Math align with \startcases

Hi everyone, This question is primarily intended for Aditya… but I guess other fellows on the list can also help me solve the following alignment problem: Is it possible to have an alignment like the rsult of the following with \startcases...\stopcases? \starttext \startformula \startmatrix[align={right,left,right},distance=3pt,left={\left\{}, right={\right.}] \NC -\Delta u + g(u) \NC{} = f \NC \quad\mbox{in } \Omega\NR \NC \displaystyle {\partial u \over \partial {\bf n} } \NC{} = h(u) \NC \quad\mbox{on } \partial\Omega \NR \stopmatrix \stopformula \stoptext Actually I used to have such alignments with the following structure (in good old plain TeX...): \starttext \startformula \cases{ \eqalign{ -\Delta u + g(u) &= f \cr \displaystyle {\partial u \over \partial {\bf n} } &= h(u) \cr } \quad \eqalign{ &\hbox{in } \Omega \cr &\vphantom{{\partial u \over \partial {\bf n} }} \hbox{on } \partial \Omega \cr } } \stopformula \stoptext (which gives approximately the same result as the first example above, but clearly the math-alignment structure set up by Aditya and Hans is much more elegant. (Although I prefer the vertical distance between the lines obtained with my plain TeX structure: by the way is it possible to fine tune such things in ConTeXt). So my question is: whether one can use \startcases ...\stopcases instead of \startmatrix ... \stopmatrix in order to obtain the result of the plain TeX example? Thanks in advance: OK

A few questions about aligned maths

Hi everyone, I read carefully the two 'My Way' from Aditya regarding math alignment (thank you for those, they were extremely useful to me, and should maybe get even more visibility on the wiki), and I have some questions about it: 1) Is there a way to modify interline spacing in 'cases' environment? I find it a bit short when using the displaystyle option. 2) I noticed that the interline spacing is not the same in the 'align' and 'aligned' environment (it's larger in 'align'). Is there a way to make 'aligned' use the spacing of align? It looks better with displaystyle maths. 3) Aditya, I saw your remark in your 'My Way' concerning the 'multline' environment. I must admit I would really be glad to see it appear in ConTeXt! I'm afraid I'm not able to implement it myself... I use it a lot with amsmath: when a formula is just too long for one line, I put it on two with multline. The first part of the formula is left aligned on the first line, and the second part is right aligned on the second line. It seems impossible to get the same result with only 'align'. Would it be difficult to make it available in ConTeXt? Best regards, Morgan

weird bug updating minimals

Hi all, Mojca, after Taco resolved one issue with the latest luatex, I was trying to update on my osx-ppc box, and I am encountering a strange bug: when I run the ./first-setup.sh script, the rsync processes fail with this message: MtxRun | using script: ./bin/mtx-update.lua dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libiconv.2.dylib Referenced from: /bin/sh Reason: Incompatible library version: sh requires version 7.0.0 or later, but libiconv.2.dylib provides version 5.0.0 and so on. Now this box has several more or less abandoned installations of darwinports and fink, but this looks like it's trying to link to the library provided by the system (OS X 10.5.6) and complaining it's too old. Any pointers to this one? All best Thomas

MPgraphic with rounded corners

Hello all. I have adapted a bit of MP code from Aditya from a mailing list message dated 2006-05-19 (http://archive.contextgarden.net/message/20060519.214124.9174ac0e.en.html) to ensure that when a page break occurs in a textbackground there is a forced vertical space inside the box at the top of the new page. This code works fine for me (although interestingly not in the garden): \setupcolors[state=start] \startuseMPgraphic{mpos:par:myexample} path p; for i = 1 upto nofmultipars : p := multipars[1] topenlarged 8pt bottomenlarged 8pt; fill p withcolor 0.9white ; draw p withcolor black withpen pencircle scaled \MPvar{linewidth}; endfor; \stopuseMPgraphic \definetextbackground[ExampleBackground] [mp=mpos:par:myexample,location=paragraph,leftoffset=1em,rightoffset=1em,rulethickness=1pt] \starttext \input knuth \endgraf \starttextbackground[ExampleBackground] \dorecurse{13}{\input knuth \endgraf} \stoptextbackground \input knuth \endgraf \stoptext But now I need to make this box have rounded corners, and I am very confused when reading core-pgr.tex because that is a level of MP code I just don't understand.
