\godown to an absolute position

Hello. I have a style request that I haven't come across before and don't know how to handle in ConTeXt. I need the first line of text following a chapter title to always start 15 picas from the top edge of the text area. In other words, no matter how little space the title takes up, the first line after it should always start at the same vertical point. Something like -- \chapter{Chapter title} \godown[to=15pc] Start of the text of the chapter... -- would be ideal, but of course \godown starts from the current point and doesn't offer a to= option! I'm not sure that layers are the answer because as soon as I have moved down I'm into the running text of the chapter. Can anyone help? Thanks very much. Duncan

XML question regarding special characters

Hi! I'm trying to design a "universal" markup that will be easy to convert both to PDF and HTML. I've come to code and equations. I don't want to use MathML and I want to output (and use in my documents!) verbatim TeX code of equations to HTML. What worries me is the following: I want to be able to write and run through Context XML processing: <formula label="fm:whatever> x^{2} < y </formula> or, for typesetting computer programs: <code> if((x&y) >= 3) { do_something(); } </code> (this would translate to \starttyping\stoptyping) How do I define XML environments that can handle XML special characters (<>&, etc., I don't know all of them..) gracefully? (i.e. so that I don't have to type <code> if((x&y) >= 3) </code> and similar for formulas) Thanks!

recursion/loop with counter?

Hello again! In a form I need a lot of empty, but numbered fields. Wrap a url

All, I have: \setupurl [style=bold] \useURL[craig][http://online.redwoods.cc.ca.us/instruct/darnold/CalcProj/Fal l98/CraigA/project3.htm] \from[craig] But it runs off my slide before wrapping. I'd like to break this up so it is on two lines and centered. Any suggestions?

Context index and sorting question

Hi all, I am currently working on a dictionary with multiple indices of older language stages like, Old English, Old Norse, Greec, Sanskrit, Hittite, etc. Most of these languages have different characters, accents and sorting rules than English. In enco-ini.tex I found the \definesortkey command, but it is not entirely clear to me how I could use this command for the individual indices instead of for the overall language (in my case english). Or even if this is possible at all? Could someone tell me how I can use the \definesortkey command or for that matter any other ConTeXt mechanism to define sortrules for individual indices? Regards Sjoerd PS why does Texutil strip accents \' \~ \` \" \^ but not \= ?

layers and papersize

This is probably a beginners question. While trying to understand the layer-mechanism I made a drawing which is meant as a background for a schedule in a magazine. I add the information within this drawing using the 'register' option I found on page 263 of the Metafun manual. But I want this to work in a magazine on A5. But now all of the texts ("pos x") end up somewhere in the left corner of the page. Only the drawing is on its right place. I tried to experiment with adding 'position= on' or 'off' to the 'definelayer' command. No difference. Where are the misunderstandings on my side? tom fossen

OmniOutliner>ConTeXt Export plugin available

[apologies for the cross-post.] Hi all, My export plugin for OmniOutliner is now available for use with both OmniOutliner Professional and Standard: <http://oo2contml.sourceforge.net/> It exports structural markup to an XML file that's able to be processed directly by the ConTeXt TeX macro package. (That is to say, you can simply type this at the command line: texexec --pdf MyOutline.xml ...and you get a pdf.) There's a lot of documentation (but basic operation is really simple). Omni's support people have asked that I take plugin support questions off the OO-Users list, so there's a support mailing list at the above link as well. I'm also soliciting feedback on further directions for this plugin. I can imagine three possible directions: 1) Output in ConTeXt's TeX syntax, 2) Output a simplified structural XHTML (OO3's current offerings, while gorgeous, are not so easy for hacking up a basic web page for use with your own CSS), 3) Input the ConTeXt-XML format for basic round-tripping from Outline to ConTeXt to Outline. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Adam T.
