irregular typesetting area

Dear Contexers, I would like to repeat my question (see below) because I neither got an answer nor found a solution on my own. I believe that \defineoverlay cannot produce a solution for my problem because this command puts pictures in a different layer and so the main text is not affected (i.e. text is printed on top of underlying pictures). Are there any hints available? Ole I'm trying to produce an irregular (more than 4 corners) typesetting (main text) area of the following shape: ... (header) .... _____________________________________ ( logo / | ... text area ... | overlay background) | | ________________________| | | | ... ... | | | | | ________________________| | |(logo | | /overlay background) | ... text area ... | |___________________________________| The reason of this wish is not to overwrite the displayed logos or overlay pictures, which are used to form a common layout for a brochure. Btw., the orientation of the logos / pictures changes from even to odd pages. The measures of the logos / pictures prohibit a solution just by putting them in the header or footer. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance, Ole

headertext + cap/uppercased problem

Hi, I use \setupheadertexts [][{\it\getmarking[sectionnumber]~~~\getmarking[section]}] [{\it Chapter \getmarking[chapternumber]: \getmarking[chapter]}][] which works well. Adding \setupheader[style=cap] (or style=\uppercased) I get the following error. Any idea why? Tobias ! footnotes are lost!! endnotes don't work ? (URGENT)

Hi, as the commands "location=text" and "\placefootnotes" seemed to be unproblematic I decided to edit a book in ConTeXt with footnotes as endnotes - at the end of each chapter. Unfortunately there seems to be a bug: My first chapter has 57 footnotes. The first 17 footnotes fit (touching the bottom edge) on the first page (after the chapters end) and the following 40 are lost! Is this a known bug? Does anybody know what to do? Thank you very much, Steffen P.S. This is urgent - because when endnotes doesn't work properly I can't make the book in ConTeXt and so I have a big problem ...

Strange reference (\in ...) problem

Hello, I have \startcomponent foo \placeformula[eq:bdy:elf:Csigma-def] ... \informula[eq:bdy:elf:Csigma-def] % this works \stopcomponent \startcomponent bar \informula[foobar] % refers also to an eq. in 'foo' and works \informula[eq:bdy:elf:Csigma-def] % this one does not \stopcomponent I defined \def\informula[#1]{(\in[#1])} in *.tuo I have \mainreference{}{eq:bdy:elf:Csigma-def}{1::0:2:3:1:0:0:0::17}{23}{2.22} and in the log I get: references : unknown reference [][q:bdy:elf:Csigma-def] This is with ConTeXt ver: 2004.1.2 and also with ver: 2004.1.13. \enableregime, \setupbodyfont and the amsl module

Hi Hans and all, a user on it.comp.software.tex just noticed a funny interaction between the amsl module and an appropriate choice of fonts and encodings. The following minimal test file shows the problem: \setupbodyfont[ber,pos] \usemodule[nath] \enableregime[il1] \starttext \`e è un'attività \stoptext Notice that accented letters come out like letters with two commas below. The amsl module has to resort to this trick: %D Font Stuff %D %D First of all, we need Fraktur to be loaded correctly, something %D which ConTeXt doesn't do by default (at least by now) %D Can't find a better, faster, cleaner way to do it; %D it should probably be added to ConTeXt default for AMS, anyway \definebodyfont [12pt,11pt,10pt,9pt] [mm] [mc=eufm10 sa 1] \definebodyfont [8pt,7pt,6pt] [mm] [mc=eufm7 sa 1] \definebodyfont [5pt] [mm] [mc=eufm5] %D to make sure they get loaded, we make a font change %D we restore rm afterwards, not having a way to decide which one %D was active (anyway, rm is a pretty safe bet when loading %D a module \dots) \switchtobodyfont[mm] \switchtobodyfont[rm] So I *know* where the problem comes form, but I don't know how to fix this. Wrapping around footnotes

I'm preparing a paper in two column format, and I'm having issues with footnotes in one column affecting the text in the other column because the text in the other column stops at the same spot as the text in the column with the footnote rather than typsetting down to the bottom of the page. For example, I am currently getting: blah, blah, blah1 yammer, yammer, yammer blah, blah, blah yammer, yammer, yammer blah, blah, blah yammer, yammer, yammer blah, blah, blah yammer, yammer, yammer blah, blah, blah yammer, yammer, yammer ------ 1 footnote text here. footnote text here. footnote text here. Instead of this (which I want) blah, blah, blah1 yammer, yammer, yammer blah, blah, blah yammer, yammer, yammer blah, blah, blah yammer, yammer, yammer blah, blah, blah yammer, yammer, yammer blah, blah, blah yammer, yammer, yammer ------ yammer, yammer, yammer 1 footnote text yammer, yammer, yammer here. footnote yammer, yammer, yammer text here. yammer, yammer, yammer footnote text here. yammer, yammer, yammer How can this be done? I've tried playing with the various setup commands for columns and footnotes, but nothing seems to work. Any help is appreciated. William D.
