I should have mentioned that there's a similar problem with refcommand=authoryear (my previous post concerned refcommand=authoryears). Using Mk IV, the first citation is preceded with a new line. Mk II behaves appropriately. And all citations other than the first one are formatted correctly by Mk IV. This is quite similar to the problem I reported with refcommand=authoryears. In both cases, only the first citation is wrong and the error in both cases involves a line break. Perhaps they have a related cause. Happy hunting! mjg Samples are attached. Help watned for numbered descriptions

Hi all, I need help for the following situation: in a maths paper I would like to have Definitions, Lemmas, Theorems, etc, numbered in a sequential way in each section if any, the numbers being set before the header, and also to be able to refer to them through cross references. For instance, when there is indeed at least a section, in section 1, I would like to have something like 1.1 Definition. Here is the text of the definition in slanted style. … some text… 1.2 Lemma. Here is the text of the lemma in slanted style. …some text… 1.3 Theorem. Here is the text of the theorem in slanted style. …some text… 1.4 Corollary. Here is the text of the corollary in slanted style. And if there is no section at all: 1. Definition. Here is the text of the definition in slanted style. … some text… 2. Lemma. Here is the text of the lemma in slanted style. …some text… 3. Theorem. Here is the text of the theorem in slanted style. …some text… 4. Corollary. Here is the text of the corollary in slanted style. One way would be to define 4 descriptions or enumerations with \definedescription or \defineenumeration but then I don't know how to have numbers incremented in a sequential way in all these descriptions. Another issue with this approach would be that then if one wants to have for example a Conjecture or a Guess, one has to define a new description or enumeration. Has anyone run into such a situation? The example below shows what I need to do (but actually I wasn't able to add the section number as a prefix to the number…). latest beta and file mismatch problem

I have just installed the latest beta (minimals) and updated my .bash_profile (as advised) so that it now reads: . /Applications/ConTeXtMinimals/tex/setuptex /Applications/ConTeXtMinimals/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin When I try to compile any file, I get: FatalError : Your format does not match the base files! FormatVersion : 2009.11.26 16:28 MKII FilesVersion : 2009.12.01 00:14 How do I fix this? (texexec --make --all did not do the trick.) Alan

Thanks to Otared and Dick Koch, I now have MKII up and running again. The primary change in TeXshop involved setting the path in Preferences/Engine to /Applications/ConTeXtMinimals/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin. for the MKII engine, Otared suggested #!/bin/bash source /Applications/ConTeXtMinimals/tex/setuptex texexec "$1" What would be best for the MKIV and XeTeX engines? auto-sizing of nested parentheses

hi, is there a way to let ConTeXt make nested parentheses bigger automatically (based on level of nesting)? if you have like (((((..).)..))..), it is very hard to read if all parentheses are the same size. tobias
