Hello everyone, I have three comments wrt m-newmat.tex, version 2000.11.16: I had to change a \startypen into \starttypen to get a typeset version. At the end of the file, Hans was looking for applications of subarrays: $$\sum_{\startsubarray[c] 1\leq i \leq 10\crcr 1\leq j \leq i \stopsubarray} i^j = 11567154195$$ (Actually, I think \\ should work in place of \crcr, too.) The definition of substack looks broken to me: first of all, there is no \simplestartsubstack and secondly the command should not be named \start... since there is no corresponding \stop... command. Suggested code: \def\substack {\startsubarray[c]#1\stopsubarray} (Since the argument will be typeset anyway, I think it should be given in {}, right?) Usage: $$\sum_{\substack{1\leq i \leq 10\crcr 1\leq j \leq i} i^j = 11567154195$$ regards, Christopher Creutzig

Problem with setuptyping and interline space...

Hi, In document I have: \setupinterlinespace[medium] and I would like to have different interline space when I use: \starttyping ... \stoptyping I tried: \setuptyping [typing] [blank=each_possible_value_from_manual] ;) but there is no effect. What is wrong ?... -- Best regards Martin

distribution of type files for MS fonts

Helmut asked about a complete distribution of TeX files for Microsoft's standard fonts, and here it is: http://www.fiee.net/texnique/?menu=0-1-4&lang=en http://www.ramm.ch/fiee/texnique/material/microsoft-fonts4context.zip Unzip the archive in your TeX root (texmf-local or where you installed ConTeXt). ConTeXt, XML and verbatim

I. I'm working on some documentation writen in XML. This documentation contain many nested XML files. To process XML I use simple ConTeXt construction \processXMLfilegrouped{file.xml} (or) \starttext \processXMLfilegrouped{file.xml} \stoptext In XML source nested files are involved by <nested/> tag. To process nested XML files I have defined something like this: \defineXMLcommand [nested] {\processXMLfile{\XMLpar{nested}{src}{}}} It works good. I want to treat each 'newline-char' as a space (in the whole document). For that purpose I use: \catcode`^^M=10 The problem is that it DOESN'T work for nested XML files. How can I set someting like this for the whole XML structure, not only for file processed just 'under' ConTeXt? It works only for the file processed directly by the command \processXMLfile{...} II. Meybe someone knowns how to 'translate' verbatim environments for XML code? I mean how to define environment which I can use in this way <verbatim> .... </verbatim> to get literal content of such XML tag? Thanks, Paweł Jackowski

I fixed it by following: -install miktex (large version but I will experimental with small version) -unzip new version of ConTeXt -remove cont-en.efmt file if exists -generate format en -generate specific language format -update and refresh MikTeX database -generate metafun format -copy mem file from fmt folder (where is stored after generate) to /mem/ folder(s) -update and refresh MikTeX database And everything looks good ;) I had some problems with generate metafun format - there I couldn't find mem file on hard disk. Maybe first time I forgot '-update and refresh MikTeX database' ;) This the point for new users: after each operation do it ! ;) I used: This is pdfeTeX, Version 3.141592-1.11a-2.1 (MiKTeX 2.3) (preloaded format=cont-en 2003.9.4) 4 SEP 2003 23:12 and: ConTeXt ver: 2003.8.21 fmt: 2003.9.4 int: english mes: english Best regards Martin

texfont / typescripts

Ahoi! Hans, texfont seems to have a little bug: If one installs TrueType fonts, it complains about missing pfb (I can ignore that), but the map file maps only to pfb, not ttf. My install-font script fixes that, but I suppose it's no problem to fix that in texfont. I didn't try OpenType yet, but guess the same problem. And I'd suggest to let texfont write a sample typescript, as my script does. (Then I could drop it.) BTW: There's now a typescript for Microsoft's standard TT fonts in my collection. Hallo Hans, did you already have some time to have a look in question number 2? I am asking because next week I could typeset a book that has about 80 smaller figures which need to be included in the text - textpages with one image top/left and another bottom/right (with text flowing around both). And since your answer I have hope again that it is possible to be done in ConTeXt. (Otherwise I'd have to use another program like FrameMaker which I try to avoid.) OK. l.3 \setbox0=\hbox{fg}\showbox0 > \box0= \hbox(10.41603+4.05064)x9.46518 .\hbox(10.41603+4.05064)x0.0 ..\rule(10.41603+4.05064)x0.0 ..\glue 0.0 plus 1.0fil minus 1.0fil ./cmr12/f ./cmr12/g ! OK. l.4 \setbox0=\hbox{\strut fg}\showbox0 OK, the first box is easy. The second one gives me a slight headache: why is the rule 10.4 + 4.1 pt? (14.46667 total) the definition of strut(box) is \setbox\strutbox=\hbox{\vrule height8.5pt depth3.5pt width\z@} so where do the other 2.46667 point come from? \setupheadertexts

I want to have chapter names in the header text and I want them in boldface. This works: \setupheadertexts[text][{\bf My book}][chapter] but this: \setupheadertexts[text][{\bf my book}][\bf chapter] just shows the literal word "chapter". So how do I do this? John Culleton
