placing an accent

Dear gang, A bug or feature? \t oo does not work in ConTeXt! `\t' is undefined. Anyway, I need something else. I want to place an accent midway over two letters. I looked at page 356 of the TeXBook for ideas but I can't seem to get things right. I want to place an extended tilda (\textfont3\accent"65 in Plain TeX) over the character pair `al'. I need a macro like \t{al} that places this character exactly midway over the `al', or any other pair of characters. The procedure analogous to the one Knuth uses for \t \def\t#1{{\edef\next{\the\font}\the\textfont3\accent"65\next#1}} does not work here. Aside: Can TeX be tricked into reading the ahead two characters so I can write \t al ? I realize that Knuth's \t does not really do this but takes a character from an italic font to give the illusion that it does. Thnx 4 your help Idris

Missing PageNumber in s-pre-03

Hello, I've used the s-pre-03 style and I encountered a problem with the generated graphics. The graphics depends on the page number and reads the page number from the PageNumber variable. Nevertheless, the variable does not get updated, it is initialized to 1 in the beginning of mpgraph.mp. It can be solved by putting PageNumber := \realfolio ; into the code, but this is a really ugly hack. Can you please track down where the PageNumber in Start/StopPage MP environment has been eaten? a metapost problem

hi I have again another metapost problem: I made the following picture: \setupoutput[pdftex] \starttext \setupcolors[state=start] \startMPpage path p; p := fullsquare xysized(2cm,2cm); fill p scaled 2 withcolor blue; path a,b,c; for i=0 step 1 until 9: a:= p enlarged (5mm-10mm*i/9,5mm-10mm*i/9); b:= a enlarged (-10mm/9,-10mm/9); c:= a --reverse b--cycle; fill c withcolor transparent(1,i/9,white); endfor; \stopMPpage \stoptext when I compile it an look at the result then the stripes are overlapping a little bit. how can I do this so that one stripe is next to the other without overlapping,but without a spece between them. greetings severin

I am happy to report some progress thanks to your help. reinstalled the context package; \protectbufferstrue is full of black magic; noticed that there shouldn't be any white space between with and color; Making more changes on the logo definition. Not quite there yet, but on the way. All in all getting better. Even the chart has gone back where it should be (I have no idea what the problem is/was). The draft still doesn't appear. Another question: - how to change the font of the logo text? Metapost problems

Hi, I am trying to insert the same picture in a text at different places and in different sizes. The logo looks like a bicolor square with white text on top of it. Any clues? I also try to have draft written in the right margin. I copied the text showed p156 of the Metafun manual (the second example from the top). Never had any success. Is there anything I am missing? Now weirder (to me at least). A bit further in my doc, I have a chart created with the chart module. I had to comment out the chart code. If I don't, all the logos and all the right margins (where I would like to see DRAFT) are replaced by the chart. And at the location where the chart is included, there is no chart (more precisely, there is no boxes and arrows but the labels are still there, scattered around over the text as an overlay). I am using teXExec 3.1 that comes with Cygwin. Any help is welcome. hyphenation: DIC / Composed Words

Twon questions concerning hyphenation: - I read the section 'composed words' in 'cont-en' and believe I understand it, *but* how do I handle this if my source file is DocBook XML which is typeset using 'DocBook In ConTeXt'? I cannot edit the composed words using the suggested '|' characters (at least not if my source file is processed by some other tool for another output format). - DIC maps the content of the 'url' attribute of <ulink> tags to ConTeXt's '\useURL' and '\goto' which works fine so far. But URLs tend sometimes to be very long and don't wrap at the end of lines automatically. I tried to add '\hyphenation{}' exceptions for every URL but get an error message like '.... is not a character'. Is there a solution for this? meta post problem

hi all I have another metapost probelem: I would like to have a shade effect like this: circular_shade(p,0,transparent(1,.25,white),transparent(1,.75,white)) ; but it seems that this doesn'n work wiht transparent colors. both of the transparent colors get black in the picture. Is there another simple solution to reach this effect? greez severin

I'm having trouble developing a coupling. In the code below, you'll see a skeleton example, after which follows a discussion, and then a bit more code. typing buffers doesn't obey spaces

This is related to Hans' suggestion for typing code next to text in tabulate environment. The following fragment has a slight problem: \definebuffer[CodeSnippet] \startCodeSnippet \starttyping first line second line \stoptyping \stopCodeSnippet When I do a \getbuffer[CodeSnippet] inside tabulate, the empty line is suppressed :( How to fix it (empty lines really do improve readability of the source)? BTW, why it is not possible to have \starttyping/\stoptyping inside 'p' column in tabulate?
