk/unbalanced-columns.pdf. In all four pages, columns in footnotes are unbalanced. Is there any way to get balanced columns in footnotes? The second issue is that the columnar footnotes don’t respect space before and after defined in \setupnote. How can I avoid this? (BTW, this also happens with the space before when paragraph=yes.) BTW, if I add the following code to avoid widows and orphans: \setuplayout[setups=*lessstrict] \startsetups[*lessstrict] \setup[reset] \widowpenalty=10000 \clubpenalty=10000 \brokenpenalty=0 \stopsetups The footnotes aren’t displayed in columns at all (http://www.ousia.tk/no-columns.pdf) Is there no way that I can avoid widows and orphans for the body text? Multi-page centered natural TABLE

Hi! How do I use a natural table to produce a table which is both: - distributed across multiple pages (split=yes) and - centered horizontally on each page. Using simplefonts and font protrusion in MKIV

How do I combine simplefonts and font protrusion using a font family like Minion for the main font and Myriad for the sans? I have both texlive 2014 and stand alone context dated about June 8. I can use either. -- John Culleton

Fany break - no solution?

May be it’s my fault, but I didm’ see any solution for this strange problem with the fancy break module. I must say that I didn’t the end of the conversation because it was to technical. So I don’t know yet: Is it my fault, must I change something? Or is it a problem with TexLive? Who can tell me what to do? Thanks!

Forcing a subheading page break

Dear Syndicate, \setuphead[chapter,section,subsection][page=yes] does not force the first subheading to have its own page: See attached, pages~1, 4, and 7... What do I need to get *every* heading in \setuphead to be started on a new page, including the first instance? \stopquotation and \endnote

Is it possible to use \startquotation..\stopquotation and have an endnote number follow the closing ''? If the \endnote is before \stopquotation, it ends up inside the '' character at the end. If it is after \stopquotation, it becomes the beginning of the next paragraph. G

[doifinset] how it works ?

Hello, I'm currently prepping my teaching material for my back-to-university. I want to design some conditional slides based presentation where I can select the slides that I want to show in my final presentation. My current attempt is to use : 1 - MKIV as I use currently only MKII; 2 - a counter is defined, that it is incremented at each slide definition; 3 - a commalist to indicate the slides that I want.
