Hans, What does generate formats under tools mean? I have to do something more than: texmfstart texexec --make all ? I'm afraid I don't know what "tools" are yet. Your example works! The difference to the example that I have posted is, that you gave the options [page,none] explicitly with \placefigure and I have used \setupfloat[figure][page,none]. So, what is wrong with using \setupfloat? Please try my example exactly as given and you will see what I mean. Wolfgang

A bug in character alignment?

Hello, I use ConTeXt natural tables to produce reports, and I use character alignment to align numbers in these tables. For example: \setupTABLE[column][each][align={middle,lohi}, aligncharacter=yes, alignmentcharacter={.}] But I have a little issue with character alignment. I have several tables following each other. First and second tables are well aligned. But following tables have some columns mis-aligned. You can see the result in the attached file report_with_bug.pdf (look at column 4 of tables 3, 4, 5 and 6). If I comment table 2, then the problem disappears. You can see the result in the attached file report_without_bug.pdf. If I uncomment table 2, but move it to end of file, then the problem disappears too. It seems there is some side effect in code managing character alignment: perhaps a global variable is not reset each time a new table starts? The attached file character_alignment_bug.tex contains the code producing the first example, where the bug is visible. I looked through core-ntb.tex and supp-ali.tex but was unable to understand where is the problem. We have lot of tables like this in our production, and some are horribles because of this character alignment issue... Thanks for your help! Nicolas Grilly

couple of metafun questions

Hi all, I'm experimenting with some metafun code and positional graphics to produce a nice illustration for an article. There's some basic questions I haven't been able to solve (and I remember that I couldn't solve them before but found workarounds, but this time it looks like I'm stuck): 1. Is it possible to have a MPpositiongraphics anchored to more than two positions? Like draw position1 -- position2 .. position3 ? 2. Related to 1.: Is it right that you can't anchor more than 1 MPpositiongraphic to one anchor? If I have: drawsomething position1 -- position2 I can't then say drawsomething position1 .. position3 but must work around by reversing drawsomething position3 .. position1 3. Is it possible to get a line/arrow dashed in two different colors, like red and blue? Sorry if these are silly questions, but I just dabble into metafun! Thanks, and best Thomas

column overflow at times --- any thoughts?

Hans et al, Any thoughts on this? We are using: \setupcolumns [tolerance=stretch, balance=yes, blank=flexible, rule=off, distance=2.5em] However, once in a while we get column overflow. See page 55 on: http://msenux.redwoods.edu/IntAlgText/chapter0/chapter0.pdf Are we doing this correctly? Any suggestions?

If the graphic is a little smaller, so that at least one line of text fit on the page, than the graphic gets placed at the right page, else the graphic is placed behind the end of the chapter. Second question: How can I place a fullpage graphic (\paperheight+epsilon,\paperwidth+epsilon) as above at the next page, and how can I count, but don't display pagenumbers for such graphic pages? All, Looks like: texmfstart texexec --make all Put the format files in: ~/Library/texmf/web2c/pdfetex/ I'll have to remember to delete these when I update using Gerben's Context updater.

units: \spacedimensionstrue fails when using unit powers

I'm considering switching from my units macros to the units module. In doing that I'm trying \spaceddimensionstrue (found in the m-units.tex source), which is the most common convention in physics tables and books, rather than using \Times to separate quantities with a dot. But it seems not to take account of the exponent in the first unit when putting space between the first and second units. Here's a minimal example: \usemodule[units] \spaceddimensionstrue \starttext % this looks fine \startformula \Meter\Second \stopformula % this needs a thinspace after the superscripted 2 \startformula \Square\Meter\Second \stopformula \stoptext
