what fonts I have in my systems?

Is there a set of commands to know what fonts I have in my installation of context? and How do I show them all together without going one by one in the subdirectories... thank you Ciro

Installatie ConTeXt hapert

Beste ConTeXt-ers, Ik ben bezig met de installatie van ConTeXt. Ik maak gebruik van MiKTeX op een windows machine. De zip-bestanden zijn uitgepakt, PERL is geinstalleerd, texexec.ini is aangepast op MiKTeX. Nu ben ik zover dat ik formats moet maken met "texexec --make en nl", maar dat lukt niet. De log-file eindigt als volgt: ... ! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [pool size=470502]. @if ...pandafter if@ string #1#2endcsname newif ...er expandafter edef @if #1{false} {let noexpand #1noexpand if... l.1164 \newif\ifXMLsimpleentities % last resort If you really absolutely need more capacity, you can ask a wizard to enlarge me. Weet iemand wat er mis gaat? Overigens, als ik "texexec --make" doe wordt er wel een format aangemaakt, maar dan alleen "mptopdf.efmt". Placing figure inside a table cell, centered

Hello, I'm doing a quest. What I intend to do is a table (using Natural Tables) where one of the columns contains a small icon centered within the cell with no other data there. My table looks like this: \bTABLE \bTR \bTH Operation\eTH \bTH[align=middle] Result\eTH \eTR \bTR \bTD HelloWorld! \eTD \bTD[align=middle] \externalfigure[checkbox] \eTD \eTR \eTABLE "align=middle" for TD gives the expected result for the text, but not for the image. I've managed to center the image using \midaligned command, like below. But the table columns width in this case is set to 50% each. And the only way I found is to add [width=50pt] to each cell. \bTABLE \bTR \bTH Operation\eTH \bTH[align=middle][width=50pt] Result\eTH \eTR \bTR \bTD HelloWorld! \eTD \bTD[width=50pt] \midaligned {\externalfigure[checkbox]} \eTD \eTR \eTABLE I'm afraid I make things too complicated. Dear list, using mptopdf externalfigure "nue-logo-1.jpg" scaled 10; results in a figure that doesn't retain the original image ratio. The hints given on http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Using_Graphics would be what I want, but don't work in metapost?! Any help would be appreciated Jan-Mark

patterns

Hi, The last few years we have encountered problems with changes in pattern files and names (dutch was dropped, czech was invalid, and us filenames also changed in undocumented ways). To get a bit more control over this can of worms, we need a test file that can be added to the tex live test suite. CMAP and IL2 encoding

Nice Sunday evening Hans, I played with ToUnicode resource (for correct copy&paste and search opperation in PDF). I noticed a package cmap.sty was done by Mr. Volovich for LaTeX a year ago; I did one (cmap.tex) for plain TeX yesterday and started to be interested in the situation in ConTeXt. No wonder you did it 4 years ago. But I met some minor problems: 1) if you run example file \useencoding[pfr] \setupbodyfont[csr] \starttext test \`z \'z \bf test \sl test \bs quite funny \`z \page test \`z \'z \bf test \sl test \bs quite funny \`z \page \stoptext you obtain /ToUnicode resource ONLY for first roman variant. It is due to a condition in the file enco-pfr.tex \def\doincludepdffontresource {\ifcsname\s!ucmap\fontfile\endcsname\else \dodoincludepdffontresource \fi} The condition is correct but the \fontfile is not changed when \bf, \it, etc. is used (it is still cscsc10 (?)). Might you look at a proper \fontfile definition? 2) Technical note: in ConTeXt the il2 encoding is defined. But the definition is not ISO-8859-2 (Latin 2, IL2) encoding sharp. The definition is CS font encoding (IL2cs or 8z). It is derived from il2 but it differ in 49 positions (!). For usage in Czech or Slovac languages it causes no problem but what if somebody will want to use a proper il2 font? If you want I can prepare both IL2 and (a bit richer) il2cs (8z?) enco-??.tex files. 3) File pdfr-il2.tex with CMAP definition is proper IL2 mapping. So now we combine IL2 CMAP mapping with IL2cs ConTeXt encoding. It is nosence. Suggested solution: use csr fonts with new IL2cs encoding and create new pdfr-il2cs.tex. 4) Definitions of CMAP encodings are stored in pdfr-??.tex files - it means in TeX format. But the common way is to be a stand-alone PS file, see attachement. Now I know about 5 files from Mr. Volovich (Cork, 3 russian, vietnamese) and two from me (IL2, IL2cs). Such file can be easily included by \pdfobj stream file {} mechanism. Question: I can prepare pdfr-il2cs.tex but is it not better to use more standard stand-alone files in ConTeXt? Vit Zyka

marks in columns

Hi, is there a way to get the marks set in columns? With \setupfootertexts[{\getmarking[section][first] \getmarking[section][last]}] \starttext \startcolumns[n=2] \section{first} \column \section{last} \stopcolumns \stoptext I get only the last mark, even if I comment the \column out. If there is no possibility, can I write the marks to a file for postprocessing? Best regards, P.

Setting up a typeface

Hi, I've now studied the docs for a while and experimenting with a bunch of settings but I'm still failing setting up typefaces correctly in ConTeXt. Probably the font mechanism in ConTeXt is much more elaborate than with LaTeX's NFSS. But I'm too stupid to understand it :-( Could someone please help me? My test case -- and it will be the sans serif part of my wish list -- should setup the Linotype HelveticaNeue as body font. The main part is not very difficult to achieve. How can I setup my typeface (regular, bold, etc.) to use the specific sizes 5,6,7,8,9.5,10,12,14,18,24,28 *bp*??? (And with correct dependencies) I'm definitely not understanding how the general scheme works. And all examples I've found always use the standard font sizes and the standard measurement units. Problems with Acrobat Reader, animation, sound, JavaScript etc.

Good morning. I'd like to ask a little off-topic questions but closely related to ConTeXt. I'm sorry I bother you with this, but I need it. My interest is not purely academic. I'd like to prepare fully interactive documents for my students to work with at home and prepare to my classes. My questions are like this: Theoretically, PDF can contain sound, movie, and JavaScript. 1) In practise, the movie plugin I have found only in the Acrobat Reader 5.x under Windoze; in Linux and in Adobe Reader 6.0 under Windoze it was not present. Can I download it somewhere? 2) What are limits of QuickTime JPeg in the PDF? It worked with a movie included in the QuickTime viewer under Windoze, but not with a movie from my digital camera (Olympus C730UZ). How can I convert it (for free)? 3) How can I include sounds to my PDF? Does it work with all Readers under all platforms, or not? What do I need to install? 4) Some JavaScripts work only under Windoze, not under Linux. Why? How can I fix that? Mr. Hagen's clock example, and Mr. Gundlach euro-anim example are just two cases. 5) Does Adobe still support Linux? There is a reader version 6.0 for Windoze, but only 5.0.9 for Linux. 6) If I want to learn how to use JavaScript in the ConTeXt, what Adobe document should I read first? Is somewhere explained to integrate it in the ConTeXt (more that the widgets manual)? Many thanks for any hint. I apologize one more for this slightly off-topic questions. M.K.

right aligned section?

Hi, sorry for this actually simple question, but I don't get it. \setuphead[section][align=right] \starttext \section[testref]{test test} \stoptext The section remains left aligned. How can I make it right alignend? I've tried several examples, but the section remains always at the left. Best regards, P.
