Ugly Bibliography layout ...

Hi @all, I'm writing my Bachelor thesis with ConTeXt and now I have a strage Problem with the bibliography. Nested Macro

I would like to create a macro that defines a display formula, and then redefine the same macro such that the redefinition includes the original display formula followed by another display formula. Here is my attempt. \def\foo{\startformula a = b \stopformula} \foo \edef\foo{\foo \startformula c = d \stopformula} \foo This fails, and I would appreciate help in getting this to work. \abovedisplayskip and \belowdisplayskip

It is my understanding that \abovedisplayskip and \belowdisplayskip should adjust how much (rubber) spacing that is allowed between display math formulas. I have attached a ConTeXt file (bug.tex) that seems to indicate that setting these skips does not affect this (rubber) spacing. I have also translated this ConTeXt file line-by-line to a LaTeX file (bug.ltx) and attached it. Both files produce a PDF (using `context bug.tex` and `pdflatex bug.ltx`) in which the spacing between the formula changes from page 1 to page 2 simply by adding the final formula. However, by changing \adjustdisplay{0} to \adjustdisplay{1}, the LaTeX file produces a 3 page document where the spacing between formula does not change (as expected) on the first two pages and thus requires a third page to typeset the final formula. However, making this same adjustment in the ConTeXt file does not seem to affect the output. I would appreciate any thoughts as to why this is happening, and I would equally appreciate a solution to keeping the spacing the same in the ConTeXt file and thus bumping that last formula to a third page. odd and even test: incorrect behavior on the first two lines

Hi, I'm trying to make the content of an environment behave differently weither it appears on a right page or on a left page. It works mainly, except that with the following code, from the second page, the two first lines of subsequent pages don't show the expected behavior. \setuppagenumbering[alternative=doublesided] \definestartstop[foo][ before={\doifrightpageelse{(right)}{(left)}}, ] \starttext \dorecurse{100}{ \startfoo hello world\par \stopfoo } \stoptext Is it a known problem? TRying to download manual sources

Tryng to download manual sources. This command doesn't work: svn co svn://ctx.pragma-ade.nl/manuals context from directory /usr/local/src, and signed on as root. Strange behavior of references when using annotation-module

Hello, I use the latest mkiv beta. When using the annotation module, the output of\in[...] misses a separation dot between chapter and formula number, e.g. "31" instead of "3.1". When I omit the annotation module, there is no chapter number at all in the \in[...] reference! A minimal example of the problem: \usemodule[annotation] \setupformulae[way=bychapter,prefixsegments=chapter,prefixstopper=.] \starttext \chapter{A chapter} \section{A section} \placeformula[OK] \startformula a+b=c \stopformula In \in[OK] we noticed blabla ... \stoptext Another problem is that \smash seems not to work properly for me! Automatic margin floats using the criterium parameter

Hi, I am working on some float placement code for a project. To not reinvent the wheel I like to know what is currently possible in ConTeXt. Small floats should be placed in the margin and bigger ones centred in the text. Captions always go into the margin. That is the idea. The key to automate this seems to be the \setupfloat[criterium=…] parameter. Details: 1) Captions always in the margin 2) Captions left aligned 3) Figures smaller or equal \marginwidth go into the outer margin 4) Margin figures are aligned to the inner side of the margin 5) Margin figure captions underneath the figure 6) Figures wider than the margin go centred into the text 7) Text figure captions top aligned I got almost everything working. A minimal example is attached. Problems: Mf 1-2 are placed correctly. Problematic are Mf 3-4. The caption is not placed in the margin because of the \setupcaptions [mf] [location=bottom] setting for margin figures. Another thing is the weird alignment of Mf 3-4, I expect the figures to be centred. The reason is the following setting. \setupfloat [mf] [location=inner] If uncommented, the alignment of the margin figures is wrong. Figure 1-2 are examples of how it should look like. I could come up with a hackish solution on my own but maybe someone has an idea how to achieve this with built-in support. Marco

TeX expansion within lua

Hi, please have a look at the following example: \starttext \def\cmd{% \def\mymacro{Foobar} \newtoks\mytoks \mytoks={mytoks}} \startluacode context.cmd() context.mymacro() -- this fails -- context(tex.toks.mytoks) \stopluacode -- this works \startluacode context(tex.toks.mytoks) \stopluacode \stoptext Why does the first call to tex.toks.mytoks fail? Apparently the luacode environment has to be closed for cmd to be expanded. I guess that the call to mymacro() succeeds is a quirk due to the face that the macro is expanded later, in contrast to tokens, dimens and counters. Is there a command I can use within Lua to expand a macro immediately or to expand the pending macros to be able to access the values like the token register in the example? Another question which is related: Is there a way to access the contents of the macro from within Lua like counters and token registers? \starttext \newtoks\mytoks \mytoks={Foobar} \startluacode local tok = tex.toks.mytoks -- something like this is what I have in mind -- local mac = tex.macros.somemacro \stopluacode \stoptext I am just interested in a text string, not a box with typeset material. I guess that's more difficult, since macros are expanded and not just simply read. Marco

Lua conditionals fail inside \starttexdefinition

Hi, I discovered strange behaviour concerning Lua conditionals within texdefinitions. ConTeXt complains: 'then' expected near 'thenelseend'. I guess it has something to do with how the content of a texdefinitions is grabbed. Setting options for every n-th row in natural TABLEs

Hi, On Edward Tufte's website, there is a discussion on zebra coloring in tables[1]. One of the suggestion is to add a horizontal rule after every third line or shade three lines with one background color and the remaining three with another background color. Is there an easy way to do this with natural TABLEs? I can do something like: \setupTABLE[row][1,2,3][background=color, backgroundcolor=gray] \setupTABLE[row][7,8,9][background=color, backgroundcolor=gray] but it requires knowing the number of lines in advance.
