devanagari is missing an accent in newest beta

Disclaimer: I know nothing about devanagari, I can only describe changes visually ... I installed yesterday the newest context, and one of my examples of devanagari is now missing an "accent". I'm rather confident that the output was different before the update as I made screenshots when testing this with luaotfload. what defines the font size?

Dear list, sorry for this basic question, but what defines the size in a font? I mean, we can take TeX Gyre Bonum and TeX Gyre Adventor at twelve points. x-height is different, M-width is slightly different. I thought it was the same A-height, but it isn’t. If two fonts have the same size, I think there may be a dimension which has the same length in both. Which one is this? Questions to font family Pagella

Hi all, I am doing some first tests with fonts (related with our font testing intentions) and I found out that since 2015 there are two sets of files for pagella with the same metadata by otfinfo -i. Eg.: 152192 /usr/local/texlive/2018/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/newpx/TeXGyrePagellaX-Regular.otf 144472 /usr/local/texlive/2018/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/tex-gyre/texgyrepagella-regular.otf The only one difference is in the license note: "Copyright 2013--2015 Michael Sharpe for added superior figures, letters and symbols." at files from newx directory. 1. Why the distribution (TL 2018) contains two versions of the same font family? 2. How can I recognise which one was used for the document after \setupbodyfont[pagella]? 3. On my disk I have got also one older version (1.011) of pagella (I do not where I took it from) which contains more(!) characters than the current one (2.004) where eg. the subset of cyrillic characters is missing... Why the newer version contains less? mtxrun --script fonts --reload: Question to behaviour

Hi all, doing some test with fonts I discovered that mtxrun--script fonts --reload crashed (line 479, TL 2018) on existing directory if this directory has incorrect permissions (in tested case I set 000 for making the directory and its subtree completely invisible). Splitting long floats

Dear list, motivated by https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/455484 I was trying to split a long float across several pages. It also works but instead of the caption I see “there is nothing to split” at the end of the listing. The source file documentation of \splitfloat suggests that this is intended for tabular material. Is is possible to split other material as well? Odd/even page test

Hello, I need to check whether even or odd page is to be printed. I'm starting with the following simple code: ---- \def\T{\ifodd\pagenumber ODD\else EVEN\fi} \starttext \dorecurse{2}{\T\page} \startTEXpage[width=50mm,height=150mm]\stopTEXpage \dorecurse{2}{\T\page} \stoptext ---- Why "user defined page" #3 is skipped in page numbering, so headers shown are: 1 - 2 - (nothing) - 3 - 4 and "ODD"/"EVEN" and text is "ODD" - "EVEN" - (nothing) - "ODD" - "EVEN" instead of: 1 - 2 - (nothing) - 4 - 5 and "ODD"/"EVEN" and text be "ODD" - "EVEN" - (nothing) - "EVEN" - "ODD"? ConTeXt mathematics macros

Hello list, As a new user of ConTeXt, I have some trouble on trying out various mathematics modules. I tried to use the nath module by directly including `\usemodule[nath]` in my source file. It seems that the module is not loaded. I read through the wiki page and found that nath is not included in the TeX Live distribution, but I failed to find a way to install it. Also, when I hunted through the wiki articles, it stated that the newmat module is included by default, but I never find it in my TeX Live 2018. Am I missing something or is the wiki outdated? By the way, I am looking for a "battery included" math module, which provides predefined macros like the absolute value symbol, derivative, and partial derivative. Any recommendation or advice on this? Thanks! Shuxian Wang

The program I used to design one map is not convenient for writing key to symbols, and what I have is a map.png file with big spare space on its upper left corner. So I have either to write on the png with ImageMagick or GIMP, or have a nicer output with ConTeXt.
