content of xml node (element) in lua

Hello! Processing XML I want to manipulate content of XML elements inside Lua. I can define the Lua function xml.functions.name(t), where processing happens, and use the command \xmlfunction{#1}{name} to pass the current node #1 from ctx to lua as described in the xml-mkiv.pdf manual. To access the element content xml.text(t,"/element") Lua function is used. However, using the same function xml.text("#1",/element) directly inside Lua doesn't work for me. Node #1 is available, but not the content of /element. \startluacode local node = "#1" local content = xml.text("#1","/color") context.par() context("node: ") context(node) context.par() context("lua: ") context(content) \stopluacode MWE (mkiv, beta) attached. I haven't found an example, so is it even possible? If so, which way is more efficient? Thanks, Jano

A Spanish introduction to ConTeXt Mark IV

Sorry. By mistake I sent the message as a reply to another one, when in fact I was trying to start a new thread with it. I'm sending it again (I think I'll do it right now): --------------------------------------------- Good morning to everyone. Although I guess it will not be of interest to most of the list members, I wanted to communicate that I have written an introduction to ConTeXt Mark IV in Spanish, which can be downloaded at https://webs.um.es/jal/docs/introCTX.pdf. Its title is "An Introduction (not too short) to ConTeXt Mark IV". ConTeXt is a wonderful document composition system, but there is not much literature to help you get into it, hence my initiative. The problem is that I've only been using ConTeXt for a short time and still have many doubts, so it's possible that the introduction may contain errors. As it has been written in Spanish I don't think many of you will be able to read it, but I would appreciate, of course, any suggestions for improvement. The document is, on the other hand, free and anyone who wants to include it in any ConTeXt distribution can, of course, do so. Also, if anyone wants the source files, I have no problem providing them. I have not based my introduction on LMTX because I think that for beginners a more stable system, like LuaTeX, is preferable. Finally, I apologize for my bad English level. I read it reasonably well, but expressing myself in it is much harder for me. -- Joaquín Ataz López Derecho Civil Universidad de Murcia

Hi, Because I'll probably forget to mention if, here is some new features (upcoming lmtx only): \definefontfeature[default][default,quality] \setupbodyfont[pagella] \starttext {whatever we want to achieve} \input tufte \setupalign[tolerant,stretch,hz] {whatever we want to achieve} \input tufte {\noexpansion whatever we want to achieve} \input tufte \stoptext That is: one can mark text to *not* use font expansion in an otherwise expansion (hz) context. I have no clue how useful it is. So, the first paragraph has no expansion., the second one has while the third one has except for the first 5 words. And yes, there's also similar trickery for protrusion, \noprotrusion, but i didn't test it. This is in addition the the already mentioned \nokerning and \noligaturing features that also obey grouping. All this in the perspective of (luameta)tex giving detailed control over matters. Some interaction questions

Hi, I have a few more question regarding interaction/PDF bookmarks and PDF links: - How can you ignore Commands in bookmarks? Like when instead of "The concept of {\em bookmarks}", I'd prefer to just have "The concept of bookmarks". I know I can just use something like \startchapter[title=The concept of {\em bookmarks}, bookmark=The concept of bookmarks] But is there an setting for that? - When clicking on a link, the focus switches to the target page. Is it possible to go to the line of the target? (Would be nice for switching between notes and text. Otherwise linking between notes and note markers would be quite pointless.) Best, Denis

Hi Hraban, I have an (old) Goethe-Zertifikat B1, which is not great (but better than my Spanish!). if you’re comfortable sharing your manuscript with me, I can definitely try to go through it and give you some feedback if you’d like! Hello Joaquín, I have been looking to get into ConTeXt for a few months now, LaTeX drove me completely insane when writing my Master’s thesis. I have been looking for an up-to-date introduction to ConTeXt as a whole, as I am still unable to get basic things working in ConTeXt after reading the ‘Excursion’. (I really tried to the best of my ability!) I just wanted to voice my support this book, as I feel that such a newbie-friendly resource would fill a gaping hole in the current ConTeXt ecosystem. I am considering having a stab at learning Spanish in order to (attempt to) read your book. Thanks for sharing, Niels E. J. Meijer

Export, page break markers

Hi, as I'm almost done with my PDFs for the first volume of our journal, I'm thinking about also publishing HTMLs. We have XSLTs almost ready for this, but I was thinking if I could use ConTeXt also for this. A very nice feature would be being able to add marking of page breaks in the resulting XML/HTML. The wiki says it's not possible, but I'm not so sure this page still reflects the current state of affairs. Is that possible by now? Other export related things that have changed in the last three years? Best, Denis

Consequences of \zwnj for hyphenation

Hi, has \zwnj (or the equivalent unicode character) bad consequences for hyphenation? Like, when you'd preprocess your files and add \zwnj in appropriate places, will that break hyphenation for these words? Best, Denis
