I forgot one part at the end. Here it is again. I've got this in my environment file: \def\ClearChapterQuote{\def\ChapterQuote{}} \ClearChapterQuote \def\ChQuoteFormat#1{\starttext% \startalignment[left]% \startnarrower[4*left] \noindent{\hyphenpenalty 10000\em #1}% \stopnarrower\stopalignment\stoptext\blank} \setuphead[chapter] [page=left, before={\ChQuoteFormat{\ChapterQuote}\noheaderandfooterlines% \page[right]\blank[2*big]}, after={\ClearChapterQuote\blank[3*big]}% \noheaderandfooterlines] I've got two problems with this setup: First, even with the \hyphenpenalty I get this line breaking: For what can a man accomplish that has not been done a million times before? What can he say that he will not find in Lao-Tse or the Bhagavad-gita or the Prophet Isa- iah? John Steinbeck — Sweet Thursday (Interestingly, when I copy/paste this from Apple's Preview.app I get For what can a man accomplish that has not been done a million times before? I can fix this by hand, but I'd rather have this working automatically. My second problem is that I get two empty numbered pages between chapters. As in page 13: last text of chapter 1 page 14: empty page with page number page 15: empty page with page number page 16: page with quote and no page number page 17: first page of chapter 2 no page number I'd like to get rid of pages 14 and 15. I think I need to only do a page=left when I am on a right page at that time (page=even has the same result) I even tried: \setuphead[chapter] [page=disable, before={\page[even]\ChQuoteFormat{\ChapterQuote}\noheaderandfooterlines% \page[right]\blank[2*big]}, after={\ClearChapterQuote\blank[3*big]}% \noheaderandfooterlines] Thanks, G

Getting a barred l for all the wrong reasons

Greetings, hopefully this is a real quickie. I'm using XeConTeXt, regime UTF, language en, hoefler encoding uc & receiving a barred l for any instance of this: l/ Which makes it tough to have pairs like centripetal/centrifugal. :) Any clues? Kind regards, David

Title-page overlay

I would like to put a rather large and complicated regular expression into the title-page of a document I'm writing. So far, I haven't had much luck defining an overlay that uses \starttyping ... \stoptyping. Basically, what I figured I should do was to write \defineoverlay [TitleGraphic] [{ \starttyping ... \stoptyping }] and then \setupbackgrounds[page][background=TitleGraphic] But that doesn't work: ! Argument of \copyverbatimline has an extra }. Have any suggestions on what I might try? Layout stuff

Hi all. I've been trying to get layouts working, and wanted to verify some things (as I haven't really worked much in that space before). Is there any way to "inherit" a layout's parameters, such as: \definelayout [preset-1-1] [mypresettomodify] \setuplayout [mypresettomodify][width=65\averagecharwidth] (I finally figured out how to do what I want another way, but the question is still interesting to me.) I can't just dump cont-tmf.zip into TeXLive\texmf-var, because some utilities (like texfont.exe) do not get updated or replaced. So I would have to manually delete e.g., texfont.exe and replace it with the new texfont.bat, making a mess of my TeXLive system. I really wish that updating/upgrading were not always such a pain... Imposition of A7,landscape on A4

Hello, I want to print 8 pages of A7, landscape doublesided on A4. I always get the pages connected on the shorter side of the page, but that is wrong. Has anyone an idea how to solve this?
