Hi all, quick question: does anyone know of a free font that contains the symbols "left floor" (uni230A) and "right floor" (uni120B)? I have a commercial font that does have them, but I need a portable and free version for the next release of my Greek module. Thanks, and all best Thomas

For the record, I used the simple method Wolfgang pointed to: restarting in "Safe Mode" then restarting again in normal mode. \attachment not working in MkIV

Hi, I've been trying to get \attachment to work, but I get a Lua error. The following example, (taken from scrn-int.mkiv and stripped a bit) provides an error: \setupinteraction[state=start] \useattachment[whatever][test.tex] \starttext \attachment[whatever] \stoptext The tail of the output is: interaction : active ! LuaTeX error <main ctx instance>:1: attempt to index global 'interactions' (a nil value) stack traceback: <main ctx instance>:1: in main chunk. \douseattachment ...newname="#2", filename="#2" }} \else \ctxlua {interaction... <to be read again> \starttext l.4 \starttext \attachment[whatever] \stoptext What's up with this? Lua error on unailable fonts

Hi, after upgrading to the latest context beta, I'm fased with the following lua error: define font | forced type otf of lmmono8-regular not found define font | font with name lmmono8-regular is not found [...] ! LuaTeX error /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/math-vfu.lua:366: table index is nil stack traceback: /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/math-vfu.lua:366: in function </usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/math-vfu.lua:261> (tail call): ? (tail call): ? /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/font-def.lua:549: in function 'read' /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/font-ctx.lua:359: in function 'command_2' <main ctx instance>:1: in main chunk. Apparently there is still some font cache somewhere that's not updated, and context says it has a font that is not found. However, a bit further down, this crashes. The cause of this is that the "nullfont" is returned as defined in font-ini.lua, not just nil: fonts.ids[0] = { -- nullfont characters = { }, descriptions = { }, } This font has no name, but math-vfu.lua uses fs.name unconditionally. Either math-vfu.lua should be fixed to test for this, or a line should be added to the null font above: name = "", I've tested the latter, and it solves my immediate problem. Gr. Matthijs

Minimals

Installing the minimals on ubuntu works with "first-setup.sh" without remaking the formats, in both mkII and mkiv. Installing them on my mac (10.5.8) (same procedure), mkii only works after remaking the formats, whereas remaking them for mkiv didn't help (Fatal Error : Your format does not match the base files!). Shouldn't first-setup.sh behave the same way on both computers? Cheers, Jörg

You may not see what I do. I walked down the hall and had someone else print this file earlier today. It looked fine using his copy of Preview (though he said he has seen something like what I reported in other cases). I'm mystified.

When I open the pdfs that I make with ConTeXt (II or IV), I often see x'd out boxes instead of letters. I'm writing in the hopes that someone has some ideas about what I might do. Here is some more specific information about what happens 1. I have posted a jpeg of a representative page: http://carneades.pomona.edu/test/badpdf.jpg 2. The problem comes up when the pdf viewer is either Apple's Preview or Skim (which, as I understand it, uses the same basic code). This happens on machines with both OSX 10.4 PPC and 10.5 Intel. 3. It happens with a wide variety of fonts. 4. When opened with one of Adobe's pdf readers (Adobe Reader, Acrobat Pro), the file always looks fine. 5. Opening and closing the file can make the problem parts change. So, for instance, opening and closing the file can make it so that roman letters show while italic letters are crossed boxes or vice versa. Usually, if I do this enough, I can get to a normal view with all letters looking like letters. 6. It started happening in the spring. (I've been hoping it would go away in the normal course of ConTeXt changes.) One obvious answer is just to use Adobe's software. That won't work for me because those programs cannot successfully send a file to either of the printers I have available here. (They also don't automatically update when a file changes, which is a nuisance.) So I have a dilemma. If I want to print, I have to use the Apple and Apple-derived software. If I want to see letters, I have to use the Adobe software. But I cannot do both. I doubt this is a ConTeXt specific problem, but hope there might be a solution through ConTeXt. More generally, I would be terrifically grateful for any ideas about what to do. Thank you for your time. Michael
