Hi there! For a christmas decoration I need the word "peace" in different languages. I got enough latin-written, but I need some more "exotic". If you can speak/write a non-latin written language, it would be nice if you could send me (off list!) a PDF with the word "peace" in this language. (I need it scalable!) bug with glue and spaces in formulas?

Hi Hans and all Contexters, While discussing with David Munger about the Steps macros he wrote for presentations in ConTeXt (see the thread \presentationstep), we noticed that there seems to be a problem with "white spaces" or glue around some "binary operators" such as +, - and =. Please see the result of the following sample. Best regards: OK %%%% begin file test-glue.tex \starttext This is to verify how the space, or glue, is controlled in \ConTeXt. First some binary operators ``$\in$'', ``$+$'', ``$-$'' and ``$=$'' without grouping braces: \placeformula[eq:plain] \startformula x\in \Omega \subset {\Bbb R}^N,\quad\quad -\Delta u + u -u^3 = f. \stopformula Next the same with braces \placeformula[eq:braces1] \startformula x{\in} \Omega {\subset} {\Bbb R}^N,\quad\quad {-}\Delta u {+} u {-u^3} {=} f. \stopformula Note how the spaces around the signs $\in$, $+$, $-$ and $=$ have shrinked. The problem seems to appear when these are actually binary operators (that is $+1$ and ${+}1$ give the same result, while $1+2=3$ is different from $1{+}2{=}3$). I haven't tried all such binary operators, but it seems that this happens with all of them: compare $A \cap B$ and $A{\cap}B$, or $A\cup B$ and $A{\cup}B$. \stoptext %%%%% end file test-glue.tex

MathML <mover> element for accents?

Hello ConTeXters. I am using the wonderful ability of ConTeXt to directly typeset MathML equations, and have come across a problem with trying to put a line above a character using the <mover> element. Here's what I try: \setuppagenumbering[state=stop] \starttext \startXMLdata <math display="block"> <mover accent="true"> <mi>x</mi> <mo>Â¯</mo> </mover> </math> \stopXMLdata \stoptext The output I get is as if the accent="true" attribute wasn't set - i.e. the line is a long way above the x, not like an accent. Is there another way to place math accents in presentational MathML? My versions: TeXVersion 0.1 / Taco Hoekwater 2004 texexec : TeXExec 4.4 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2004 texutil : TeXUtil 8.2 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1992-2004 tex : pdfeTeXk, 3.141592-1.11a-2.1 (Web2C 7.5.2) context : ver: 2004.8.15 cont-en : ver: 2004.8.15 fmt: 2004.8.22 mes: english (PS (Patrick) - I tried to get a minimal file working on live.contextgarden but couldn't get any maths formatting to come out. Hi, Could someone tell me if I'm doing something bad here, please? File test.tex ------------------------------- \usemodule[pre-original] \starttext \Subject{Test} step 1 \presentationstep step 2 \stoptext ------------------------------- texexec --mode=step --output=pdf test.tex This gives me a white page instead of the text I get without `--mode=step'. Try this in Latex: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{layout} \begin{document} \layout \end{document} We need a picture(s) indicating all of the various layout parameters and their location on the page, as shown in the figure generated when you run the Latex code above.

All, OK, it seems the times are passing me by. I am running Miktex 2.4. It comes with Context installed and there is a texexec.exe in /texmf/miktex/bin, which is on my path. C:\CONTEXT\PRACTICE>path PATH=C:\Perl\bin\;C:\texmf\miktex\bin;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WIND OWS\ System32\Wbem;c:\yandy\yandytex;c:\yandy\dviwind After enabling write18 and setting these in my cont-sys.tex, \runMPgraphicstrue \runMPTEXgraphicstrue \useMETAFUNformattrue I could not get Context to build Metapost graphics on the fly (at least in my test file). I have installed Ruby. After reading: http://www.contextgarden.net/Update_Hints I tried the following: texmfstart --make texexec.pl This built a texexec.bat, which I moved to /texmf/miktex/bin, where I also renamed texexec.exe to texexec.exe.bak. As a result, the file below compiled nicely and I had my graphic in the background. However, this killed Context running in Auctex and Emacs, which will no longer compile the file below. I get the error message in the attached log file. Any thoughts on how I can get going in Auctex again?
