8th ConTeXt Meeting, Bassenge-Boirs, Belgium

Hi all, The main news compared to my previous message is that there is now a preliminary program online: http://meeting.contextgarden.net/2014/pr2014.pdf If you have not checked it out yet, have a look, see if there is anything that draws your fancy, and perhaps reconsider registering for the meeting. In any case, I wanted to remind you that registration for the 8th International Context Meeting is still open. http://meeting.contextgarden.net/2014 We are making a return visit to Jan @ 't Sjetootje, the same place where we had our fifth meeting in 2011. Those of you that were present in 2011 will remember that our host Jan was constantly busy cooking wonderful food for us. To celebrate our return visit, the theme for this year's meeting is: ConTeXt Cookery which means that we are planning for talks and tutorials on both culinary and programming recipes and / or cookbooks. Jan has promised to take care of a hands-on culinary workshop :) Further, we can promise a working internet connection, and also that there will not be any completely underground full day excursions. As it happens, Bassenge-Boirs is also the birth place of the official ConTeXt Group, so in a way we are going back to our "roots". Even if you cannot join us for the meeting, please consider becoming a member (if you are not already). Distances between chapter and setion titles and text

Dear list, Is it possible, in mkiv, to fine-tune the distance between a chapter head and a section head, between the end of a section and the following section head, and between a section head and the beginning of the text? My problem is the following: In the revision of a thesis, to economize on processing times, I have done all corrections in the bodymatter, or even parts of it, using the setups of the entire project. But when I now add the front matter these above-mentioned distances have slightly increased, by 3 to 5 mm, with a rather devastating effect on the precise placement of large floats. At the beginning of a new chapter the difference is one textline (double line spacing), which does not seem a big deal but with nearly 500 pages of text it leads to nasty results. In my setups I have for the heads \setuphead[chapter][ header=empty, page={yes,header,right}, number=yes, alternative=middle, style=\tfa \bf, after={\blank[0.5cm]}, ] en \setuphead[section][ style=tfa, number=yes, alternative=left, indentnext=no ] Changing "after={\blank[0.5cm]}" to "after={\blank[0.1cm]}" or omitting it altogether did not have any effect. If the culprit is to be found in the Frontmatter, or its specific setups, what should I look for? Thanks in advance for any help. Best regards, Robert Blackstone

Suppressing the page number

I have a standard structure using \startfrontmatter\stopfrontmatter Part of the front matter is the table of contents, but (as with every chapter in my book) the RHS is where the chapter starts, but on the opposing page LHS there is something too (mostly a quote or so). This is done with \startsetups chapter:before \page[left] \noheaderandfooterlines \startalignment[left,nothyphenated] \startnarrower[4*left] \em \getbuffer[chapter:quote] \stopnarrower \stopalignment \resetsetups[quote:text] \page[right] \noheaderandfooterlines \blank[force,2*big] \stopsetups My main product file has \startfrontmatter \startbuffer [chapter:quote] A Quote\crlf {\tf An author} \stopbuffer \completecontent \component c_introduction \stopfrontmatter \startbodymatter Now, before the content chapter and after that initial title page, I get two empty pages, which is right. However, the second empty page (RHS) has a page number. How do I suppress that page number? I’m using MKII G

definerule missing in mkiv

Hello! \definerule seems to be only supported in ConTeXt mkii but not in ConTeXt mkiv. Is there a reason for this? Would anyone mind porting it to mkiv since this seems to be the standard now? Thanks for any help. Christoph

Citation Sort Order

The documentation (http://www.ntg.nl/maps/26/12.pdf) suggests that the order of citations can be changed using "sorttype=cite". The example code below writes a 6 in the document. I thought by setting the sorttype to "cite" that the bibliography order would be determined based on the order that the "cite" macros occur in the document. If I have understood correctly, then the sample document should write a 1 in the document. Any idea why 6 is written instead of 1? Hans will be offline for a few weeks

Hi all, Just to let you know Hans will not be responding to any email messages for the next two weeks as unexpectedly, over the weekend he had immediate laser surgery to re-attach one of his retinas. Everything will be fine, so do not panic! But, on doctors’ orders, he is not allowed to read for the next two weeks, to give the eye the best chance to heal properly. So: no email, no programming, and no leisure reading. Needless to say Hans is not very thrilled at the prospect but on the plus side, at the end of month the Pragma offices will be cleaner and more organised than ever ! Best wishes, Taco

Bug with vimtyping: no line numbers

I think there is a bug in the (latest) beta that was not there earlier this year. In particular, it worked (and still works) in the version current version: 2014.03.19 23:11 but it show *no* line numbers at all in the (latest) beta: current version: 2014.07.30 10:31 A minimal example follows: \usemodule[vim] \setupvimtyping[% numbering=yes,% numberdistance=2em] \definevimtyping[cpp][syntax=cpp] \starttext \startcpp #include <iostream> int main() { std::cout << "Hello, world!" << std::endl; } \stopcpp \stoptext Sadly, I'm not a ConTeXt nor a lua expert so maybe anybody can help? Dear list, pandoc writes autolinks (links with the same text as target, such as <http://www.example.com>), thanks to the a kind suggestion of Wolfgang, as: \useURL[url27][http://example.com/]\from[url27] But with autolinks for email addresses (such as <nobody(a)nowhere.net>), conversion is suboptimal: \useURL[url29][mailto:nobody@nowhere.net][][nobody@nowhere.net] \from[url29] Is there a way to get the hyphenated url, the mailto: interaction and the formatting with \setupurl?
