Hi, When using "\startmixedcolumns[balance=yes,grid=strut]", how would you put a 0.5em vertical space between a subtitle and a list of items? The following code gives a simple example: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=pT5tcXfc Uncommenting the following line hides the list items under "Subtitle A": %after={\vskip-0.5em}, See: http://i.imgur.com/wFIkRZY.png Removing a list item from the end of the list for "Subtitle C" makes the items appear again. For example, change the last "\dorecurse" macro to: \dorecurse{7}{ \item {a list item} } How can I tweak the amount of space between a title before a list while using a two-column layout without causing the content to disappear? Ah! I was going to suggest that, but thought you wanted a solution that didn't involve manual adjustments... I also thought I tried adding "\indentation" to the "PlaceFigure" macro, but it didn't work (probably because of it being embedded inside another set of braces).

\setuplist[alternative=inmargin, sectionsegments=section]?

Dear list, I have the following sample: \setupheads\setuphead[chapter][sectionsegments=chapter, align=center] \setuphead[section][alternative=inmargin] \setuplist[section][alternative=d, style=\itx] \starttext \placecontent \startfrontmatter \dorecurse{2}{\chapter{Chapter} \dorecurse{10}{\section{Section}\input zapf}} \startfrontmatter \startbodymatter \dorecurse{2}{\part{Part} \dorecurse{2}{\chapter{Chapter} \dorecurse{10}{\section{Section}\input knuth}}} \stopbodymatter \stoptext My question is: how can I achieve \setuplist[chapter][alternative=inmargin] and \setuplist[section][sectionsegments=section]? \asciimode not working when in \footnote

Dear list, I have the following sample: \starttext {\asciimode It works in body%.}\footnote{But not in footnotes {\asciimode %}.} \stoptext I’m afraid \asciimode cannot be included within a footnote. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Many thanks for your help, Pablo -- http://www.ousia.tk

I installed Ubuntu on the chromebook using crouton (http://lifehacker.com/how-to-install-linux-on-a-chromebook-and-unlock-its-f…) and then apt-get context which gave a texlive version for armhf; also got vim and evince. From terminal under Ubuntu, which runs on top of ChromeOS, context foo.tex compiled a Hello World and a \startMPpage figure. That much worked. This made me think the link for armhf-linux above might work without Ubuntu, but I am not skilled enough to use the trunk/Master--I got a text sym-link and a 7.3mb luatex file that I can not yet make executable (command not found.) The texlive/acquire-netinstall results in 'Permission denied' even with sudo on the chromebook. I have not yet tried Martin's approach with the .deb files but wanted to report back and thank you both for your suggestions. John

Dear All, I'd like to apply 'verystrict' tolerance as a default value, which would be overridden by less strict values in several specific paragraphs with tricky word combinations causing problems when hyphenating. But when \setuptolerance command is used multiple times, the last one seems to be active only from that place on. When settings is wrapped by \start \stop commands, it seems to be ignored: \start \setuptolerance[tolerant] %text \stop Is there any way how to achieve this or do I have to use the lowest required value for the whole document? Hi Jan, A work-around: \setupexternalfigures[location=default] \setupindenting[yes,medium] \define[1]\PlaceFigure{ \startplacefigure[number=no, location={page}, title={}] \externalfigure[#1] \stopplacefigure \\ \vskip-1em } \starttext \input{ward} \PlaceFigure{cow} \input{ward} \stoptext The wiki states: \setupindenting does not take care of indenting after environments, such as ConTeXt's itemizes, enumerations, definitions, formulas and floats. The work-around forces the new line using \\, then immediately skips back a line.

mp: choose colors randomly from list

Hi all, I would like to have mp choose a (transparent) color randomly from a predefined list. My naive approach was (let’s restrict it to three colors): \startuniqueMPgraphic{colortest} save mycolor ; color mycolor[] ; mycolor[1] := (0.07, 0.21, 0.65) ; mycolor[2] := (0.6, 0.6, 0.4) ; mycolor[3] := (0.5, 0.8, 0.5) ; path p ; p := unitsquare scaled 2cm ; for i=1 upto 3: fill p shifted (i*2.5cm, 0) withcolor transparent (1,0.3,mycolor[round(uniformdeviate(i))]) ; endfor ; \stopuniqueMPgraphic \starttext \uniqueMPgraphic{colortest} \stoptext Is there a better approach? The selection isn’t random enough for my taste :-) Sometimes, in my real document, I get black color, even though black isn’t in the list, so I suspect that mp doesn’t get a correct value for mycolor[round(uniformdeviate(i))]. And finally: how could I define the colors in a way that I could also use them outside of mp? Or do I have to copy-paste the definitions into \definecolor’s? All best Thomas
