Hello there, I love working with ConTeXt, and never had to think about it much since SuSE makes it realy easy ... but now I switched to Debian, and all of a sudden have to face some trouble :-)) I run Debian Woody 3.01r and if I call texexec --make de it says "warning : texexec.ini not found; try 'texexec --verbose' TeXExec 2.5 -ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997 - 2001 locating ini file : not found by kpsewhich locating ini file : not found by searching locating ini file : no environment variable set locating ini file : not found in own path so, what am I going to do? I found "texexec" in /usr/share/texmf/context/config ... am I to make a link? Let's say to /home/user/texmf? Thanks in advance ray

XML attributes

Hi, So I've got to use this modern XML thingy.. ;-) I tried to set up ConTeXt to typeset processed XML data. What goes wrong is the \XMLpar which sometimes gives default value instead of the real one. Tables, footnotes and references

Hi, I want to make a table with some footnotes belonging to that table. As an extra, one of the footnotes needs to be referenced to multiple times: bla bla bla* bla bla bla* bla bla bla *blabla Questions: - which of the table formatting commands in ConTeXt is most suitable for this? - Can I just use a footnote command to create footnotes for a table (or do I need to do something special?) - How do I reference a footnote (or get the symbol for a specific footnote)? handling & compound||words

Hi folks. I've been wondering if I've been missing something here. When I activate hanging, the hyphens (or whatever the hyphenmark is set to) in compound||words refuse to hang. When that happens, it makes the margin look worse than if there were no hanging. Is it not implemented yet? [using pdfeTeX (Web2C 7.3.7x) 3.14159-1.00b-pretest-20020211-2.1] Here's an example with a bit of nonsense that pretty much forces the issue: \setupfontsynonym[cmr10][handling=pure] \setupfontsynonym[Serif][handling=pure] \setupfonthandling[normal][left=1,right=1] \usetypescript[cmr] \setupbodyfont[10pt] % tried this and many variations: \setuphyphenmark[sign=-] \setupalign[hanging] \starttext \dorecurse{3}{ I find the very thought of it appalling. Itemize columns

Hi ConTeXtnicians, When I use \startitemize[n,packed,columns,three] The list is produced in a nicely packed three column format, however when the n is left out for bullets the three columns become one. \startitemize[n,packed,columns,three] Is this the intended operation? TIA -- Nigel

combine two features in \setuphead[][]

Hello, if I use the \setuphead[][] command like this way \definehead [section] [section] \setuphead [section] [alternative=inmargin, numberstyle=bold, textstyle=bold] I can use features how > normal, bold, slanted < and so on. What is to do, if I want to combine two features e.g. bold _and_ 18pt (Fontsize)? Thanks and best wishes, Helmut

ColorBrewer palettes

Hi all, I have adapted the colour palettes suggested in http://www.colorbrewer.org for ConTeXt, see http://www.panix.com/~derwisch/hannes/tex/brewercomp.pdf and http://www.panix.com/~derwisch/hannes/tex/colo-brw.tex. As can be seen from the document, I still have font def problems. Without the redefinition of the monospace font, I keep getting a "Font ectt1000 at size 645 not found".
