Conditional keep-with-next rules

Dear All, in my index I can see disturbing page breaks. primary-01 primary-02 secondary-01 ------- ( next page ) ----- secondary-02 primary-03 instead of primary-01 ------- ( next page ) ----- primary-02 secondary-01 secondary-02 primary-03 Is it possible to somehow define conditional keep-with-next rules? I'd like to express: (1) keep always the primary with the first secondary (this seems to be implemented) (2) keep always the first secondary with the next secondary (3) keep always the last secondary with the previous secondary And similarly for tertiary. As the Index is generated, I can't see an easy way to accomplish something like this. I hope I am wrong :-) Thanks, Jan

latest beta, problem with natural tables and alignment character

Hi, I was testing the latest beta (2014.06.15) and noticed I am getting incorrect output using natural tables with alignment characters. I produced a small example that demonstrates the problem, and attached output created with the version I'm testing (bad.pdf) and my prior version (good.pdf, ConTeXt 2013.06.10). You can see in the bad file that ConTeXt doesn't properly align on the "-" and it introduces spurious spaces. Best regards, Brian

Preparing a weird index.

I have a customer that uses a publisher that has truly weird requirements. The weirdness is that the locaters are not page numbers but paragraph numbers. And some paragraph numbers start with the prefix 'BO' and others with the chapter number. so a correct sequence would be BO.15 3.2 A finished sequence would be goddess @@ BO.15 3.2 3.5 The sort order has to be letter by letter, as defined in the Chicago Manual of Style. Can Context sort and summarize these locaters? I can even change the BO sequence to 0 (zero) and then change it back later on. The key is can Context sort by paragraph number rather than page number for an index. I have looked into Xindy for this job but the learning curve is pretty steep and the documentation pretty opaque. makeindex won't handle decimals for locators. Configure AUCTeX to run context not texec

Dear all, I have a working version of context mash-laptop:~$ context --version mtx-context | ConTeXt Process Management 0.60 mtx-context | mtx-context | main context file: /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/context.mkiv mtx-context | current version: 2013.11.07 15:28 However, I edit files in emacs/AUCTeX and the compile command "C-c C-c" calls "texexec" instead of "context" and so can't compile in emacs. Does anyone know how to change the command from "texexec" to "context" in emacs/AUCTeX? Thanks. Hi, In case you didn't consider it yet ... in a couple of months we have the context meeting and this is a perfect opportunity to meet those involved in development and support. You can participate in discussions about upcoming developments, express wishes, get sneak previews, get your problems solved (meetings are quite efficient for that). Personally I like those meetings because it gives a face to users and also gives an idea in what direction to move. Also, tex related meetings are kind of special (beware, one can get hooked to them). Character alignment in math mode

First letter lost possible cause: \grabbfferdata

Recently there have been reports of the first letter of a line of text being lost in the database and letter modules. I tracked down what appears to be the same problem and developed a work-around. The problem appears to be with the \grabbufferdata command. Something has changed in the way it works, and it now swallows the first token of the buffer that it grabs. It may also show up with other commands, but this is the only one I have found in my projects. If you have code with this command, a workaround is to insert \ignorespaces after it. I have no idea why this helps. If you do not have the code (if it is in somebody else's module), then using a blank line or dummy argument or \relax after the command that calls the code with \grabbufferdata may help.
