Updating LuaTeX on MacTeX-TeXLive 2008

Dear ConTeXters, I just updated my TeX installation with the latest MacTeX-TeXLive 2008, and since the version of LuaTeX included there was 0.25.0, I built a binary version LuaTeX, Version snapshot-0.29.0-2008091817. Now the problem is that my usual procedure for generating mkiv doesn't work and I couldn't fix the problem… (That procedure used to work fine with the previous version of MacTeX-TeXLive 2008). More precisely mtxrun --selfupdate seems to work fine, but then luatools --selfupdate results in: LuaTools | to be replaced old script /usr/texbin/luatools LuaTools | unable to locate new script LuaTools | LuaTools | runtime: 0.082 seconds and the command luatools --generate apparently works fine, since there is no complaints, as far as I can see. Now when I issue the command: luatools --ini --verbose --compile cont-en luatools stops after executing some commands and finally I get: LuaTools | using lua initialization file cont-en.luc LuaTools | running command: luatex --ini --lua="cont-en.luc" "/usr/ local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/context/base/cont-en.tex" \\dump (/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/context/base/cont-en.tex ! I can't find file `context.tex'. l.16 \input context.tex Please type another input file name: If I do give a complete path for this file, that is /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/context/base/context.tex (or for another one /usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf-dist/tex/context/ base/context.tex) again luatools complaints about not finding the file syst-pln.tex… and so on. I should say that I execute also the commands export TEXMFCACHE="/tmp" export TEXMFCNF="/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/web2c/" export TEXMF="{/Users/kavian/Library/texmf,/usr/local/texlive/2008/ texmf-config,/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf-var,/usr/local/texlive/ 2008/../texmf-local,/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf-dist,/usr/local/ texlive/2008/texmf,/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local}" export LUAINPUTS="{/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/context/base,/ usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/scripts/context/lua}" export OSFONTDIR="{/Users/kavian/Library/Fonts,/Library/Fonts}" export TEXMFSCRIPTS="{$TEXMF/scripts/context/,$TEXMF/tex/context/base}" before the above. Hello Mojca, I seem to have run into the same or similar problems as Otared Kavian. I followed the instructions on the ConTeXt wiki, but the command ''luatools --generate'' gives the error message: 'LuaTools | error unable to identify cnf file LuaTools | error unable to identify cnf file LuaTools | no cnf files found (TEXMFCNF may not be set/known) LuaTools | LuaTools | runtime: 0.008 seconds', regardless of the directory from which I issue the command, and though there is a 28 KB file texmf.cnf sitting in /usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/web2c. As you succeeded in updating ConTeXt, luatex binary and ConTeXt scripts manually, could you please share the method with us. I for one am not sufficiently trained in unix to go there all by myself. (I'm working on a G4 PowerBook under OSX-10.4.11) Thank you in advance. Robert Blackstone

typescript and font features bug?

Hi all, I am using the latest minimal and try to compile the following two files with luatex. The second file, using typescript and font features together, get a serious problem with the final pdf: punctuation centered unexpectedly in lines. For the first files, with no font features specified, it is OK. I do not know whether someone else can replicate this problem. But it happended on my laptop. units module has bug with markIV?

Hi all, "\Micro" in the "units" module failed, while "\Nano" and "\Milli" works fine. "$\mu$" works, so it doesn't look like a font problem. The following code works with pdftex/MarkII, but fails under Luatex 0.29beta/MarkIV. \usemodule[units] \starttext Hello world! $1\Micro\Meter$ $1\Micro\Second$ \stoptext Any hints? Flow charts and comments

Hi, Something seems to be wrong with placements of comments in flowcharts. Context on Miktex

All, On http://blog.miktex.org/post/2008/05/ConTeXt-support.aspx I read that Miktex version of Context is broken. I also read Mojca's workaround, pasted below. Has anyone tried this and does it work? Any conflicts or difficulties? Second question: Can I get mptopdf to work in the Miktex tree without installing Context? Mojca's workaround: May 31. 2008 00:37 If you still want to run ConTeXt on MikTeX while it has been removed, you may create a file texmfstart.bat in C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.7 \miktex\bin with the content: @echo off ruby "C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.7\scripts\context\ruby\texmfstart.rb" "%*" and extract www.pragma-ade.com/context/current/cont-tmf.zip into C: \Program Files\MiKTeX 2.7. Then, update filename database and generate formats, and everything should work again. Typesetters for Hire wiki page

Hello everyone, I want to make something real using ConTeXt, e.g., typeset a book, but I have no orders yet. Tonight I was surfing Internet and found an open source framework for Web, Django. (It is the name of famous gipsy jazz guitarist, btw). The interesting point is that the site has the list of developers seeking enployment. Please look at **http://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/DevelopersForHire I feel we can create similar wiki section, Typesetters for Hire, and promote it in some way. Don't we? Reading modules from zip files

Hi, I tried to load a module from the zip archive without placing it in my tex folder, this work fine but I'm unable to include files from my global tex tree because none of them is found by luatex. The following works \usezipfile[t-letter.zip] \usemodule[letter] \starttext \startletter letter text \stopletter \stoptext but this fails \usezipfile[t-letter.zip] \usemodule[letter] \starttext \startletter[opening=hi,closing=bye] \input knuth \stopletter \stoptext The file knuth.tex and all the map files are not found.
