Hi, is it possible to change the font size of TeX labels in Metapost figures (using the textext command) to be the same as the bodyfont size in the surrounding document? Best regards, Sebastian Sturm

bug in alignbox

Hallo Hans, I have played with positioning text in layers. I noticed that parameter "location=t" \setlayer[MyLayer][...,location=t,...]{...} behaves the same way as "location=c". It seems to me it is the bug in optimized definition of \alignedbox. If I use commented version of \alignedbox from source file core-box.tex it is OK. Can you look at it, please? Hello, I'm quite lucky, that I've finally got a bold typewriter font. French, ? : ; !, and spacing, \setuppapersize problem

Hello, (Passing on a question.) Is there a simple methode to automatically add a thinspace before "?", "!", ":" and ";" as it is done commonly in French? This would make typing easier and would allow to change a thinspace into a normal space etc. In addition, I have the following problem. I downloaded the latest (?) ConTeXt - 2004.4.9 -, installed it in my $HOMETEXMF tree, added two symlinks to make it work with an old TDS tree texmf.cnf configuration, run texhash and fmtutil. TeX works rather nicely, except \setuppagersize. Using \setuppapersize[a5][a4] or a5 a5 I get always one A4 page on a A4 sheet of paper. Using [a5][a4,landscape] I get a A4 paper on a sheet of paper which is as wide and high as the height of an A4 paper. Can anyone reproduce this? Or is this due to my configuration (e.g. a file present in the system TEXMF tree which is not in $HOMETEXMF and gets included)? Regards, Tobias

Strange MP problem

Hello, I have a really strange problem. After changing a label in ghostscript (mpost terminal), I fail to mpost the output since the TeX file looks like \switchtobodyfont[7.5pt] % [...] \shipout\hbox{\smash{\hbox{\hbox{% line 402 gnuplot0001.mp xtls ($1+2885.878040):($3/1.6637149187); $\Gamma_{\rm L}=1.5$, $\Gamma_{\rm G}=0 .2$}\vrule width1sp}}} \end{document} Of cause it fails at the "\end{document}", but why is it there at all? In the metapost file are only the normal put_text(btex ... etx) statements (plus my verbertim "\switchtobodyfont[7.5pt]"). Any ideas? Tobias PS: Thanks Patrick for a5 vs. A5 help.

page selection with context magnifies

(I believe this is the same bug I reported on December 6, with additional information.) I'm using context (from TL 2003) to select pages. It's apparently actually changing the content, that is, enlarging it! Consider page 2 of the attached covers.pdf. I try to extract it with: texexec --mode=letter --pdfselect --selection=2 --result=bad2.pdf covers.pdf The result is the attached bad2.pdf. If you view at, say, 100% ("fit to page" will eradicate the difference) and compare to the original page 2, the fonts appear larger and everything is moved to the right a bit, as if the page was magnified by some small proportion. The same thing happens with page 4 and with other files I have tried. I tried removing the --mode=letter, it made no difference. Any help appreciated. Although gs can extract pages correctly, it loses the searchable text, while context preserves it, so I'd rather use the latter. :). Thanks, k

Dear List users, I just heard about ConTeXt on the lingtex list. I am a rather old and experienced Latex user, and, although rather unsatisfied, I have tons of latex sources for constant reuse. My first questions are Is there any hope that I can painlessly reuse my Latex code in Context? Is there any hope that I can ever use Latex styles (some more complicated macro defs) in Context? Hello all! Thanks for all your suggestions. I am capturing screenshots and saving them as .eps images using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8. I then convert the eps images to PDF using "convertall2pdf"(on the command line) which is the batch file that Ghostscript uses. When I then use context tags \placefigure {test} {\externalfigure[Image1-4][type=pdf,preset=yes]} \blank I still get blank gray boxes in the output. Why does this happen? How do I solve this problem? Does it have anything to do with the bounding box? How do I fix the bounding box? Thanks and regards, -priya
