hi there, i was wondering if there was a quick and dirty equivalent for latex's \usepackage{pslatex} http://ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/pslatex/#jh1c2c136f7e9809d…: This is a small package that makes LaTeX default to `standard' PostScript fonts. It is basically a hacked merger of times.sty and mathptm.sty, from the psnfss suite of packages. You must have installed standard LaTeX (LaTeX2e) and psnfss PostScript fonts to use this package. thanks. -f -- en taro adun

Hi, Aditya— This works perfectly (after changing the Yen-signs for backslashes). It behaves as expected when adapted and will be a great help in producing a number of the TOCs that are on my horizon. Dear Thomas, Mojca, and Otared, Thank you for the instructions. I think that I followed the instructions of installation without problems. But I have a problem running luatools. A few week ago, I succeeded running luatools --generate, but not luatools --ini --... after making .luatex containg variables like TEXMF, TEXMFCNF, etc. I removed gwTeX and reinstalled MacTeX, I did the same steps of installation and I got the errors. At this time, even "luatools -- generate" didn't run correctly. It is ooking for the wrong folder. I tried "setuptex"(copy setuptex to the binary, and chmod 755 to run), but it asked me to "provide a proper tex directory like / something/tex" It seems to me that luatools are not able to get the texlive home dirextory. I may try once more using another mac because sometime it behaved differently. Thank you for your concern. Best regards, Dalyoung

Hello, Years ago I installed TeXLive with ConTeXt - it works fine until I reinstalled my Windows and changed drive structures. So, I wanted to refresh my installation with newest MikTeX. After that I have a problem with polish fonts - in older version I have used: % --translate-file=cp1250pl \setupbodyfont[plr,12pt] \mainlanguage[pl] \language[pl] and it worked fine. But with current installation I have missing polish characters (all) within these settings. After hours of searching the web I have found setting: \enableregime[cp1250] and it works. Almost. I have found that using with \setupbodyfont[plr,12pt] makes replacing of polish character ± -> ¼ (at least). If I remove \setupbodyfont[plr,12pt] I have problem with upper Greek letters in math mode - all are missing. With setting above is fine (except this ±-¼ problem). If any thread with the same problem? I could see similar posts but I am not sure if root of the problem is the same - sometimes proposed solution is quite complicated for not advanced user ;) Maybe some polish user more familiar with ConTeXt had the same problems and can help? ;) PS. Of course I have made: texexec --make en texexec --make --language=pl --bodyfont=plr en after installation -- best regards ml.

LuaTeX on Mac OS X

Dear Dalyoung, Like many other ConTeXt users I followed up the many threads about how to install, successfully, LuaTeX. In particular I was interested in your experience since I had more or less the same problems as the ones you described in your latest messages on the list. Now my question is: did you succeed to install and use LuaTeX on Mac OS X? --- If yes, could you please describe how you did proceed? --- If no, this means we have to wait more for our salvation... Problem with generated PDF

Hi, I'm trying to send my resumé to people I know as a PDF file created using Context (the minimal version on Pragma site, running on Ubuntu linux). However, many of them (but no all) say they can't open the file. What are the possible causes for that, except e-mail problems? Thanks, Maurício

MikTeX and XeTeX now available

Dear all MikTeX fans, Just to let you know: MikTeX 2.7 beta 3 should work OK with ConTeXt & XeTeX (with yesterday's ConTeXt update). I have experienced some problems with fontconfig & admin rights, but in general it could or should be OK (I didn't try the very latest version). If you experience any problems, they should be reported. Mojca PS for Hans: the -tcx flag removal has been implemented at exactly the right moment, since it doesn't work on MikTeX under windows.

There is a real root user. ------------- To sum it up: It is a bit unclear what purpose the cache is used for: - ls-R replacement, ie some sort of file database - preprocessed font data cache so that loading the stuff is done faster - formats??? what is saved for this But all of this is somehow static. On a normal system a normal user shouldn't have the necessity to change anything of the above. That should be done at install time of the respective stuff. Furthermore, the cache could be used (no idea whether this is true) for: - single job caching of data wouldn't it be better to keep generated files like this in the cwd, like .aux, etc files - caching of user files like the above, but initiated by the user Again, I don't see any other use than these ones, but please enlighten me what else it is used for. But in this case some mktexlsr-ish approach would make sense. So suggestion, like any TEXMF tree contains a ls-R file, we could have for any TEXMFTREE a lcache/ directory $tree/lcache/ which contains the cache for this tree. Since luatools and other things extract the texmf trees anyway from the TEXMFCNF variable, the cache could be read from there. What was the reason to do the hashing somewhere else but add the md5sums etc for these trees?
