According to the xelatex output in the following example both variants are not correct. What would be needed would be the first two glyphs from variant 1 (knd2 script) and the third from variant 2 (knda script). Font Awesome (again)

Hi, There is a FontAwesome.otf file that is distributed with ConTeXt minimals. Does anyone know what version (4 or 5) of the font it is? I am asking because the names of the symbols used in the font do not match those on the font-awesome website. For example, using \showsymbolset[fontawesome] I get that the symbol for "utensils" (https://fontawesome.com/icons/utensils?style=solid) is actually mapped to "food" in ConTeXt. Since the names of the symbols are now taken from the font, my guess is that the distribution has an old version of the font (also because it is a single font rather than three). Would it make sense to update the fonts in the distribution? If not, then simply remove the old version of the fonts? Also, don't we need to update the symb-imp-fontawesome.mkiv file to work with the new symbols. Font awesome has split the fonts into three (https://fontawesome.com/how-to-use/on-the-desktop/setup/getting-started) Solid, Regular, and Brands. (There are also pro version of the fonts). The simplest way to use them will be to have three symbolsets (fontawesome, fontawesome-solid, and fontawesome-brands), where the names are taken from the fonts. Issue with ligatures before dashes

This was reported on the LuaLatex list yesterday, and I extended the example to include ConTeXt compounds. From my test folder: %% No ligatures before dashes! Reported as: “ligatures before %% dashes not working with LuaLaTeX 1.07.0” on comp.tex.luatex, %% 2018-10-29 by Toni Dietze. This is also a problem with ConTeXt, %% and is a problem with compounds as well. The problem is worse %% with 1.09.0: With 1.07.0 (6686) it fails with the bare hyphen %% but had no problem with en-dash, em-dash, and the compounds %% shown below. wrong hyphenation in ancient Greek?

Dear list, I have the following sample: \mainlanguage[agr] \setupbodyfont[dejavu] \starttext \startTEXpage[offset=2em] \hyphenatedword{πρᾶγμα πράγματος} \stopTEXpage \stoptext that ouputs: πρᾶ-γμα πρά-γμα-τος As far as I know, two consonants in ancient Greek aren’t hyphenated, when they may begin a word. Γν may be the beginning of word in Greek (such as γνῶσις), but even LSJ has no word that begins with γμ. Am I missing something or should this be improved in the hyphenation patterns? Table "modules"

Hello all, Looking at management of global Lua tables (for the obvious cases ...), I notice that all of the core Mk IV files use the construct if not modules then modules = { } end modules["<file-name"] = { -- meta-data here From a ConTeXt point-of-view, is it acceptable for third-parties to use this construct, or is it 'ConTeXt maintainers only'? I'm wondering for code used generically: it would be good to use the same approach, but I don't want to tread on any reserved namespaces. Joseph

columnset regression

Hi, LuaJIT did not work on OpenBSD 6.3 texlive* packages. I can live without it anyway. Does this mean that a ConTeXt live install will be available on OpenBSD 6.4? As usual I would be highly interested, even more since I discovered that using official packages (TL-2017 btw), you have to load everything to get context, since texlive-texmf-full is a texlive-texmf-context dependency. optical bounds in ConTeXt

Typesetting abbreviations

What is the correct way to typeset an abbreviation in ConTeXt? The space after the full stop seems too big and if I use \thinspace, I cannot use ties. No command - space is too big \starttext Mr. John Doe \stoptext With tie - space is too big \starttext Mr.~John Doe \stoptext With \thinspace - looks right except at an end of line \starttext Mr.\thinspace John Doe \stoptext Any suggestions are welcome! Possible seeindex enhancement

List, I am looking for a way to modify the text used for \seeindex (in English, "see") to have two types of seeindex result in the same index register. I would like to produce, for example, pseudepigraphy, 103,/see also obliteration/ and at the same time be able to produce the standard Marut, Ret,/see Traven, B./ For the first of these in print documents (no interaction required) I can use \seeindex{pseudepigraphy}{also obliteration}, but that does not produce an interactive link. Can anyone suggest how to accomplish this? -- Rik //
