Get list of all buffer names from lua

Dear list, As the subject line states, I am looking for a means of retrieving a table of all saved buffer names from lua. A MNWE would looks like: \starttext \startbuffer[ex1] Buffer 1 \stopbuffer \startbuffer[ex2] Buffer 2 \stopbuffer % Should return {ex1, ex2} or similar \ctxlua{context(...)} \stoptext The underlying idea is to store a large number of example problems in individual buffers that could be retrieved either by specific name or as a complete list. I'm having a problem with the latter as it seems like all the lua buffer commands I've encountered assume that buffer names are known in advance: buffers.getcontent(b) buffers.raw(b) buffers.getlines(b) buffers.erase(b) buffers.assign(b, text, catcodes) buffers.append(b, text) buffers.exists(b) buffers.collectcontent(names, seperator) Thanks, Stan

Process file with '#' in the file name

Hello, is there a way to process a file with '#' in the file name by ConTeXt? E.g. file "T#.mkiv" with \starttext A \stoptext fails - not so surprisingly; but anyway - is there a way or "trick" to process it? Bets regards, Lukas

Update problems

Dear List, After a while I decided updating my ConTeXt installation to ConTeXt ver: 2019.01.07 10:07 MKIV beta fmt: 2019.1.7. With an old document of mine I ran into two issues so far: Some of my old pdf images are not accepted as figures anymore. Example: \starttext \externalfigure[cardioid.pdf][width=1.5in]{Cardioid} \stoptext Using the following pdf which is version 1.4

papersize problem with latest beta

Fwd: issue: "printable" viewer layers lack compatibility

In 2017 ghostscript added support for the /Print and /View keys of the Optional Content /Usage dictionary[1]. The use of '-dPrinted' should display the print-only layer, per the documentation[2]: gs -o output.pdf -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dPrinted input.pdf >From their repository you can see that poppler (i.e. evince) also checks the /Print and /View keys[3]. I'm reporting this here since neither render ConTeXt's "printable" viewer layers - not while viewing, and not after printing. lua lpeg + utf8

Hi everybody, best wishes for (the still new) 2019! My question is not strictly a ConTeXt problem, but about the way luatex (and pure Lua) can handle utf8 in lpeg. Here is my Lua example: mystring = "abcdeφὴὰabcde" local replace_table = { a = "y", c = "z", ὴ = "ή", ὰ = "ά", } function replace(s) local patt = (lpeg.Cs(1)) / replace_table local parser = lpeg.Cs((patt + 1)^0) t = parser:match(s) return t end newstring = replace(mystring) print(newstring) This will successfully replace "a" and "c," but not "ὴ" or "ὰ" because lpeg.Cs(1) sees only the first byte of these multibyte characters. Pure Lua complains with an error message; luatex runs, but does not do the replacement. What would be a good way to work around this limitation? All best Thomas

placing an MPGraphic/Lines over multiple table cells

I am trying to place some lines in "Z" shape over several cells of a table. This single "Z" has the intention of blocking manual alterations to the table in empty cells. The cells to blocked are always a coherent rectangle. I hope that makes sense. In the example below, the table with 4 rows, 3 columns has content in column one only, the other 2 columns should have the "Z". Placing the blocking "Z" into every cell is not an option due to formal requirements. What I attempted below a) seems very cumbersome b) doesn't work (the small "Z" doesn't fill the frame). While I can easily place a "Z" into a single cell (in the example), I can't figure out how to cover multiple cells. Furthermore, I would need to do a lot of calculations to figure out the multiple layer placements, column positions, etc. With multiple tables on a page, several pages, that seems error prone. Any suggestions, corrections, hints are most welcome! Hi there, somehow floats that I place with keywords location=left or location=rightcreate a blank page first. Am I missing anything? I am sure that this wasn't the case before 19.12.2018. Right now I have the recent 03.01.2019 version.
