LuaTeX and Unicode Math

Hello, While trying to convert some stuff from HTML to PDF (using LuaTeX) I have noticed some minor problems: unicode math characters work OK in text mode (under assumption that the font has them), but not in math mode. In pdfTeX they work OK in both cases. (That behaviour is expected, but not necessary desired.) Is there any cure to it? % in LM, most characters are not present in otf fonts, so with LM this wouldn't work at all. currentheadnumber / doif.. problem

Hi, I tried to get the full present heading-number. If I am using currentnumber the result is only the last part of the heading-number. So I tried do implement a function like this: \def\presentheadnumber% {\doifelse{\headnumber[section]}{}% {\headnumber[chapter]}% {\headnumber[section]}% } but always the else-part is executed. I also tried to use doifemptyelse, doifnumber etc.. but as soon i am using headnumber[...] only the else-part will be executed. Can anyone help me with this problem? Or am I going a complete wrong way? Thanks

slanted and extended fonts in XeTeX

To all XeTeX enthusiasts, I have just figured out (after Jonathan's post on the XeTeX mailing list) that the new XeTeX supports some interesting features. You can check it out (it might be that it only works with ConTeXt 2007.09.28 and XeTeX 0.997): \definefontfeature [slantedandextended] % cloned from the rest of XeTeX, not really needed [method=node,script=latn,language=dflt,liga=yes,onum=yes,kern=yes, slant=0.25,extend=1.5] \definefontsynonym [myfont] [file:texgyrepagella-regular][features=slantedandextended] \starttext \definedfont[myfont] This is slanted and extended \stoptext This specific font doesn't need that feature, but there might be others :) Mojca

encoding/compiling issues (macosx)

Hi to all, we (I and Miriam, who is in CC, but she should be now on the list) are setting up our ConTeXt installation in order to (re-)typeset the academic journal we are editors. We are both on macosx: the idea is to use XeTeX. I installed on Miriam's macbook mactex, and I also have updated it from the mactex site. Exactly like mine. We're experiencing this problem: we have an utf 8 text and I'm compiling with no problem on my machine. On Miriam's one 1. if we compile with ConTeXt-pdftex (specifying the regime) we are having little black boxes near the non-ascii char (i.e. an accented glyph is rendered as non accented glyph + box) 2. if we compile with XeConTeXt the resulting pdf simply skips the accents (e.g an accented glyph is rendered non accented) More: We can't do ctxtools --updatecontext it complaint it cannot fetch the zip Differences: 1. I am on macbook pro, she's on macbook (both on 2007 intel) 2. I'm using the English version of the macosx system, she's using the Italian one. problems with luatex

9pt with \setupbodyfont[10pt,rm]: bug or feature?

Hi there, I have the following code from ConTeXt wiki. I tried it in http://live.contextgarden.net/ and the output is correct. But when I tried it in the ConTeXt from TeXLive 2007, the metapost graph is not displayed in the final pdf file. How to realize rubytext in Context?

Math-mode is not a solution as the line-breaks with longer rubytext - but maybe it is the only way. Hints are very welcome. luatex on debian

debian (unstable,testing?) users can get a snapshot release of luatex in apt package form. This works for me, but there are a few things that needed slight adjustment, so I wanted to report them here to encourage others to start testing it. I needed to set TEXMF=/etc/texmf. Luatools doesn't seem to handle the {..} in the variables that are combined in TEXMF. Also, when it didn't find AlProTex.sty, the message indicated that it couldn't find AlProTeX.sty ('x'-->'X')! For testing, you can just set some simplified TEXMF, e.g.,: export TEXMF={$HOME/texmf,/usr/local/texmf,/usr/share/texmf-texlive,/usr/share/texmf} or you can edit /etc/texmf/texmf.d/05TeXMF.cnf to simplify things like: TEXMFDIST = /usr/share/texmf-{texlive,tetex} In my case, I no longer have texmf-textex, so this became just TEXMFDIST = /usr/share/texmf-texlive Then run: "update-texmf" and "luatools --generate" You can check the TEXMF variable with: $ luatools --expand-var TEXMF More tests to make sure the configuration is working: $ luatools msam7.afm /usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/afm/bluesky/ams/msam7.afm Then build the format: $ luatools --ini --verbose --compile cont-en and compile something: $ texexec --luatex foo TeXExec | processing document 'foo' TeXExec | no ctx file found TeXExec | tex processing method: context TeXExec | TeX run 1 TeXExec | writing option file foo.top TeXExec | using randomseed 967 TeXExec | tex engine: luatex TeXExec | tex format: cont-en This is luaTeX, Version 3.141592-beta-0.11.2-2007092410 (Web2C 7.5.6) (./foo.tex ConTeXt ver: 2007.09.28 16:52 MKIV fmt: 2007.10.12 int: english/english [...] -- George N. Feature request for backgrounds

Hi Hans, can you provide a backgroundimage key for localframed (ot use it in framed) and fastlocalframed (to use it in \setupbackgrounds) to create something like: \setupexternalfigures[location=global] \setupcolors[state=start] \starttext \defineoverlay [Wallpaper] [\backgroundimage{1}{\paperwidth}{\paperheight}{\externalfigure[cow]}] \setupbackgrounds [page] [background={color,Wallpaper}, backgroundcolor=orange] \startstandardmakeup \stopstandardmakeup \stoptext I want to write the above example in the following way, \setupbackgrounds [page] [background={color,image}, backgroundcolor=orange, backgroundimage=cow] The same mechanism should be also possible for \framed. It should be possible to enable a image and a backgroundcolor at the same time to have a fallback mechanism for the case there is no image available or I want a colored background behind the image. I have also a few wishes for \backgroundimage command in core-box, is it possible let the graphics start in the left top corner and crop it only at the ride side and at the bottom like the default bahaviour in html. Shouldn't the \scratchbox in the \nextboxwd test be a \nextbox. Wolfgang
