uc-encoded fonts and accents

Hello, in enco-uc.tex there are some definitions which use "combining" accents: \definecharacter textgrave {\uchar3{0}} \definecharacter textacute {\uchar3{1}} \definecharacter textcircumflex {\uchar3{2}} \definecharacter texttilde {\uchar3{3}} \definecharacter textmacron {\uchar3{4}} \definecharacter textbreve {\uchar3{6}} \definecharacter textdotaccent {\uchar3{7}} \definecharacter textdiaeresis {\uchar3{8}} \definecharacter textring {\uchar3{10}} \definecharacter texthungarumlaut {\uchar3{11}} \definecharacter textcaron {\uchar3{12}} \definecharacter textogonek {\uchar3{40}} But this is almost useless, since those fonts that have things like "ccaron" missing (which are exactly the ones for which such kind of definitions might be useful) don't have any glyphs on those slots. Appart from that \buildtextaccent is used for "combining", so there should be no real need for using "combining accents" at that place. (Writing because I needed to use ccaron in one of the fonts which doesn't have that. After redefining textcaron to a proper value it worked OK for that specific font.) Thanks, Mojca

a German umlaut is broken

TeX capacity exceeded with my macros

I have a TeX capacity exceeded message. I think I'm doing too much, but before to try another way I would know if I should enlarge context. typesetting in Cyrillic with Times

Hello, How can I typeset in Cyrillic while using the Adobe Times or Utopia fonts? I don't believe that they contain no cyrillic glyphs. It is very disappointing to be limited to weird-looking computer modern. (I work with MikTeX). Thanks Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

tagging external figure files in output

All, Suppose I have in my source: \placefigure [][] {none} {\externalfigure[sec3onea]} Now, when I compile, I'd like to have a label somewhere on the output figure in the pdf that says this figure is using the external file sec3onea.

Creating two-column enumeration inside a frame

Hello, I have a problem with creating two-column enumeration inside a frame. If I don't use framed text command (commented here), everything goes well - in two columns. But once I uncomment those lines, the list appears pretty framed but not in columns. Since I have a lot of math formulas indeed, that's bothers me. coupling register with head

Dear posse, Is it possible to couple the \index register with \head instead of page numbers? I have a document that is exactly one single \start-\stopitemize[n] with over 1000 \head entries. The \index'ed items occur for the most part in the second paragraph after \head. I would like the index to tell me which heading number my entry falls under. Is this possible? If so, how? It took a bit of searching but I found this package on ctan: mdbch.zip This is a math add-on that has both regular and bold small caps.
