Hello! I was able to persuade one user to prepare ConTeXt package for NixOS distro, but, unfortunately, being from Russia he quickly discovered that he minimal example from wiki (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Russian) does not work, i.e. \enableregime[utf] \useencoding[cyr] \definetypeface [russian] [rm] [serif] [computer-modern] [default] [encoding=t2a] \setupbodyfont[russian] \starttext Мама и Папа % Some Russian characters \stoptext does transliterate Russian characters. I do not have any experience working with Cyrillic, so if anyone can provide minimal working example it would be very nice? Equivalent of LaTeX \cancel? and Thanks!

Hi all, I recently transitioned from LaTeX to ConTeXt. There was some particular thing I needed to do (which escapes me at the moment) that was far, far easier to do in ConTeXt than in LaTeX. And, as I've learned, I've found that that's quite often the case. So, a huge thank you to everyone involved. A couple hours ago I was annoyed that I couldn't find an equivalent for the LaTeX 'cancel' environment/command/style(?)[1]. Now, I'm truly amazed that 'cancel' required a whole package. After discovering that 'underline' and 'strikethrough' were implemented as overlays, I quickly coded up the following: \startuseMPgraphic{MyCancel} draw (0,.2*\overlayheight)--(\overlaywidth,\overlayheight); \stopuseMPgraphic \defineoverlay[mycancel][\useMPgraphic{MyCancel}] \def\cancel#1{\framed[background=mycancel,frame=off]{#1}} Now, I'm sure this is not *quite* the right way to do it. The 'cancel'ed items end up being placed too high on the line, and other spacings are slightly off. But, taking a cue from underlining, I kept the MyCancel graphic and tried: \definetextbackground [cancel] [location=text, alternative=1, background=mycancel] % plus boilerplate for setting up \startcancel\stopcancel ...But, while composing this email, I found what I wanted, which still isn't ``right'' in some sense: \def\cancel#1{\framed[background=mycancel,frame=off,width=fit,height=fit,strut=no]{#1}} I found the parameters for \framed. How to influence hyphenation points in URLs?

Hello, I have many really bad breaking points in URLs (both produced with bib module and with \useURL[bla][http://www.very-very-very-very-very-long-bla.com]\from[bla], or \hyphenatedurl, doesn't matter). Is there any way to influence breaking points in those URLs manually? For normal words there exists \hyphenate{...}, but how to handle urls? (I have the interction turned off if that matters.) I faintly remember some discussion about preparing hyphenation patterns for URLs (like: never try to break http:// or after ~, try to put slash at the end of first part). Would that solve the issue? I sometimes try to replace space and _ in wikipedia URLs and results are totally random, but in general all of them breaking really bad - leaving several letters too much in each line. Letter module béta

Hello everybody, hello Wolfgang, Since I've needed to typeset some letters I'd test the last béta letter module. The result is realy great (the signature is a the right place). I'd just need to use \setuplabeltext[fr][letter:enclosure={P.J.\,:\kern\spaceamount},letter:subject=Objet\,: ] in order to have the right traductions for « subject ». Some small things : — changing the interligne space dont change it in the « fromaddress » — why can't I put all the \setupletter in the same section ? for exemple : \setupletter [place=Paris] [place] [separator={, le }] don't work, and I need to use : \setupletter [place=Paris] \setupletter [place] [separator={, le }] Anyway, thank's a lot, it work's great ! UTF-8 and Sigma

Hello, using \enableregime[utf] \starttext Σ, σ or ς? \stoptext with pdftex prints "Σ, σ or σ?" (but the latter should be a \varsigma and not a \sigma). And with LuaTeX the result is even "Σ, or ?", i.e. the small sigmas disappear completely. Can this be fixed, even though the proper way would be to use a different font? Tobias

Using adventor in mkii

Hi, Is something still wrong with type-gyr with respect to adventor? Enumeration after section heading in margin

Hello, I am trying to use ConTeXt to create my CV. I have succesfully placed the subject headings in the margin by using: \setuphead [subject] [alternative=text,distance=0pt,command=\MyHead] \def\MyHead#1#2{\inmargin{#1 #2}} When the text that follows the heading is a simple paragraph everything works as expected: Subject Text Text... Text Text... However when the first thing after the heading is an enumeration (or a table, for that matter) the enumeration is not aligned with the heading (it's lower than the heading): Subject * Item1 * Item2 I have tried to remove whitespace around the enumeration with the 'nowhite,joinedup' options but it is still not aligned. Is there a way to align the enumeration (and other non-inline objects) with the heading? Thanks, Alexandros

TeX-MP interaction in mkii and mkiv

Hi, I cannot understand why mkii and mkiv give different output in the attached example modified from Thomas's presentation module. The output of MKII is correct. In MKIV, the first picture (Left) is not correct, and I cannot understand why is this the case. I am using the latest minimals and the latest svn luatex. Thanks, Aditya

Resetting equation numbering at each section

Hello, I want figures and formulas to start with number 1 in each section. 1 Section Figure 1 a + b = c (1) a + b = c (2) 2 Section Figure 1 a + b = c (1) Figure 2 For figures this works: \setupfloats [way=bysection,sectionnumber=,separator=] But for equations it doesn't (I get 2.1) though the same parameters seem to be available in command: \setupformulas [way=bysection,sectionnumber=,separator=] Any hints about how to prevent this are welcome.
