facing-page translation

All, More naive questions about xml and context. I'm finding this slow going and documentation opaque, or just thin on the ground. Posting as a separate question: I've trawled through the documentation for help in typesetting TEI marked-up documents as facing-page translations. What little I've found there that I can understand is not encouraging. Does anyone know of examples of XML -> ConTeXt -> PDF that could give me a clue as to how this might be done? thanks, jon

Unwanted spaces removing

Hello ConTeXist, For some reason I need to use \placefigure environment in such a way that no space are before and after this environment (eg space for image caption under image). I want to hit as a result of using \externalfigure separately only. Can this be arranged? I tried \removelastskip, \removeunwantedspaces etc, but without success. Thanks Jaroslav. Here is my example ... \starttext \input knuth % here is no blank in PDF document \externalfigure[cow] % here is no blank in PDF document \input knuth % <- Here is blank before image and I can remove it, so it was like in the previous example \placefigure[here]{none}{\externalfigure[cow]} % <- Here is blank under image (for caption of figure) and I can remove it, so it was like in the previous example \input tufte \stoptext

Jorg, \placetable should do the trick. I had similar question earlier. search TABLE on the wiki, it is FULL of info barney

Different color for external URLs

How can I set a different color for external URLs than that used for internal (in document) links? \setupinteraction[state=start,color=red] \starttext \section[1]{One} In \in{section}[1] and url \goto{example.com}[url(http://example.com)]. \stoptext P.S. tiny bug in table (or my code?)

Dear Hans, There is something wrong in this example, but I'm not able to figure out if it's a problem in my code or a bug (with MKII it works just fine). When compiled with MKIV, I get extra space on the right, as if a column on the right was missing. \def\mymacro#1#2#3{\VL #1 \NC #2 \NC #3 \VL\AR} \starttable[|cp(2em)|rp(2em)|rp(2em)|] \HL \VL 1 \NC 2 \NC 3 \VL\AR \mymacro123 \HL \stoptable Mojca PS: \startTEXpage ... \stopTEXpage around the code behaves as if table was infinitely small. Is that OK?

\definefontalternative breaks font switches in math

Dear typescript experts, in an earlier Email I reported, that the font switches did not work in math mode. E.g., $\bf a=\alpha$ $\bi a=\alpha$ did not display bold math. It turned out that this happens when I invoke \definefontalternative. Normaly \bf is defined like this: *\show\bf > \bf=\protected macro: ->\ifmmode \mathbf \else \normalbf \fi . <*> \show\bf After using \definefontalternative it looks different: *\show\bf > \bf=\protected macro: ->\setcurrentfontalternative {bf}. <*> \show\bf Minimal example: % \definefontalternative [sb] % <-- uncomment me to break bold math \starttext $\bf 3x^2+7x$ \stoptext How to avoid this? Is setupspacing configurable？

I am setting up the space after a period. >From the context manual, it is said that "Default a space is placed after a period that ends a sentence. In some countries it is custom to stretch the space after a period. ... One can however change this spacing \setupspacing[...] ...broad packed if this argument is set as 'broad', what is the exact space? Let's say I want two spaces after the period, how to set this?
