No header line on chapter page + potential columnset problem?

Hi there, I'm having problems with removing the header background from a chapter start page. I'm using \setupbackgrounds[header][text][bottomframe=on] \setupheadertexts[part][chapter] for a header line and part/chapter texts, and \setupheader[state=empty] to remove the header texts on the first chapter page. But this doesn't remove the header line. And if I'm using \setupheader[state=high] the line goes away, but A) the position of the chapter title moves which I don't like and B) the columnset I'm using runs into the footer on all subsequent pages that do have the header. It seems as if the columnset uses the increased textheight from the first page on all subsequent pages. This is also the case if I use \startcolumns \stopcolumns. Without columns the text doesn't run into the footer. If anyone is interested to look into this, I've got a 25 line minimal example. I'm using Miktex 2.4.1461 on Windows XP SP2 and have updated the context package this morning to ver: 2006.04.24 23:37 fmt: 2006.5.16, but since I'm not a wizard in diagnostics it may still be a problem with my installation. But I would really prefer to be able to remove the header background on the first chapter page anyhow. I don't like to use the state=high option because I'd like the chapter title to stay where it is... Cheers Michael

Bibliography and whitespace

Hello, When I use \placebublications the white space I've set is no more taken into account. Besides, in the example below the space between the heading (Biblio) and the publication is also too small. Dear Hans, Thank you for your answer. Since it worked perfectly before, I created XeTeX-ConTeXt format using texexec --make --xtx en for a test and run "texexec --xtx file.tex". It run OK and I got a pdf output. I think that it is not only the font problem unless texmfstart uses fonts differently. So my wonder is what cause the difference between texmfstart texexec --xetex file.tex and texexec --xtx file.tex.(no output with errors and good output). I am sorry to list this which is the problem for me only. Since my TeX-knowledge is very short, I couldn't do anyting but testing. I'll upgrade to the latest version soon and see how it runs, although I am afraid of upgrading the current ConTeXt(05-11) to the latest one. Thank you again. Best regards, Dalyoung

Hi, I played a bit with texmfstart on the (so so slooooow Q3) mac and i think that i managed to get texmfstart working with less problems. I now also ship a texmfstart with all the used (context/ruby/base) libraries merged in (new undocumented feature) so that there is no longer a need to set the ruby lib path and/or move base files. The new version is uploaded. A next step is to get the stubs done in the right way (just texmfstart scriptname args) (btw, is there a clever way to avoid this sudo stuff and become real root?) how to create texmfstart.exe?

I would like to include texmfstart.exe in the MiKTeX distribution, but I don't know how to build texmfstart.exe. Is there a simple recipe (Makefile) I can start with?

ConTeXt utf support on apple mac

Hello all, I am struggling to get a utf support for Context on mac working with cyrrilic (Russian). Ruby and Context

Until a few minutes ago my Linux Slackware system dd not have a Ruby interpreter. Yet Context runs fine. I seem to remember something about some components of Context existing as Ruby scripts. Table nesting

Hello, I try to nest some tables, but the following case crashes, telling about some tex capacity exceeded. But i don't really believe in some capacity problem since it works fine when removing the enclosing of \bTABLEbody \eTABLEbody. BTW, is there some method/option to change the space size between the cell rules and the cell content? Dear Hans, Thank you for your work to make everything works fine, and I am sorry to ask you so many things. I made texmfstart working and created the format files using the commands texmfstart texexec --make en texmfstart texexec --make --xetex en It runs OK. I tested some files using "texmfstart texexec --pdf(or --xetex) "file.tex" and following results. 1. It runs OK for standard text using ConTeXt. 2. There are some warnings and errors for xetex files using XeConTeXt and there is no pdf output. (/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/tex/context/base/cont-err.tex > User file 'cont-sys.tex' not found, 'cont-sys.rme' has been used instead. < ) ) WARNING: Type1 font data returned by OFAStreamPSDownload isn't in the correct format required by the Adobe Type 1 Font Format specification.
