Hello all! Thanks for all your suggestions. I am capturing screenshots and saving them as .eps images using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8. I then convert the eps images to PDF using "convertall2pdf"(on the command line) which is the batch file that Ghostscript uses. I am sending through the script of "Convertall2pdf". @echo off PATH=%PATH%;c:\gs\gs8.13\lib;c:\gs\gs8.13\bin; for /F %%i in ('dir /b *.eps') do ps2pdf %%i %%i.pdf When I then use context tags \placefigure {test} {\externalfigure[Image1-4][type=pdf,preset=yes]} \blank I still get blank gray boxes in the output. Why does this happen? How do I solve this problem? Does it have anything to do with the bounding box? How do I fix the bounding box? Thanks and regards, -priya

Hello all! I had not set the path for the Ghost script correctly. Now that I have set it, the conversion to pdf works like magic! Thanks a lot for the help, special thanks to Mr.Burnus and Mr.Hagen and Mr.Egger for their replies. I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 to convert jpg images to eps. But the images are not very good when converted to pdf. How can I improve the quality of the images? Suggestions please! Thanks and regards, -priya.

Hi all. I've revisited the euler support scripts with an eye towards bold math. I think I have it right now. I tried applying the same techniques to computer-modern math in order to get bold math going for the TeX default font, and it seems not to switch back to the right font after a grouped \bfm font switch. The minimum case for this is $x{\bfm x}x$, which gives an italic x, a bold x, and then a roman x. Hans (others with full Lucida math?), what does the test case look like? Hello all! Thank you all so much for your guidelines in the conversion of eps images to pdf! I will try and answer the queries of Mr.Tobias Burnus: -Please check, whether DataVisualization.pdf exists. Can you open it in acroread/gv? The DataVisualization.pdf does exist, but is blank. Even when I open it in acrobat reader or gv it is totally blank If it doesn't exist, does ghostscript show DataVisualization.eps flawlessly? -What is shown in the TeX-produced PDF file? An empty frame, ...? When I use \placefigure[here,force] {Project Hierarchy Window} {\externalfigure[DataVisualization][type=pdf,height=11cm,width=13cm,preset=yes]} there is a blank space with no frame at all,only the caption is there at the bottom. The original eps image is about 893KB and the PDF shows only 1KB size, so obviously the conversion is not happening, I guess.Any other pointers? Thanks and regards, -priya

Notes and questions on 432 page book.

My latest project is almost finished. I have a few comments and questions. The book consists of one part with five unnumbered chapters followed by a second part of 101 numbered chapters, and some endmatter. I was unable to make the Context version of the TOC to single space these 110 or so chapter entries which made the whole TOC longer (more pages) than desired. So I threw Eplain into the mix and typeset the TOC only using the Eplain macros. If there is a way to single space the TOC using the regular Context macros I will be happy to eliminate the Eplain, which may solve some of the other problems. The last six pages consist of an order form, a page of text, and another order form, all backed up by blank pages for six pages total. The order form is created with some \framedtext and \starttable trickery. It compiles fine by itself but gives errors in the \starttable etc. when combined with the main body of the book. It will also coexist with the front matter, so eplain is probably not the culprit. In any case at the moment I have two correct pdfs which I will try to knit together with psmerge or something similar. I used a conventional construction of the job, with a main file which calls subordinate files. In this mode I ended up with two unwanted blank pages after the index. If however I put the \stoptext statement at the end of the main subordinate file the unwanted blank pages disappear. Hi all! Thanks a lot for the prompt reply, specially to Mr.Hans Hagen and Mr.Tobias Burnus. I don't know anything about Ruby, so I tried using texutil - -epstopdf, but when the ghostscript window comes up it is blank and nothing happens after that. What do I need to do?
