INstalling a new version of context

Hello ! I tried to install a new version of context, since somebody suggest to do it (BTW I do not know how know what version of context I have ... running texexec --version gives me the version of texexec, I presume, not the version of context ... but anyway ... that not my sole problem, as for now). So I used to have a version of context install by default :-) on my mandrake 10.1 distribution of linux ... To upgrade I have downloaded http://www.pragma-ade.com/context/current/cont-tmf.zip and read also part of http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/minstall.pdf It says that I have to unzip cont-tmf.zip in /usr/share/texmf ... which I have done ... And then they say we have to regenerate format .... but I'm not that expert to understand what it means ... What I have done is fmtutil --all But my context distrib does not work anymore ... ;-( Could anybody help me ? I have relink ln -s /usr/share/texmf/context/perltk/texexec.pl /usr/bin/texexec since /usr/bin/texexec was the location where my shell use to find texec ... But I'm probably messing everything doing that. no 'd' in math-eul.tex

In the math-eul.tex shown in the contextgarden.net source browser dated 2003.02.03, which is the only one I have found, the following lines occur ... \definemathcharacter [c] [nothing] [mr] ["63] \definemathcharacter [d] [nothing] [mr] ["65] \definemathcharacter [e] [nothing] [mr] ["65] \definemathcharacter [f] [nothing] [mr] ["66] ... and ... \definemathcharacter [C] [nothing] [mr] ["43] \definemathcharacter [D] [nothing] [mr] ["45] \definemathcharacter [E] [nothing] [mr] ["45] \definemathcharacter [F] [nothing] [mr] ["46] ... making 'd' and 'D' print as 'e' and 'E'. I suppose this is a mistake? If 'c' and 'C' in your example are changed to 'd' and 'D', it illustrates the point. I also have the fonts installed following your excellent guide. Dear cartel, Two problems (annoyances?) with alignment,: PROBLEM 1: \startalignment[left] creates a spurious underfull hbox: ======================= % output=pdf interface=en \starttext \startalignment[left] This is a test of alignment. \stopalignment \stoptext ======================= log: ======================= Underfull \hbox (badness 10000) in paragraph at lines 7--8 []\*12ptrmtf* This is a test of align-ment. \hbox(8.26648+2.33331)x426.78743, glue set 12.00853 .\glue(\leftskip) 0.0 plus 24.0 .\hbox(0.0+0.0)x0.0 .\*12ptrmtf* T .\*12ptrmtf* h .\*12ptrmtf* i .etc. ======================= The other three alignments (see below) do not have this problem; PROBLEM 2: I think this may have came up a couple of years ago as well, don't remember if there was ever a resolution... The options to \start-\stopalignment are inconsistent and, in my view, contrary to common sense-). Try ======================= % output=pdf interface=en \starttext \rightaligned{This is a test of right alignment.} \startalignment[right] This is a test of right alignment. \stopalignment \blank[big] \leftaligned{This is a test of left alignment.} \startalignment[left] This is a test of left alignment. \stopalignment \stoptext ======================= \startalignment[right] does the opposite of \rightaligned; ditto for \startalignment[right] and \leftaligned. \rightaligned and \leftaligned are correct in my view. Aside: As ConTeXt develops bidi support, we need alternatives to [left] and [right] anyway. But it is still apparently inconsistent as it stands (with emphasis on `apparently' since I am missing/have forgotten the point of why things behave like this). Dear list members, I can't figure out how to refer to figures. In the setuparea I have e.g.: \useexternalfigure[anapler][anaplerosis][width=\textwidth] In the body I had: \placefigure{Acetyl-CoA stimuliert die anaplerotische Reaktion etc...}{\externalfigure[anapler]} In the text: (\in{Abb.}[anapler] pdf output gave Abb. ?? I then added a reference to \placefigure: \placefigure[anapler1]{text ...}[anapler] and (\in{Abb.}[anapler1] Same result, i.e. ?? I then thought that maybe, although this seems unlikely, "[fig:..] is needed, as in the examples in the manuals. I replaced the reference with [fig:anapler], same result. As so far practically nothing worked the first time, but I always managed to find the error after some time, I kept staring at the manuals and my tex file. It didn't help. inserting toc

Hello, I want to insert a table of contents but all I get is the following error message in the created pdf-file: [part,chapter,section,subsection,subsubsection not found/processed] According to the mp-cb-en.pdf page 51/52 documentation I included the following lines to the setup area: \definelist[chapter] \setuplist [chapter] [before=\blank, after=\blank, style=bold] \definelist[section] \setuplist [section] [alternative=d] \definecombinedlist [contents] [chapter,section] [level=subsection] and \placecontent after the \starttext and in front of the first \chapter. What am I doing wrong here? Frank
