Emulating AMS stuff in ConTeXt

Hello, while trying to build an AMS emulation layer on top of ConTeXt math macros, I defined (among the other) the following macros: \def\startalign{% \startformula \let\\\cr \grabuntil{stopalign}\doeqalign } \def\doeqalign#1{\eqalign{#1\cr}\stopformula} \let\stopalign\relax These allow me to write: \startalign a & = b = \\ & = c \stopalign and everything is fine. Yet I cannot do \placeformula[hook] \startalign a & = b = \\ & = c \stopalign because of expansion problems. Why? How can I define the stuff? -- Giuseppe "Oblomov" Bilotta

FontSite 500 CD support

The new beta works fine. \unknownchar must be enclosed in braces, to prevent error messages when the unknown char is the only char in a superior or inferior. Many math symbols (unicode range 0x2200) are still missing. Would they be added like this: \definecharacter textSum {\mathematics{\Sum}} ? I will experiment somewhat with this later. Using Fraktur (and Gothic and Calligraphic) fonts in ConTeXt

Hello, I just wanted to report the conclusions I reached after the hoop-jumping I had to go through to be able to use Fraktur in ConTeXt, especially in math environments: it seems that the \frak, \goth, \cal font switches are ignored in math mode (which is somewhat ridiculous, considering that this is where they are used more often). A workaround (stolen from the old math module) is to define \def\fraktur #1{\ifmmode\@EA\text\fi{{\frak#1}}} \def\gothic #1{\ifmmode\@EA\text\fi{{\goth#1}}} \def\caligraphic#1{\ifmmode\@EA\text\fi{{\cal #1}}} and use \fraktur{a} instead of {\frak a}. This has the disadvantage that you cannot set Fraktur as the (math) font for a complex math construct. Can this be fixed, please? -- Giuseppe "Oblomov" Bilotta

BUG in spec-fdf

Hello, I just found (rather by chance) a bug in the fdf output definitions: at the end of the file there are the lines \definespecial\dostartgraphicgroup{\pdfliteral{q}} \definespecial\dostopgraphicgroup {\pdfliteral{Q}} Since fdf specials are also used in non-PDF production mode (e.g. by dvipdfm specials) there lines should be changed into \definespecial\dostartgraphicgroup{\PDFcode{q}} \definespecial\dostopgraphicgroup {\PDFcode{Q}} -- Giuseppe "Oblomov" Bilotta

DocBookInContext & multi-languages (newbie)

Hello list! I'm a new in ConTeXt. After few boks done in LyX (LaTeX) I decided to enhance my "publishing". Since I need to write in DocBook, I was thrilled to find DocBookInContext package which enables to map from DocBook to ConTeXt. I prepared a small article in DocBook and converted it to PDF by: texexec --pdf file (I'm running SuSE 8.0 & teTeX). The problem is that I wanted to include some Croatian national characters in the DocBook file, but they are not shown in generated file. What should I do to be able to have both English & Croatian language in ConTeXt? (In LyX, I would simply use latin-2 encoding and write English & Croatian.) Usually documents in DocBook have Unicode encoding (UTF-8). What encoding has to be defined so that conversion DocBook -> ConTeXt will work properly?
