texmfstart not recognizing $page

Hi Hans, In the latest beta texmfstart --page=1 --file=metafun-p.pdf does not work. The second system call fails since $page is '' (I don't know why). A pdfopen --page --file filename always fails. The third system call fails since acroread is not present. I fail to understand why $page is expanding to '' rather than 2 (or 0 in the second case). Aditya

Hi, for fine-adjusting I need to have a variable horizontal space sometimes the width of "999" sometimes of "1", for example. Is there a command that reads the width of a character so it can be used in some kind of horizontal space? Steffen

I'm still playing with Designer, and actually I can't figure how to make chained lists of objects. Here 1 0 obj is Catalog with /Fields [8 0 R]; following all references R , we will end with 22 0 obj (a leaf) which is a /Type /Annot. My problem now is how to make all 'internal nodes' like 8 0 obj , 25 0 obj and so on. Angel-Luis, I'm not sure why you do not get a table of contents, maybe try to add criterium=all to the \setupcombinedlist command and see if that works? Also, you have used \placecontent, which you can use instead of \completecontent. I've tried your settings using the live ConTeXt on the wiki and it works without the page numbers in the margin. Looking at your sample file, the lines with the sections are somehow shifted to the right. It is not possible to see why this is happening. Are you shure you have not added something somewhere to change the appearance of the list? I think I will just have to live with non-splitting tables for now, unless you can suggest a better redefinition? Thanks very much for the help anyway. Duncan
