Hyphenation of chemical names

ConTeXt has troubles hyphenating chemical names, which in organic chemistry can be funny things such as N-(4-n-alkoxybenzylidene)-4’-alkylaniline. The names can get much worse... The rules for hyphenating in chemistry are well defined. Without putting specific hyphenating hints into the names themselves, I do not know how to go about adding these rules into ConTeXt. Of course, they can differ slightly by language, but the system is pretty much the same. Does anyone know how to deal with this? Maybe we need special rules that get applied within \chemical{}? Alan

Supported architectures for minimals (any ppc users out there?)

Hi, I would suggest dropping support for linux-ppc for the ConTeXt distribution unless somebody objects. I'm surprised about the number of ppc users on Mac (and would be curious to get more off-list feedback from those still using it). TeX Live planned to drop support this year, but it seems that it's staying for now. We are currently cross-compiling the binaries, but at the moment both luajittex and metapost compilations seem to be broken. We also don't seem to have any kfreebsd or sparc-solaris users, but as long as their builders enjoy supplying the binaries, that's fine by me ;) On the other hand I need to sit down one day and fix support for cygwin. I'm sorry that this didn't happen yet. Mojca

box'es do not spread out

I am struggling with the following problem: Collect a number of boxes with: \global\setbox\placexcontent=\hbox{% \box\placexcontent % collection of previous boxes \box\placexbox % next box affixed to previous onse \hskip\placexdistanceskip % spearation, replacing by \hfill does not solve problem }% Thus the incoming \placexbox'es are strung together separated by a skip. Later they are typeset centered as a whole with: \hbox to\textwidth{% % will be wider than the sum of the original box collection \hss \box\placexcontent % or \unhbox, doesn't look different \unskip % unskip removes the last (extra) \hskip \hss % should succumb to \hskip 0pt plus1fill }% The problem is the following: (1) \placexdistanceskip=10pt boxes are separated neatly (2) \placexdistanceskip=0pt plus1fill BOXES DO NOT SPREAD OUT AS I EXPECTED THEM TO DO The flexible component does sadly not carry over to the final box, apparently. Clearly my misunderstanding of working with boxes. Can this be solved easily? Hans van der Meer

Typesetting Arabic (Scheherazade)

currently have: \definefontfeature [arabic] [mode=node,language=dflt,script=arab, init=yes,medi=yes,fina=yes,isol=yes, liga=yes,dlig=yes,rlig=yes,tlig=yes, calt=yes,trep=yes,mark=yes,mkmk=yes, kern=yes,curs=yes] \definefallbackfamily[mainface][serif][Scheherazade][range=0600-077F][features=arabic] and get output in which the letters are not joined up into words but printed separately, as in ثم يتعرف وزن ما يحتاج اليه مع وزن الكفة لموازاة الافق بالعمود Is there a setting that I have missed? (bug?) wrong hyphenation with external fonts

Dear list, just accidentally I discovered the following issue: \definefontfamily[mainface][rm][MinionPro] \definefontfamily[anotherface][rm][TeX Gyre Pagella] % wrong hyphenation too with TeX Gyre Pagella Math \setupbodyfont[mainface] \starttext \startTEXpage[offset=1em] \hyphenatedword{LibreOffice libre office} \es\hyphenatedword{LibreOffice libre office} \stopTEXpage \startTEXpage[offset=1em] \setupbodyfont[anotherface]% \hyphenatedword{LibreOffice libre office} \es\hyphenatedword{LibreOffice libre office} \stopTEXpage \stoptext Hyphenation is wrong with fonts that don’t come with the ConTeXt distribution. TeX Gyre Pagella is hyphenated right, but MinionPro or even TeX Gyre Pagella Math are wrong hyphenated. I’m afraid it may be a bug. Could anyone confirm it? not able to change paper sizes

Dear list, in this sample adapted from the documented code: \definepapersize[main] [A4] [A4] \definepapersize[extra][A4,landscape][A4,landscape] \starttext \setuppapersize[main] Page 1. \page Page 2. \page \setuppapersize[extra] Page 2 \page \setuppapersize[main] Page 3. \page Page 4. \page \adaptpapersize[extra] Page 5. \page Page 6. \page \startTEXpage[height=210mm, width=297mm] Page 6. \stopTEXpage \stoptext It isn’t possible to change the paper size. interactive reference

In the ConTeXt reference manual in section 12.5 Cross references I find the following explanation: [cid:DD84C63C-7615-45C8-8BC0-DA1B83459B42@dynamic.ziggo.nl] I would like to set (interactive) references as the black triangles pointing forward and backward, as displayed here. Although I tried along the lines in the first example, as mentioned at the end of the text, I could not manage to get these triangles. How to? Hans van der Meer

\externalfigure produces blank page

Hello, let's have a simple code: ---- \starttext \startTEXpage \externalfigure[Tv32.pdf]%[scale=500] \stopTEXpage \stoptext ---- It yields a blank (or empty) page (its size A1 is OK); and the size of the resulting .pdf is very close to that of the inserted image. The inserted Tv32.pdf is displayed correctly in Adobe reader, so why it is not processed by Ctx? anglestriped shifts path
