Hello folks, I am new to ConTeXt, but I am a long time LaTeX user. I wanted to create a magazine with ConTeXt, and I was wondering if anyone has examples of magazines besides the ones that are presented in the site. Also, where can I get the full source of the magazines found in the Pragma ADE site, so that I can study them properly? I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance, Fidel.

Success and a question.

I successfully updated to the latest cont-tem zip but it wasn't easy. Karl Berry suggested the following: cd $TMPDIR dir=`pwd` wget http://www.pragma-ade.com/context/current/cont-tmf.zip cd /wherever/texmf-dist unzip -t $dir/cont-tmf.zip >/tmp/z unzip -q $dir/cont-tmf.zip rm web2c/natural.tcx mv web2c/context.cnf ../texmf/web2c # [stuff to update the repository] I did the above with embellishments. Since I have had continual trouble, even when I reloaded texlive 2005, I started with a new partition (Slackware 10.2) and a fresh texLIve installation. I followed the Berry routine. At the end I did: texhash fmtutil --all texhash (One cannot do texhash too often.) I tested this on a known file and it worked. Now I went to my production partition, wiped out the "2005" directory and copied the 2005 directory from my test partition. After the usual texhash and fmtutil bowing and scraping I now have an up-to-date context installation that seems to work OK. Now for the question: When I process a tex file with texexec I get a pdf file and a warnig message that says "warning use tekmfstart texecec instead." Well the bare texexec seems to work OK but the command; texmfstart texexec book.tex exits immediately with no output. indentnext for footnotes wanted

Hi, I need an indentnext=auto for footnotes having more than one paragraph. But the assumed command don't work - see below. indented footnotes

Hi, I want my footnotes (bottom page) to be indented first line. So I tried this \setupfootnotes[indentnext=yes,numbercommand=\hskip1em\high] \setupfootnotedefinition[indentnext=yes,distance=0.5em,location=serried] But "\hskip1em" is now the distance to the right corner of the footnote's number. So the space before "999" is smaller than "1". But what is the syntax if the indent should be like in plain paragraphs: always the same? Steffen

a new MyWay: really simple way to create tables

Hello, There's a new tiny piece of documentation about how to create simple tables in a simple way using comma/space/tab-separated values. For example, you can copy-paste some data from Excell and use it directly without having to add all those \NC or \eTD\bTD inbetween. You can also use '&' as a separator and imitate LaTeX way of creating tables. Comments & feedback wellcome. Mojca Just as a warning: There are two bugs left: utf-8 handling (if you don't need TeX commands in the data, you can circumvent that by using quotechar=whatever) and the last cell in the row may not be empty (you can probably put a \strut there if necessary). (Two other bugs were fixed in Taco's version, but I didn't check if it is already part of the new distribution or not.)

How to place figures & captions to some non-standard places?

Hello, Is it possible to do the following with ConTeXt? 1. Figure is \textwidth wide, the caption is placed in the margin right or left to the figure (depending on left/right page) 2. Figure is less than \textwidth wide, it's placed on the inner side of "text", caption is on the outer side (top/middle or bottom-aligned, depending on user specification) 3. Figure is wider than textwidth, it's centered on "text+margin", caption below the figure (taking the same width as the figure itself) 4. figure and caption are both in the margin (outer or inner side of margin, depending on user request), caption takes all the available width of the margin 5. almost the same feature as \startfiguretext, except that the figure extends to the outer part of the margin, while texts floats around the figure (still only max. \texwidth wide). (It does not need to be automatic, just that it could be specified for a single figure where to place it and where to place the caption.) Mojca

Hello, the answers to these three questions are most probably one-liners, but I don't know which ones ;) 1. How can I scale (an already defined) reusableMPgraphic?
