Breaking large equations across pages

Pagebreak of formula across pagebreaks is broken in the new release (ConTeXt ver: 2006.04.27 15:59). Consider \starttext \placeformula \startformula \startalign \dorecurse{50} {\NC a \NC = b \NR[+]} \stopalign \stopformula \stoptext (This used to work earlier, I can not test this, but I have document where the display broke across pages. Can somewith with an old ~ Mar, 2006 release test this?) Also, is it possible to have more control over where the display breaks. With latex, I can force equation break by using \allowdisplaybreaks[1|2|3|4] \documentclass{article} \usepackage{amsmath} \allowdisplaybreaks %<------------ Try with and without this. \begin{document} \begin{align} a &= b \\ % Paste the above line 50 times a &= b \end{align} \end{document} Ideally, context should also provide something configurable. Maybe, it should be part of \setupformulas[displaybreak=tolerant|verytolerant|strict|verystrict] Also there should be something like \NC .... \NR \allowdisplaybreak[yes|no|disable...same meaning as in \page[....] \NC ..... \NR to have more control over the pagebreak. Part and pagenumbers

Hello, Whe I use \part, the pagenumbers switch to 'partno.-reset_pageno.' Can somebody please point out to me how to just have my pre-'part' page numbering run on? Thanks, Joh

mswincontext problems

Hi all (esp. windows users), Last night I tried setting up a Win98SE for use with context using mswincontext.zip (I borrowed a laptop for bachotek, so I could not install linux on it ... ). It went terribly wrong. At first I thought it was just the shoddy Win98 install on that machine, but Olivier tells me he also had problems installing the latest mswincontext, so I hope another someone who uses Windows98 can testrun the installation. I got all sort of errors from command.com (syntax error, out of environment space, command not found, permission denied), and the wiki page is definately incomplete so I could not really debug. In the end, I basically gave up. Cheers, taco

make array of tables

Dear all, I'd like to display several tables of the same size in an 3*2 array form. I tried the commands \placetables and \startcombination like in thd dispaly of figures, but it didn't work. My only solution is to use \startcolumns right now. Is it possible to use \startcombination in some way? Or, is there any way to perform such a display? Thank you for reading. Dalyoung

generating formats with newtexexec

solved - making array of tables

Sorry again. I copied and pasted the codes in mp-cb-en.pdf and run it. It worked fine. Hence I modified the codes using my data and it also worked fine. I compared the structures of the codes in the documents and mine. The only difference is the blank lines between ............ \stoptable}{talbe 1} \starttable[...... and it was the cause of the trouble. The other day, I had a trouble in using \head because I didn't insert blank line, but today, I made another problem because inserting a blank line. Anyway, it is good to know ConTeXt better. Cranky booklet layout.

First I built a letter-on-tabloid booklet like this: \definepapersize[tabloid][width=11in,height=17in] \setuppapersize[letter][tabloid] \setuparranging[2UP,rotated,doublesided] \setuplayout[width=7in,location=doublesided,backspace=0.73in, topspace=.0in,height=10.3in] This worked pretty well. For the next iteration I wanted to reduce the size by one half, in other words a half letter sheet on a letter sheet. I came up with this: \definepapersize[halff][width 5.5in,height=8.5in] \definepapersize[ful][width 8.5in,height=11in] \setuppapersize[halff][ful] \setuparranging[2UP,rotated,doublesided] Now no amount of fiddling with \setuplayout parameters seems to place the logical pages correctly on the paper. If I use no such parameters whatever the entire physical page image seem to slide toward the bottom of the piece of paper. As a result the bottom logical page slides halfway off the page. Can anyone spot an obvious goof? Hello, there is a misterious linebreak in the second example: abc\switchtobodyfont[ss]def abc\switchtobodyfont[,,ss]def Is this ConTeXt's fault or mine? Mojca
