For the first question, I don’t know either. For the second question, I’d like to explain what I did for compiling TeX file in vscode. Since I use vscode in MacOsX, you may find your way in Linux. There is a tasks.json file in .vscode folder. I added the following script in the “tasks":[ ] and save it. (You have to modify the "texmf-osx-64/bin” path in the following script from your machine. { "label": "ConTeXt LuaMetaTeX", "type": "shell", "command": "export PATH=/Users/graph/ConTeXtLM/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin:$PATH;mtxrun --autogenerate --script context --autopdf --purge '${file}'", "args": [], "options": { "cwd": "${fileDirname}" }, "group": { "kind": "build", "isDefault": true } }, When you want to compile a ConTeXt file, find “terminal > Run Build task” in the menu, then “ConTeXt LuaMetaTex” will pop up. Index formatting difference LMTX and MkIV redux

Hello list, About two months ago (2020-08-26) I described a difference between LMTX and MkIV in the setting of index registers entries, and more particularly, in the trimming of text to fit the available width therein. I have now created a smallish example to demonstrate the problem. I do notice that the problem is very sensitive to the width settings, and slight variations in width create different results with both engines. Beside looking uglier, this results in a couple more pages for the same number of index entries. Reverse traversing of xml.collected()?

I’d like to travese the contents of an xml.collected() in a reverse order. I have for connectionFromXML in xml.collected(viewFromXML,"/connection") do parseXMLConnection( rootFromXML, connectionFromXML, viewFromXML, rootFromOverrideXML) end I tried: local relationTable = xml.collected(viewFromXML,"/connection") for i=#relationTable, 1, -1 do connectionFromXML = relationTable[i] parseXMLConnection( rootFromXML, connectionFromXML, viewFromXML, rootFromOverrideXML) end But apparently my lua knowledge is lacking (severely, I might say) as this ends with “attempt to get length of a function value “ What is the correct way to do it? force index entries without page number

Hi, I’d like to have an (person) index entry like Ramm, Hraban passim i.e. without actual page number. How can I force that? I also need to be able to refer to it like \seeindex{Hraban}{Ramm, Hraban) Hraban

Bug: context/mtxrun makes Firefox eat up cpu

Hi, sorry if this is not the best place to file a bug but I found no working bug tracker for context. Environment: Manjaro 20.1.2, context 2020.09.20 23:02, firefox 82.0 Step to reproduce: 1. `firefox --safe-mode # start firefox without add-ons` 2.a`context --version # or --help, or without arguments` 2.b or: `mtxrun --script font --list --all` Expected behavior: Nothing surprising should happen. Actual behavior: Firefox suddenly eats 100% of cpu I've noticed that `context` symlinks to `luametatex`, but the latter itself does not trigger the bug, neither do `luatex` or `latex`, so I believe this is a context-specific thing. Adding built-in support for Serbian language

Hello all, I have recently started using ConTeXt. I've found that the distribution includes a proper (cyrillic) hyphenation file for Serbian language, but a complete language support is still not implemented. Therefore, I've added what I think is required, did some testing by putting changed files in my texmf-local, and the result looks fine. There is only one thing that requires a decision from the development team. Serbian language uses two scripts: cyrillic and latin. Context language codes are using 2 letters for identification. So I'm not sure how to include both scripts. What I'm sending now is a cyrillic script implementation, using the code "sr". It is trivial to generate (completely automatic) latin script version of these changes, once it is decided how to label it. Best regards, Ivan

Hi, I might have uploaded a new version by accident so be careful when you update. Make a backup first. Sorry, The test suite compiles, which doesn't day all is ok as i just run it. There are no funcional changes, only a bit of conceptual reworking of some internals in the process of adapting to new features as well as protection, so \starttext \start \def\framed{oeps} \stop \stoptext is permitted, but when you run with context --overloadmode=warning you get a warning and with context --overloadmode=error the run aborts. Here is a user macro example: \frozen \def\foo{oeps} \def\foo{oeps} % warning or error \overloaded\def\foo{oeps} % okay eventually all system macros will be way more protected, being primitive, permanent, immutable to mention some of the possible properties. It's work in progress as you can imagine some pitfals and in order for it to work well quite some has to be flagged. Also, I have to play with some related additions. (This version also makes more extensive use of some new macro features but that's for later.) index entries postponed if sections are empty

Hi, I‘m despairing about my index – some sections contain only an image (\externalfigure), but I need to set several index entries for the image contents. The index entries get postponed until after the next chapter. I guess the problem is that there’s no (text) content, but \par and \strut didn’t help. The MWE shows that index entries in empty sections are ignored, i.e. “Something” is supposedly only on p.6: \usemodule[visual] \starttext \dorecurse{5}{% \startchapter[title={\recurselevel}] \dorecurse{5}{% \startsection[title={\fakewords{3}{5}}] \index{Something}\index{A\recurselevel} } \stopchapter } \completeindex \stoptext What can I do? Loading modules in Windows

Hi, In Context MKIV I always used the gnuplot module. I switched to Context lmtx on MS Windows but seem to have great difficulty loading the Gnuplot module. Any suggestions? Thanks jeroen

HI, With the recent versions of luamatatex (2020.09.20), in a moderate sized project, I get a multiple messages of on the terminal ........................................... mode = 0 [save] [setmatrix] [save] [setmatrix] [setmatrix] [restore] [restore] [literal]........................................... data = 0 w S 0 g 0 G 0 g 0 G 32.875 67.393234 m 26.511902 72.707367 20.076431 76.811981 13.572296 82.470184 c [etc] ............................................................................................................................... mode = 0 [literal]............................................................................................................................... data = % mps graphic 1: end It seems like metapost to PDF code is being printed to the terminal (not sure about that). I also see messages like: [latelua]..................................................................................... data = function: 0x5585588b4250 [latelua].......................................................................................................... data = table: 0x558557a5ab90floatblocks Any idea what is causing these and how to I disable them.
