Hi Hans and others, there is a problem with arranging pages with transparency color. See code: ------------------ \setuppapersize[A5,landscape][A4] \setuparranging[2TOPSIDE] \setupcolors[state=start] \definecolor[tcBlack][s=0, t=.5, a=normal] \starttext \switchtobodyfont[20pt] \dorecurse{1}{Page \color[tcBlack]{\recurselevel}\page}% \dorecurse{4}{Page \recurselevel\page}% \stoptext -------------------- Acroread (win 6.0.1) is complaining on the resulting PDF obtaining by texexec --arrange The message from AR is: There was an error reading a page. There was a problem processing a document(14). From a previous version of AR I obtained more informative message: Could not find extended graphic state name Tr1 Necessary conditions: 1) transparent color on at least one page 2) arranging pages on sheets 3) number of pages exceeds one sheet Observation: If do not use switch --arrange and compile the file two times the error does not occure. (But the result is not correct due to missing table of content etc.) It seems to me the problem is with managing transparen resources from sheet to sheet. Vit Zyka

textbackground

Hans, I definitely see problems with the \starttextbackground[]-\stoptextbackground environment (discussed in the "displays"-brochure). When the textbackground falls at a page crossing -- i.e. starts at the top of a page -- the coloring extends backwards on the page just left. It can be remedied by putting a \null just in front of \starttextbackground. The extra vertical space this introduces just manages to constrain the background to its own page. However, this is not a general solution, on other places the extra vertical space is certainly not wanted. I cannot find the exact nature of the problem. I suspect it has to do with the \output-routines, but these are not my speciality, to say the least. So, not much help there, Also, the \starttextbackground does not respect footnotes, these are colored. In contrast, the old \startbackground-\stopbackground does respect footnotes. The coloring stops at the footnote and restarts at the next page. I should like that for \starttextbackground as well. Hans van der Meer

MathTimes usage

I have the YandY MathTimes fonts and would like to use them in ConTeXt but do not know how to get them into action. In the source there are some references to MathTimes but nothing I try does something simple like for the lucida fonts: \setupbodyfont[lbr] Maybe I missed the magic invocation for \setupbodyfont[MathTimes-magic]? Hope someone can help. Hans van der Meer

compile problems

Hi gang, I'm having trouble compiling the eomega format with the latest ConTeXt (6-21): \texmf-var\web2c>eomega --ini *plain \dump works, but then \texmf-var\web2c>texexec --make --alone en -tex=eomega eomega: unrecognized option `-translate-file=natural.tcx' Try `eomega --help' for more information. fails. On the other hand eomega --ini *cont-en works, but then I get e.g., executable : EOMEGA format : cont-en inputfile : decision output : standard interface : en current mode : none TeX run : 1 EOMEGA: unrecognized option `-translate-file=natural.tcx' Try `EOMEGA --help' for more information. Hey Patrick, all, I like the wiki a lot. Thanks for getting it going! It's a nice, quick way to get hints out there. definemathsymbol and txfonts

Hi, I can't figure out how to get \definemathsymbol work with txfonts extended-A math fonts: \definemathsymbol [oiint] [op] [txexa] ["09] \starttext I want to get this: \getglyph{txexa}{\char"09} \startformula \oiint f(x,y) \,da \stopformula \stoptext Thanks for any help, David

math in ConTeXt

is ConTeXt prepared for math? I mean...can I do... $\sum_{i=1}^{n}{x_{i}}$ as I used to in LaTeX ? I don't make the \Sigma to be under and over characterised by i=1 and n. Jose

I have made texexec --make metafun to generate metafun format. And it said it generated it. But... I always get these messages kpathsea: Running mktexfmt metafun.mem fmtutil: no info for format `metafun'. when doing texexec --pdf to my tex-beauties... it seems that he goes for metapost after that... is there anything wrong here? thanks ! jose

re: might be an error in ConTeXt file prop-mis.tex I had some difficulty with typesetting backgrounds. It seems there is an error in file prop-mis.tex (version 2004-06-21): token "\popsplitnegativeproperty" is never defined but "\popsplitoverprintproperty" is twice. I think the second one should be \popsplitnegativeproperty, because then the sequence \startbackground some text \stopbackground does typeset after regenerating the formats. Hope this helps.
