Hi all, I have definitely not been flooded by answers. I am getting the impression that this forum might not have been the best one to ask (i.e. I have a practical problem which has little bearing with implementation aspects / bugs / new features of Context). I have gone through comp.text.tex, but it seems to be heavily oriented towards latex. Would you have any other direction I could go to and get some assistance? In fact, what I would ideally like to do is the following: 1- Define a template with the boxes without any arrows. 2- Write numbered lists describing arrows that would be generated on top of the template. What I tried is the definition you see at the top for the boxes. I have been using MS Word so far to do that sort of thing. It has been quite tedious to reflect any change in the box structure: 10 charts means 10 charts to re-edit. As a bonus question that should be easier. Is it possible to draw other sorts of arrows: i would like to draw straght line arrows that could follow a diagonal (say go north-east instead of east first then north), or circular arrows like: % % ----- % ! ! % ! !<-- % ----- \ % \ % | % ----- / % ! ! / % ! I came, I upgraded, I goofed.

I was concerned that I may have over time messed with my system too much. So I reloaded the the 2002 version of the TeXLive CDROM. Things worked more or less. Then I was concerned that I should upgrade to the latest Context. So I downloaded cont-en.zip from the site and unzipped it in my /usr/TeX directory. This is a Linux system. Now if I sign on as an ordinary user when I run texexec I get a "file access denied" message. NO clue as to which file is denying access. hi i have miktex 2.2 installed and wanted to run mptopdf, but when I use the newest version of "mptopdf.pl" it dosent work. the following error apperas: eftm=mptopdf: unknown option if i replace the file by another version everything works fine. what could be wrong here? greets severin

colo-ema defines X Window colors

Hello Hans, I noticed that the color def file colo-xwi is part of colo-ema. After a look in the source of colo-ema it is now clear, that colo-ema defines the X window colors. I wrote this color defs a few years ago for latex and converted them to context without looking in the origin file again. Sorry for that... So I suggest to rename colo-ema in colo-xwi (but it's your decision). I append a slightly changed version. Regards, Peter

horizontal scaling a glyph?

Hi. Again, I feel like I've failed, because I haven't found it in an hour's worth of looking through the source: Is there a nice ConTeXt-y way to define a glyph that's stretched a consistent amount? I'm not thinking of the letter-spacing \stretched macros, but rather a distorted character like the 'a' on page 427 of metafun-s (240 in metafun-p). Multi-line equation and placement of the number

Hello Context user, I'm trying to display a multi-line equation with a single number aligned with the last line. According to "The TeXbook" I should use \eqalignno{} for that. Unfortunately, this gobbles up the number. The other method of aligning th parts of my long equation (\eqalign) puts the number in the vertical center. How am I supposed to do this? Strange error while generating format

Hello, all-- I am trying to set up a new version of ConTeXt (the latest stable version, I guess? I downloaded it from Pragma ADE yesterday). But when I run 'texexec --make en' I get the following error: (/usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/page-imp.tex loading : Context Core Macros / Pagebody Building system (E-TEX) : [line 736] \dimexpr ! Undefined control sequence. l.743 \setuppaper ? I say this is strange because I'm sure \setuppaper is defined--and if it weren't, surely it would have been noticed and corrected by now. I think all ConTeXt files are in their proper places ... at least, they are in the same places they were in a previous working installation. Some pertinent facts: TeX distribution: teTeX 1.0.2 Major addons: pTeX 2.0 (but as far as I know this doesn't replace core files) Platform: Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 Maybe the files are getting loaded in the wrong order? But I can't think of any reason why that might happen. Or have I missed some important step? Macros for Croatian dj & DJ

Hello Hans! Here I'm again :-) In order to completely solve the issues with typesetting Croatian texts with ConTeXt I've found a file with TeX macros which produce correct \DJ - you can see the attached file dj.tex I have also included snapshot (DJ.jpg) which shows dstroke & Dstroke produced with these new macros (default cmr font). I commented present definition for DJ in enco-mis.tex and replaced it with the following: \def\pseudoencodedDJ % like in babel, but safer {\leavevmode \rlap{\kern 0.05em\raise 0.76ex\hbox {\vrule height 0.10ex width 0.28em}}D} However, I hope that there is some room for improvement, but being not proficient in programming TeX, I am humbly asking you to use your TeX expertise to resolve this issue once and for all. Personally, I'm so exciting to be able to typeset Croatian with utf-8 encoding in ConTeXt (I'm also using dbcontext package to transform DocBook XML --> ConTeXt, but we need some ConTeXt help to achieve better transformation.) incrementnumber of part vs. not showing up in table of contents

Hi, When i \setuphead[part][incrementnumber=no] so that all the chapter numbering will be continuous, the part doesn't show up in my Table of Contents. when i change it to 'yes' or remove incrementnumber, the part shows up in the ToC, but the chapters are now reset to 1 at each part break.
