Problem with \reference and \at. Sorry, forgot \starttext, and \stoptext

Dear List, I am sorry, I forgot \starttext and \stoptext in the example. The problem is, that after Seite 33, there is also the Number 1, I do not want to use. \usecolors[svg] \setupinteraction [state=start, contrastcolor=cornflowerblue] \starttext \reference[other]{Seite 33} \it Hinweis: Beachten Sie die Konvention aus \at{Seite 33}[other] die Formulierung. \stoptext What is wrong here? Problem with JPEG2000 inclusion in 2025.02.28 update

I use JPEG2000 images and, unit the most recent update, these worked fine for me (i.e., anywhere a "normal" JPEG could be included, a JPEG2000 could be included). This seems to have come to a crashing halt with the 2025.02.28 update. Now I just get the gray box. Here is an example of it not working (I have attached a .JP2 image of ConTeXt's favourite cow): %%%% begin here \setupexternalfigures[location={local,default}] \starttext \line{% \externalfigure[cow.pdf][height=1in]% \hss \externalfigure[cow-jp2.jp2][height=1in]} \stoptext %%%% end here I get the same problem with .JPX (JPEG2000 Part 2) images (which are the ones I really want to use). This is a show-stopper for the document I produce. Can anyone suggest either (a) a workaround so that I can include JPEG2000 images (aside from converting them to JPEGs and including those), or (b) tell me how I can revert to the previous version of ConTeXt? (Unfortunately, my web search for installing an older version is polluted by mostly non-ConTeXt uses of the word "context".) Thanks. Jim

help with \flushsubcolumnsets[spread]

Dear list, first of all, sorry for not providing a MWE, but it is really hard in this case. To enjoy the new added abilities for parallel texts in ConTeXt, I’m making a six-language version of an ancient Greek text. Columns setup (using landscape A4), so there are two pages: \definecolumnset [parallel] [n=3, align={lesswidows,lessclubs,lessbroken,lessorphans}, ] All works fine, but I have a single passage that has problems. It’s a chapter with title and two lines of text (in original Greek) and title and three/four lines of translation. Chapter setup reads (for the relevant parts): \setuphead[chapter] [before={\blank[none, preference]\testcolumn[5]}, after={\blank[none, samepage]}] Well, the problem is that only the Greek text appears at the end of the first page (no translation is shown at the end of the first or second page), and all translations appear at the beginning of the third and fourth page (no Greek text at the beginning of the third page). How can I make that ConTeXt prioritizes leaving one (or two) orphan line(s), but flushes that Greek text and the five translations? Many thanks for your help, Pablo

How to span an image across two pages with a caption?

I am trying to do this, basically my document has some floats, with captions, that appear within the text, but occasionally, I want some special images to be rendered across the full page (left and right). The text of the chapter should appear on the pages before this and after it, but not on the page with these images. And the page number/headings shouldn't appear. Ideally the caption just is displayed bottom left, on the left-side / verso page. Is there a simple way to achieve that? Can context automatically italicize foreign words?

Its common convention to italicize words that are of a different language. I've tried marking these words, but then when they also appear in the glossary and index, they are not appearing in the correct placement--somehow the italicized words appear under the "s" category, no matter what letter they start with. Is there any way in ConTeXt to just give it a list of words, and it will italicize them wherever they are found in the text, no matter they are in the body, some index, etc.? --Joel

Negative font slant broken with compact fonts

Hi, Using the latest ConTeXt (2025.02.19), negative slants are broken with compact fonts. Example document: \definefontfeature[default][default][Slant=-1] \startTEXpage Hello, world! \stopTEXpage When compiled with "context", I get the error message tex error > tex error on line 1 in file ./context-negative-slant.tex: Scale factor (-1000) should be in the range 0..100000 [...] I'm going to use 0 instead of that illegal code value. but when compiled with "context --nocompactfonts", I get the correct result. Disappearing mathqed

Dear All, The \mathqed symbol disappears when there is a blank line before \stopProof. It also disappears when there is a float directly before \stopProof. (Maybe this is intentional to encourage ending proofs with words?) how to only switch fontclass ?

I've been writing bilingual documentation lately. When I switched the font class, I found that it was back to the default size. vertical columnsets for parallel text streams

Dear list, now it is possible to sync multiple text streams with subcolumnsets. I may have four text streams and have two on each page. Such as in even and odd: 1 | 2 3 | 4 I wonder whether it would be possible to have partial subcolumnsets on a single page, such as in: 1 | 2 ——|—— 3 | 4 I mean, besides having the "n" option in "\definecolumnsets", I wonder whether it would be possible to have an "ny" option too. \placefigure conundrum

However, a 6th line is also indented, even though the baseline of the 5th line is "well below" the bottom of the cow (and thus the feet of the cow would not be trampling the text of that 6th line). I played around with the many and various options to \placefigure for a while, but didn't find any way to tell it that I'd like the 6th line to not be indented. I did discover that, in this particular case, if I use "halfline" (which seems to move the cow up around 4 points (I don't understand what "line" 4 pts is half of, but that is another question)), I now get only 4 indented lines, but the cow is now too close to the unindented line below it. In other words, this gave me too few indented lines. (I've gone from too much space to too little space; is this some sort of Goldilocks problem? :-) I see that in this case \starthanging indents the number of lines that I would expect (and that I would like). But (at least reading the wiki) I don't see how to tell \starthanging to put N=2 full lines above the cow. More generally, is there some way to tell \placefigure not to be so generous with the amount of lines it indents with "left" or "right" options? Enough indented lines but not too many? Thanks. Jim
