ConTeXt, hyphenation

I've upgraded to the most recent version of ConTeXt now. I try to set Norwegian hyphenation by saying \language[no] \setuplanguage[no] however, as opposed to in the previous version, there are no hyphenations at all. I wonder if it is to do with the pattern file used – how do I set that? and how can I make sure that the correct patterns are used? -- Rolf Lindgren roffe(a)extern.uio.no

Thanks. I am now using section blocks to create meta-sections, so that inside the body-matter sections have no numbers whilst the appendices do. It works great. One minor problem though. I need the appendices to have labels, like: Appendix I, etc.. \setuplabeltext[appendix=Appendix] does not work in this situation what is the correct way of doing it? Thanks, Elliot

Hi all! I have uploadedanother repetition, this time with new package splitting: package context: all the normal stuff as before package context-nonfree currently only the cowfonts package context-doc-nonfree all the pdf documentation from below, plus style.pdf and details.pdf which Hans suggested. So the context package has changed as it now suggests both context-nonfree and context-doc-nonfree. The tarball for context-nonfree has changed, as it only contains the cowfonts. And context-doc-nonfree is new. Hi, I want to cite by numbers. Till now it get only empty brackets. My file contains: \setuppublications[criterium=all,autohang=no,numbering=bib,refcommand=serial,sorttype=bbl] with "refcommand=num" it was the same result. Hi, I'm still a relative newbie. I enjoy using ConTeXt and have achieved some great results with it, but some issues still trip me up. I'm typesetting a journal. I use \chapter to divide it into articles. I've defined my own heads, and I need to redefine \appendix, however despite reading the manual I cant get them behave as I want. Problems: 1. Each article may have appendices. I've tried defining my own 'appendix' head to replace the default one, but I can't decide which to use, should I derive from chapter or section? The problem with using section as the base, is that the count from my previous sections is inherited. I don't want numbers of the form 1.1, 1.2, etc, either. I want to number my appendices independently, starting from 1 without the chapter number. Also, I would like to use roman numerals. 2. I derived \Author from \section with expectation that \setupheadertexts[Papertitle][Author] would yield a header containing the author's name and the paper's title, however I get the title of the most recent section instead of the author. What can I do about this? thanks, Elliot

Manual (English) Update soon?

Hello again, I've just recently tried to "get up to speed" on ConTeXt by reading what I could find on the web, including cont-eni.pdf (ConTeXt the manual by Hans Hagen, November 12th, 2001). Recent activity on this list, discussing the Debian packaging, says (and I commented on this a few days ago in another thread): "ConTeXt is developed rapidly, often in response to requests from the friendly user community." And so I am wondering if ConTeXt is still too fresh... and if I'll have any chance of figuring out what/how to use it without having been on this list for the past 4+ years... (IIRC, Hans is also a core team member of LuaTeX, so perhaps I should just suck it up with LaTeX until LuaTeX is viable?) Advice, comments, etc. appreciated... --Doug

ConTeXt upgrade blues

OK, so the ConTeXt that comes with the TeX distribution I use (until eariler today, MacPorts, and as from later today, fink) is ancient. now, with good old LaTeX that's not much of a problem - just put the most recent release in the few relevant places in texmf-local, rebuild the formats, and off you go. with ConTeXt, that's, er, not so simple. the first attempt I made was to pull dowm the most recent version of the base files and then run sudo texmfstart ctxtools --update which seemingly worked, pulled the updates to texmf-local, and complied with no error messages. however, the new ConTeXt failed to compile documents, giving lots of error messages about undefined commands. texexec test.tex (which used to work) gives mktextfm: `mf-nowin -progname=mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1; nonstopmode; input ec-lmr12' failed to make ec-lmr12.tfm. kpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log. ! Font \*12ptrmtfrm*=ec-lmr12 not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not found. ruby `kpsewhich --format=texmfscripts texmfstart.rb` texexec test (which is in essence what the recommended shell script does) gives ConTeXt ver: 2005.01.31 fmt: 2006.12.30 int: english mes: english language : language en is active <protectionstate 0> system : cont-new loaded (/sw/share/texmf-local/tex/context/base/cont-new.tex ! Undefined control sequence. l.16 \newcontextversion {2006.12.27 11:34} now, according to several web pages, ec-lmr12 can be found on pragma's web, but it's not there. any suggestions? -- Rolf Lindgren roffe(a)extern.uio.no
