I am running a file and one line has a really ugly large overfull box. newbie question about fonts

Okay, this business of fonts/files/names/encoding/etc is really difficult to understand for me. I have a simple question. How do I list all fonts I have available to use in ConTeXt in the machine/system I have? Is there a file where I can see the names of all these fonts? And is there a template file or a command to display the entire set of characters once I know the name of fonts? FYI, I use ConTeXt with Linux Fedora Core 3. I appreciate your help Ciro

xecontext/bibtex issue ?

I suppose that, as usual, I am missing something obvious or simple. However, AFAICS it hasn't been discussed recently and isn't mentioned on the XeTeX wiki pages, so... What is the procedure for invoking bibtex as part of a "XeConTeXt" process ? I can't get this to work. If I run: texexec --xtx myInputFile first, then texexec stops after generating the xdv. This *always* happens with any input file containing citations, but *never* for input files w/o citations. (I'm assuming that texexec expects bibtex processing before generating a pdf since the xdv is full of unknown refs ? ) The problem is that bibtex "can't read" the .aux file that is generated by xextex. (This is a general case for all of my test files, all of which run fine as vanilla LaTeX and ConTeXt variants (haven't tried XeLaTeX, but don't need it anyway).) I can't run bibtex on my input file first obviously. Do I need to do something (seemingly crazy) like this: 1. "context" 2. bibtex 3. [modify input file preamble] 4. "xecontext" Or maybe there is a custom bibtex command for such situations ? ? wtia, mark.

I had a look at your file but I think my point is different: You still use only the predefined serif, sans etc. \usetypescript[serif]... \usetypescript[sans]... \usetypescript[math]... but I would like to use also \usetypescript[myserif]... and the corresponding \myrm (next to \tt and \ss). I don't know Hans' texnical term for serif, sans, mono, math etc. is (as used above). Steffen

I read and tried all the solutions that Hans and you found out up to now. But as soon as I set \enablemode[activecolon] \usemodule[tryout] in my local cont-sys.tex I am back to 8 runs again (either with Patrick's patch or with your line in .profile). Do you experience the same (or did I use the wrong .profile here on Mac)? This would mean that, when using ffr, we either have to ignore all this unknown reference outputs or fall back to 8 runs :o( Or does someone already has a solution covering both bugs? Steffen

cutspace and backspace

What does cutspace actually do? I have the following layout: \definelayout[chapThree][ cutspace=20mm, % the space on the right hand side of the page leftmargin=35mm, % the space for margin notes backspace=50mm, % the space in the left hand side of the page rightmargin=25mm, % the space for right margin notes width=fit, ] I thought that cutspace would create a non-writeable area on the right hand side of a page. But the above layout uses the backspace value of 50mm and seems to ignore the cutspace value. It also seems that I was wrong about the fucntion of backspace. Backspace is actually the area from the edge of the page to the body text. So it equals the the margin area plus the edge of the page. indenting list items.

I have a multilevel set of itemized lists but I want to reduce the indentation because it takes up too much room. In other words instead of 1. foo a. fubar * bar I want spacing like 1. foo a. fubar * bar So I put this at the head of my document: \setupitemize[packed,serried,atmargin][indentnext=no,align=left] Since I don't know which parameter affects which dimension, I used them all. None of them seem to do what I am looking for. The space between items disappeared but that was the only change. Second question: The definition of \setupitemize seems to use three sets of square brackets but \startitemize seems to only use two. So, at the \startitemize level, which paramaters go in which set of braces?
