figure libs

Ahoi, i have some questions about figure libs: 1) i can only access figures from a figure-lib if the file is in the same directory as the document that should embed the figures. For documents in different variants (screen, print) i would prefer that i can have the figure lib in the parent directory. 2) is the XML-file that describes the figure-lib really required to access the figures in the figure-lib: Suppose the following entry: <figure> <file>Figures.1</file> <label>fig-one</label> <copyright>Jens-Uwe Morawski</copyright> <comment>first firgure</comment> </figure> that can be accessed with \externalfigure[fig-one] The page of this figure can be found via: a) looking for the object that declares the destination "about: fig-one": 6 0 obj << /Type /Annot /Subtype /Link /Border [0 0 0] /A <</S /GoTo /D (about: fig-one)>> /Rect [0 0 333.797 108.797] >> endobj b) looking for the /Page object that uses this object in /Annots: 8 0 obj << /Type /Page /Contents 9 0 R /Resources 7 0 R /MediaBox [0 0 333.797 108.797] /TrimBox [0.0 0.0 333.79617 108.7967]/CropBox [0.0 0.0 333.79617 108.7967] /Parent 12 0 R /Annots [ 6 0 R ] c) find out at which position this page is declared in the /Pages dictionary: 12 0 obj << /Type /Pages /Count 5 /Kids [8 0 R 17 0 R 29 0 R 56 0 R 68 0 R] >> endobj Maybe this could be done once for all "about:" destinations for every \usefigurebase[...]. Thus only the figure-lib-pdf is required. New version solves one problem, creates another

Hi, The new version of Context (ver: 2002.10.11) solves my \tfx problem. Hi, I have changed the chapter style by: \def\Numer#1{\color[middleblue]{#1}} \def\Nazwa#1{\color[middlegreen]{#1}} \setuplist[chapter][before=\blank,after=\blank,style=bold] \setuphead[chapter][ numbercommand=\Numer, % before=\hairline\blank, % after=\hairline\blank, textcommand=\Nazwa, page=no, ] But after this, the text of chapter ends the page; and in the case where after/begin option is \hairline, the "before" line ends one page, but text and "after" line starts a new page. This is ugly, of course. I know I have missed something important, but I don't know what. Have you any idea? Michal Morawski

background color problem

I try to create some text with background color. The following code snippet doesn't work however. ___________________________________________ \definecolor [darkgreen] [r=.0, g=.5, b=.0] \setupcolors[state=start] \starttext \startbackground \setupbackgrounds [text][text] [background=color, backgroundcolor=darkgreen, backgroundoffset=1.25mm] Background color should be darkgreen \stopbackground \stoptext ___________________________________________ I know that the problem might be sitting in front of the monitor. [It seems that my previous message ended up in a queue and got deleted in the end - I hope I have better luck with this one. I'm badly in need of an answer...] Hello, everybody! Sorry to disturb you with my stupid font questions again, but it seems that I still haven't learned some things... I'm running TeXLive+ConTeXt, one system is in WindowXP and the other one is in Windows2000, but they now behave authentically (=have the same problem). After the usual fight with the fonts (some of the afm files are zipped in my TeXLive and need unzipping by hand and charter has wrong vendor name in the batch file, too, but I solved all these) my pos fonts almost work - i.e. they work if I just try to typeset something with very little formatting. However, the annoying part is that when I try to run my "real" file, which works perfectly on my work computer (TeXLive+WinNT), both my home computers complain Warning: pdfetex.exe (file ec-raw-uhvro8a): Font ec-raw-uhvro8a at 600 not found a) What is wrong? Something with Helvetica, but what and why? As some of the helvetic .afm files were gzipped, I had to run separate texfont installation and that seems to have worked fine, at least as far as I understand from the log: (lots of other uhvr entries removed) --- font identifier : NimbusSanL-ReguItal -> text -> tfm + vf generating raw tfm/vpl : ec-raw-uhvro8a (from uhvro8a) generating new vf : ec-uhvro8a (from ec-raw-uhvro8a) missing pfb file : uhvro8a.pfb --- generating : ls-r databases --- b) How to fix this problem? Any quick fix for the whole helvetica set? Or how to tell texfont that I want to create it exactly at 600? c) Would upgrading ConTeXt possibly help? I burned the TeXLive CD about 6 weeks back, but its contents seem to be from June. And/Or should I upgrade TexFont separately, anyone have any experience about this? d) When I find bugs in the combination TeXLive+ConTeXt+Windows, to whom should I report them? ConTeXt people, TeXLive people, both or nobody? Thank you for any help you can give, Mari Voipio

The NTG mailing lists are now installed on a new server running "mailman" instead of "majordomo".
