Hi all, [maybe this is a bit off topic and you think that the Metapost mailing list is the right place for such stuff. But I have quit this list quite some time ago, as there was more spam than regular posts. Try to forgive me... :D ] After buying the 'Metafont' manual, I'm now playing around with some mp macro programming. The problem in the attached example is, that the 'draw' variants of the [hv]line macro always work with a *fixed* pen size of 1pt (and I can't figure out why). I'm clueless.. multipage tables

Hi, I must set two-page tables. The top row contains headings for the columns 2 to 4. The left column contains the hours of the day (01:00, 02:00 ... 24:00). The overall width is textwidth. Bug in ctxtools --purge

Hi Hans, ctxtools --purge file.tex does not behave the same as ctxtools --purge file (no extension). This causes texexec --purge filename to misbehave. With ctxtools --purge test-04.tex I get f:\tmp\context\test>ctxtools --purge test-04.tex CtxTools | purging temporary files : test-04.tex CtxTools | checking files that match 'test-04.tex-*.*' CtxTools | checking files that match 'test-04.tex.*' CtxTools | removed files : 0 CtxTools | kept files : 0 CtxTools | persistent files : 0 CtxTools | reclaimed bytes : 0 which does not delete the temp files. U3D and presentation

Hi all, I have tried to embed an U3D model within a presentation of mine and pre-original interactions inhibit the U3D interaction... The problem is described by http://www.nibua-r.org/ConTeXt/devel/context3d.tgz How to inhibit locally the interaction setted by pre-original ? I have tried to enclose my u3d model in a \framed and the result is that the 3D annotation is now activated but I can't interact with it since a click leads to get the next page... TIA Renaud

bug in beta: extra \else

Hi all, there is some deep bug that was discovered translating Beginners manual. Let take single chapter e.g. ma-cb-cz-alignments.tex With today beta I got .log attached (error ! Extra \else) This will appear in both modes screen and normal. Interesting is that no error appears in context 2006-05-28. In context 2006-09-10 this error appears only in normal mode. Screen mode is OK. Vit P.S. Today's beta shows even more problems: - inside typebuffer: only '\dochar {225}' instead of \'a in latin2 - some metapost graphics is wrong But I suggest to solve them step by step. Unable to expand \in[refX]

I want keep track of which other sections any given section refers to by creating lists like \fromrefA => refX,refY,refZ \fromrefB => refY,refZ ... My plan is to achieve this by writing commands like \ignore{1.2} \appendtovaluelist{fromrefA}{refX} \ignore{1.4} \appendtovaluelist{fromrefA}{refY} \ignore{1.3} \appendtovaluelist{fromrefA}{refZ} \ignore{1.4} \appendtovaluelist{fromrefB}{refY} \ignore{1.3} \appendtovaluelist{fromrefB}{refZ} ... to a file that is subsequently processed on the following run. Here references refX, refY and refX refer to sections 1.2, 1.4 and 1.3, respectively. The section numbers will be ignored by ConTeXt but by including this information the lists can be ordered by section number by simply sorting the file between the calls to texexec. However, this simple way to get sorted lists turns out to be too tricky for me. I am simply unable to write the section numbers to the file. To be more specific I am not able to expand \in[refX] in such a way that the resulting section number is written to the file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Fredrik

Dear all, Following the thread on layers: (1. thanks to all) 2. I use ConTeXt for many things, but quantitatively mostly for slides. Powerpoint is rude in its graphic abiltities but it has two features ConTeXt has not. First, you can draw on the screen. Second, you can import and stack images as you prefer. I'm not interested in the first feature, as I use a specific sw for drawing, and then import the result. But I am (sometimes) interested in the second one (let's call it "compositing"). In ConTeXt one can evidently use layers to exactly place and stack everything as needed (images, text). But, especially while preparing slides (a book worth the efforts indeed), it can be tedious to wrote all the code stuff. So, I created a minimal app in python using tkinter which allows to manipulate visually areas ("boxes" in the app terms) which can the be filled with images. The app has a second window which continuously updates with conTeXt code generated by the gui. The idea is that the user prepares a visual layer, then switches to code window, copy the generated code and paste it in the .tex file. Finally code is definitively modified it in the source, as usual. It's very simple, I've tested and it seems to work. But it can be buggy. I don't know if it can of any interest to anyone in the communities. In any case, comments related to whatsoever aspect are welcome. Actually, I've not documented it but it should be obvious. GUI should be completely portable.
